Someone commented many months ago that as I learnt my car I'd drive things easier and easier.
At the time I had no idea what they meant, but I think I'm starting to get now how much I have to learn about my vehicle. 🥰😁🤣🤣

Yes looked like open diffs front and rear. Any 4WD would struggle like that. 105 series are very capable standard so LSD wasn't working for sure.

So.. Ace Adventura pulled a Ranger Rover and blew an Air Shock. It didn't sound like a bang.. more like a crack and seeing the split.. It makes sense why it sounded the way it did.
As Far as Camping is concerned. Its not REALLY camping if you have a Camper trailer.. Its Glamping, a Roof top tent is even pushing the camping envelope.
An Awning and a Swag is the way to go.. Gets you back in touch with mother nature a bit more. So yeah I prefer to see you just camping out of the back of the Vehicle.

Yep 30 years of 4wdriving I've never had a locker 2 years ago I put a Harrop e-locker in. It's night and day plus you can hit obstacles at a lower speed.

    Hi Chris,
Do you run a auto trans cooler?
What temp is your auto running when you’re towing the camper ?
    What about engine temp?
    Any info much appreciated mate.
Luv ya vids mate , great stuff ✌️

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  Před 2 měsíci +1

Yeah we do only a small PWM one and it does the job. Towing the camper in 4th with lock up on, at 100km/h around 16L/100km on 91, 1.6T camper with all my 29" tires and standard powertrain with torque management removed off the trans/engine. I get around 70-80degrees running around with it on, if outside is above 35 degrees i find I do climb into the high 80s and sometimes touch 90. I have worked around this by adding in last year a Spal puller doing around 708 CFM on relay and switch which I just flick on whever I feel like its getting warm and it brings it down quite well back into the 70's regardless of external or workload conditions of the vehicle. Engine temps have always been fine - I am around 95-103, alloytecs very normal for this type of range from research. This isnt the only camper I've towed, I also have had a 2t mars camper which had no issues as well. Around 19L/100Km though, but it was before torque management restrictions removed off tune, and I know that offers improvements to torque which somehow improves the fuel economy while towing. One day when I have it all apart in the shed maybe I can make up a video, didnt realise anyone be interested in these details!

      Mate that’s awesome information thanks,
I’d like to pick your brain one day maybe offline.
I,ve been looking at the Adventura and Cross8 etc for a while, looking for something to replace my 2005 Crewmen S, V6 auto. 120k on the clock.
I recently replaced the radiator as it was leaking, also decided to also replace the thermostat/ housing etc .
Pre replacement of these parts the and with the additional trans cooler plumbed in the engine temp always run around just under 90 and Auto around 70-80 on my scan gauge (not towing).
After replacement with Repco radiator and thermostat assembly the engine temp best is 92 but now is constantly high 90s, auto is about the same.
Note: my additional trans cooler is plumbed through the radiator as was before new parts.
Saying all this, I tow a single axle full van 1.8T and prior to the replacement parts the engine temp rarely exceeded 100 and auto about 80-88 in 3rd.
After the replacement parts which are Repco not genuine the engine temp regardless of ambient temperature never drops below 100 and has exceeded 110 on a bad hot windy day.
Auto reached 98 I think it was at the peak before I ended up stopping for the day.
I tried reducing speed to 60-70k and in 2nd gear but obviously the system was not up to towing on that day. We left the caravan at a park and continued with the car only and temps did drop to nearly normal, well new normal.
So couple weeks ago i tested the old genuine GM housing/thermostat in pot of boiling water against the Repco unit.
I found the GM unit actually opens more than the Repco unit.
I’ve ordered a Genuine unit and will install it and run some tests etc.
I’d be interested to hear if you have had any issues like this with aftermarket parts?
Also be very interested in following up with you on the mods you have mentioned in regard heat issues.
Thanks heaps for sharing info, I did see the video some time back when you had modified the fan system on your car.

      @davecooper4739 Před 2 měsíci

Just to add about fuel economy,
Not towing and using 91 the crewman uses about 11-12L per 100.
Towing the van or a car trailer it will use 19-20 on 91.
      If I run 98 it constantly returns 16 L per 100 and that’s sitting on 90-100.

The 105 , I presume it doesn’t have traction control. try driving through the brakes. Poor man, diflocks, poor man’s traction control.

    • @AllTerrainAction

It’s also questionable if rear LSD is intact working as well. It’s like most 4wds we’ve had join us, if they are open it gives the Adventra a great chance to keep up, but anything twin locked, you’ll quickly see the difference. I should have my front truetrac sorted soon, it’ll be interesting how that’ll all work together with brake lock diff traction control system.
