- čas přidán 2. 08. 2013
- I little something I decided to edit together, a video compiled with my footage of GWR 6000 'King' Class 4-6-0 no.6024 King Edward I's last runs in early 2012 before going in for overhaul.
Shots included:
- The Cathedrals Express - 2nd February.
- Locations - Wootton Bassett.
- The St Davids Day Cathedrals Express - 1st March.
- Locations - Highworth Junction and Swindon East Yard.
- Loco move to Bristol - 2nd March.
- Locations - Swindon Station.
- The Bristolian - 3rd March.
- Locations - Highworth Junction (Had to use the audio from the second camera, as the main audio was far to windy. Bear in mind this was before I had an external microphone, so I was using a piece of foam stuck on with blu tack to reduce wind noise) and Swindon Station.
- The Torbay Limited - 17th March.
- Locations - Sydney Gardens and Langstone Rock
- West Somerset Railway Spring Steam Gala - 25th March.
- Locations - Bishops Lydeard, Leigh Croft and Washford (Prairie no.5553 piloting).
Here's to her eventual return!
Enjoy.
nice smoke ring at 13:07
7:21 How nice of the person to explain the final car, the “diesel coach”; I had never seen such an animal in service. 👍 SMOKE-RING at 13:10!! Excellent work; beautiful camera shots!
Love the little toot toot along the coast
Great video - just sad to see time and time again these locos in BR livery. Long live the GWR...!!!!
Gotta love the sounds of a four-cylinder locomotive.
Absolutely Brilliant, Well done.
1:42 phenomenal! What a great shot
Superb compilation of shots of the King... Very well filmed and put together. Thanks for sharing, regards, Sam
Excellent Kris. Great to see the shots of the King again. Lovely one to finish with too. All the best...Tim.

Check out the smoke ring blown by the king at 13:11 !

4:36 The irony that 6024 passes a Class 66 With the number 66024 lol

Ta very much Sam :) Your profile picture looks very familiar ;)
No criticism intended, and I enjoyed seeing these old engines running again. Two questions, if I may: are they still running (2021)? How heavily laden is all that smoke and steam with particles that might affect the environment? Thanks
Yep,6024 will be operational until 2029 (if Wikipedia is to be trusted). As for environment: yeah steam locos obviously pollute but trucks and planes are much worse
Wonderful, I do wish the people with the digital cameras would turn off their shutter click!
Amazing, really missing king at the moment, she'll be back sooner than we know
Great video hate those modern American style sirens the UK has adopted.. much prefer the old school dual horn sirens seems more British. That said the steam @ night shots you arent afraid to take are awesome. Steam at night is really spectacular and as a friend once said so very romantic.
I got this model train to see it on your videos is more awesome
Is 6024 back in service? And if he is where is he?
Currently at the West Somerset Railway, nearing the end of an extensive overhaul 👍 Thanks for watching.
Shame about those clicking cameras at Langstone rock !
Why did they stop running king classes?
Well under British railways - as was the case for all steam locos - they were replaced by diesel and electric locos. In preservation, no. 6000 King George 5th ran in the 70s and 80s but will probably remain on static display for the foreseeable future. 6024 King Edward 1 (as seen here) has had stints of running in the 90s and late 2000s and is due to return to the mainline out of a fresh overhaul later this year. As for the other king in preservation : 6023 king Edward 2nd, she was withdrawn from here first running period through the 2010s last year and will not be operational for a good few years.
