Dear Tina, I am a mother from 3 children (daughter of 17 and two sons of 4 and 2) and 37 years old, and working full-time for the customer service -at home- and having my own food truck business. I don't have that much time, but I decided anyway to start cello lessons. I prepared for an half year with a private teacher the basics and got accepted afterwards at the conservatory of Belfort. (I am from Holland, adopted from Korea and now living in France). I have small hands, but the worse: short fingers, including a little tiny pinky. I have a 7/8 for this reason. Your video inspired me so much to find sometimes the right fingerings which suits my morphology instead of doing what is mentioned on the music sheet. To continue playing, and finding out what will work for me. This video was exactly what I needed. I also put some video's of my slow slow slow progress. Not to inspire people, but to avoid that they become discouraged when they have hard times. They can see that I struggle like them and still I continue playing. Cause some progress videos are not realistic. It does not give an honest view what it is from older adult beginners who start to play the cello from scratch like me. Anyway, I am a huge fan of you Tina. Love your video's and please continue!

I am a harpist and teacher... (cello is a secondary instrument for me, very far second). I am always interested in practice techniques, and these ideas translate and are very universal for any instrument. I am enjoying your tutorials as a way of refreshing my perspective. Thank you.

This fingering may sound crazy but it works very well. Given to me by Frank Miller.
    In the passage that rises I use 344 33x4 344 334 344 334 344 move up Whole step 223.
Lift first and second finger off fingerboard just rest hand (balance the hand )on 3rd and 4th finger on the way up. Miller made me use fourth finger for many things, in fact that is my strongest and fastest trilling finger
