    • @CardanoWithPaul
      @CardanoWithPaul  Před 3 lety +3

      Thanks Yannis, yes if the funds are in a normal daedalus wallet then you would need to send them to your ledger and redelegate from the ledger then. You will still be paid to your old wallet for 2 epochs after the move. You will probably lose 1 epoch rewards while waiting to start earning on the ledger but in the long term it will be more secure.

      Not dumb at all. congrats on getting a nano X. The hardware wallet only needs to be connected when you stake your ADA at first. Once it is staked you don't need to connect it again until you want to move your ADA or your rewards so you can keep it stored in a safe place.

  • @Dakkaroni
    @Dakkaroni Před 3 lety +1

    Forgive me for these stupid questions but I just want to be sure.
    I have basically done exactly what this video instructs with my Nano X with the exception of delegating.
    I understand the private keys are inside the ledger but what if something happens to my desktop where my Daedalus is installed?
    Do I lose all my ADA? Should I view Daedalus as another Ledger Live but exclusively for ADA? So, as long as the ledger is fine, my crypto is fine? If I lose ledger live or Daedalus on my desktop it doesn't matter.
    The ADA I have purchased, I assume is under the seed phrases that came with my Nano X correct? So if my computer blows up. All I have to do is download Daedalus, plug my nano x and my info will populate from the blockchain?
    I assume I would use the seed from for my ledger in Daedalus to restore If I need to restore? I ask this because when I set up my nano to Daedalus it didn't give me a phrase.
    Again, I know these questions may seem stupid but I just want to make sure.
    I appreciate the help.

    • @CardanoWithPaul
      @CardanoWithPaul  Před 3 lety

      Yep your ledger retains your ADA keys so all you ha e to do is plug it into any daedalus or yoroi and you can access your ADA. If something happened your ledger you would be able to restore all your accounts onto a new ledger with your ledger seed phrase

    • @CardanoWithPaul
      @CardanoWithPaul  Před 3 lety +1

      Yoroi and adalite are both good but daedalus is that bit more secure as it downloads the full blockchain to your laptop and you just interact with it. There is alot less chance of a man in the middle attack. A hardware wallet and daedalus is currently the most secure option but yoroi is a good backup too as a more lightweight option.

    Hi Paul,
    New too crypto, new to Cardano, new to staking (staked on your pool yesterday or before that as a matter of fact). Could you clear something for me please?
    As I understand, the ledger, is almost like a pen drive in which you can store your ADA. The difference between this and the software wallet is that it is easier for the one on the PC to be hacked. Now...if I make a wallet on the ledger and then stake in your pool, I can just disconnect the ledger from the PC, keep it offline, and come back 5 years if I wish too, and the ADA will keep staking "forever" on your pool until I wish for it to be so? Is this correct? Thank you and again, keep up the good work!

      @CardanoWithPaul  Před 3 lety

      In Daedalus your ledger should have a small icon beside it like a usb. When you click into that wallet if you see your ADA there then it is on your ledger. You can also confirm by logging into adalite.io/ using your ledger and see if your balance shows there

    • @CardanoWithPaul
      @CardanoWithPaul  Před 3 lety +1

      You would need to send your funds to your ledger and then delegate again from your ledger as it will be a new wallet. Your 2 epochs that you are due in rewards will still be paid to your old wallet and once you have them all you can send them to the ledger as well.

    Would it be accurate to say:
    1. If you’re using a ledger wallet to store/access your ada on Daedalus (or Yoroi), the only relevant seed phrase is the one for your ledger? In other words, any Daedalus-generated or Yoroi-generated seed phrase is irrelevant with regards to your ledger wallet?
    2. If you’re using a ledger wallet, Daedalus/Yoroi will just serve as different ways to interface with the same ledger account. So in theory you could delete your wallet from either platform and recover it with your ledger like nothing happened?
    Thanks.

    • @CardanoWithPaul

    Hi Paul!!I am sure this has been asked before but I cannot for the life of me find the answer.
    I got my nano s today and have it set up with my Cardano. I am wondering if the nano breaks is there a software wallet I can use to manage my wallet using my 24 word seed?
    I set up a test wallet on the nano, sent 1 ada, verified it was there and then tried to import the wallet into adalite and daedalus using the 24 word seed but the wallets show as being empty.
    Does this mean I need to buy a new hardware wallet to retrieve my ada if this one breaks?
    I know ordinarily the 24 word seed should be enough for retrieval to a software wallet but it seems ada does not follow bip39 the same way as the other coins and I noticed that it isnt listed in Ian Colemans tool.

      Ya you can just add it again as the keys always stay on the ledger

    So if my ADA are on Yoroi and I want them on Daedalus I need only to set up the Ledger on Daedalus and synchronize?

    • @CardanoWithPaul
      @CardanoWithPaul  Před 3 lety +1

      If they are on your ledger and you access them through Yoroi then you can pair the same ledger and see all the info there too.
      If you use Ledger then the keys to your funds always stay on the device and you use wallets like Yoroi or Daedalus to view the wallet
