I'm a dog trainer and I hear that all the time as well. I always tell my clients that every dog is different. They are even different in the same litter.
I also like to use as much dog phycology as possible when I teach.

Yes, we bred, showed trained Belgian sheepdogs. All were intact. Each dog was different. They had a lot in common because of DNA, but one was so bad he could not be with other people or other dogs. Some get their feelings hurt very easily and they understand when you are making fun of them. I found the harder it was to train them, the better they did in competition. Some loved dog shows, others hated them.
I loved my Belgian Sheepdogs but would not want a Malinois. Same breed but different variety in USA. I think the socialization during first 12 weeks of life is very important. Trying in first four months also very important. A well bred dog with good early training is not likely to be aggressive.

This is so true. People think shopping for a dog is like shopping for a car, you always get the same thing just different color. It´s wild to think people don´t know how basic biology works.
This is especially problematic for animals that come from animal protection backgrounds, as they permanently get stigmatized and put into boxes they just can´t fit based on their prior experiences in life. Then people are wondering why their dog "despite research" does not "behave like a normal dog." 🤦‍♀
