    holy moly that looks delicous! I've been wanting to do a coke braised porkbutt but I might need to swap it out with some dr pepper now cause i looove me some dr pepper.

    why foil boat?
    looks like you could use a pan too

      Don’t need a pan when you use the foil boat method. The foil boat method allows for crispy bark and retaining juice.

      my point was that a pan, about the size of the butt, would do the same, right?

      I see. I’m not sure. I’ve never done a side by side comparison. Foil is cheaper. Plus takes up less space. Good question, though.!

      @@CasksnQue being from hawaii, im partial to kiawe wood, which is a strain of mesquite, and is used in the imu to make kalua pig.
      ive done this dr pepper before, no boat method, just full wrap with kiawe, and it was great.
      gonna try the boat let4hod now, ty
