I've got the Cimarron carbine version of that. Same caliber. Love it. Back in the 1980s, I had the Rossi 92 Trapper Model in .44 Magnum, with the large lever loop. Stupidly sold it.
I want one. The .45 Colt, with the lead bullets, is basically a giant 22lr round nose. Very fun, easily capable of killing medium game with good shot placement, and a classic rifle.
That’s a fine looking rifle and a perfect accompaniment to the revolver you’re carrying. I really like the idea of having both in 45 Colt. 2 firearms 1 ammo on your gunbelt.
I have one like that chambered in .44 Special. Great gun. I have a Japanese Winchester 66 in .45 Colt and I agree that the brass frame is a bit heavier but I really love the receiver.
I just got myself a Henry Color Case Hardened in 45 Colt. I think it has a 20-inch barrel. I absolutely think it is a great lookin rifle and a tack driver to boot.
@plowboysghost Thank you, sir, for the reply. Have you ever done any huntin' with the 45 colt ? I imagine that with the right load and distance within 100 yards or so, it would get the job done. What say you on that topic?

Another nice looking lever gun, love watching your videos on SA’s and lever rifles. Don’t have one of these (mines a Winchester 94 in 30-30) but sure would like one. Life is good!
Nice rifle. I was about to get a 20 inch 1894 in 38-55 but the dentist and then my truck decided they wanted my money instead. Maybe next year. In the meantime my 24 inch 1873 still picks off groundhogs at 150 yards.

I thank wakan tanka that's this is America where we don't have to. When it comes to any pistol caliber carbine I have to agree, and state that such a platform in a 12"-16" configuration is the most practical for optimal efficiency in all situations rather it's down the hallway or in the brushy wood lot. Don't misunderstand me I love long rifles just not in a pistol caliber. There are better choices for that application. Mountain man
Once upon a time I had a full size 1873 rifle with the color case hardened frame, it was a thing of beauty. Foolishly sold it. My 45 Colt carbine is the Marlin 1894 cowboy. Anyway enjoyed the video! 👍👍
Hi! Man, that’s a pretty rifle! Sometimes I like blueing on a receiver as much if not more than case color hardening. That’s one of them right there. So good looking.
Awsome. I shoot cowboy action, I own the Cimarron 1873 saddle rifle in .45 Colt. It's barrel is 18" inlength, its heavy. But it shoots. Nice acquisition.
That's a really nice rifle. Sounds like you made a really sensible trade to get it. Good job on aging your revolver too. I saw a video on CZcams yesterday by Duelist1954 about the Colt Single Action Army that you might find interesting.
Very nice...down here in the other end of the state, I'm not aware of a gun store that has a selection of cowboy guns unfortunately so order only and it limits the ability to trade guns in. I always liked the short barreled versions...or the other end, 24" bbls. My 1873 is a saddle carbine, 18" bbl, and is really almost a piece of art to me with the checkering and case hardening.
@@plowboysghost yep, Hamilton is a long way away. Used to go through there occasionally on my way to Memphis/Arkansas but haven't made that drive in years. The nice thing about ordering guns online is that the more expensive ones (600+) wind up less expensive due to the tax advantage vs the ffl xfer costs. There are a couple of online dealers that have darn good pricing too.

Nice!!!! I have a Winchester 94 AE Trapper in 45 Colt. I've had it for well over 20 years and it's a great little rifle in a pistol cartridge. I also have a Taylor & Company 1873 that's cambered in 44WCF with a 20" Barrel. It also has a Cody Madic installed with a short stroke kit. Talking about fast. Man it's a fast running gun. Then I also have two original Winchester 1873's. Both in 44WCF. Both with Octagonal Barrel's. One is a 24" and the other is 20" . I think the 20" was cut down at some point. One is from 1879 and the other is from 1891. Love the 1873. We definitely need to get together some time Sir. If you're ever around Jasper way, let me know.
Good stuff, that's a beautiful little rifle you got yourself! Just a random question... what holster were you usin for that pietta? I'm lookin to get a few more holsters mabey even some for another cross draw rig or reverse carry.

Plowboy, just curious. Is carrying the lever rifle with you on trips for self defense purposes? If so, is that because you feel a lever gun is less eyebrow raising than a black rifle?
It is for defense in addition to what handguns I carry. I choose leverguns more for the reason that I just like them more. I have carried an AR once in the last couple years but that was also the time I also carried a 10mm pistol. Different moods I'm in I reckon.
I have very occasionally carried a pump shotgun in my vehicle in addition to a semi-auto handgun. I mostly just carry a handgun. I like the idea of carrying a lever rifle in .45LC. I think that 8-10 rounds of standard pressure .45HP would be extremely effective against a violent attacker.
