A very popular question out there is how many ADA do I need to retire or how many ADA do I need to live off rewards. That is the question that made me create the 3 calculators that I show in this video.

Paul, you know the staking reward percentage decays at a rate of 0.3% every 5 days right. it’s Cardano’s version of the halving Bitcoin does. Might not be the best idea to rely on a rate that is heading to zero.
@@zeitgeist8870 Thanks Charles, Ya I covered that in another video the complete process of how future rewards will be defined. Its the reserve that has the decay factor so we need the volume of transactions to rise to make up some of that difference to keep rewards rates up - czcams.com/video/QqzOS7W9APs/video.html

People get so crazy about their holdings. Just get what you can and hold long term.
I just got 350 ADA and plan on gradually adding and holding for a very long time
I got 1088 shares and being more bullish

Last February I begged my gf to invest with me and together we had 110,000 ADA. She sold her half when it was .16 cents and I sold most of mine at .35 cents. Now all I have is 13k. Don't be like us. Hold and stake my friends.

@@wtmusic515 I think in 5 years Cardano will be probably by worth over $50.00 tbh. When the market cap reaches 1 trillion it will be worth around $32.0 and considering its partnership with Africa, migration of ethereum projects, and general increase of adoption by the public, a trillion market cap seems like the minimum in 5 years time. Bitcoin is already near a trillion and it's virtually useless.

Love the calculators! Bought my first 100 dollars ada at .30 cents a coin. Not looking to put all my eggs in any basket but the little nest egg built and added through cardano will just let compound over time. Its a fascinating project. If it goes above 8 dollars a coin ill take a little off and let the rest ride forever! I like your chanel am delegating to PAUL1now thanks for all the great content!

I love this insight. As much as I love my ADA, I wouldn't consider crypto as a retirement asset. I made sure I landed a government job here In Canada (Pandemic proof), and with my commercial/resto cleaning business, I'm confident for a secure retirement. Vanguard ETF for long term, Crypto and individual stocks for fun investing only.

@@CardanoWithPaul really appreciate this content! Even better would be to buy and hold the ADA in a cryptocurrency Roth IRA to avoid taxes on all gains. Several, like ITrustCapital and BitcoinIRA support BTC, ETH, etc, but do you know of any that supports purchasing ADA? This could provide massive savings in capital gains tax.

I’d like this video but with longer term ADA price projections factored in, longer term price projections might mean smaller quantity of ADA required, with a 10 year timeframe to reach goal?

One thing to keep in mind with calculations like this is that the 5% APY is calculated with comulative rewards. If you withdraw your rewards every 5 weeks you won't have 5% gain over the year, you'll have way less. To counter this you have to set your target of how many coins you hold higher or your income goal lower, or just accept the fact that you have to limit yourself how many times you will withdraw.

I wish I learned about ADA sooner; could have easily purchased 10k to 20k
With my rather limited funds, I managed to acquire 2,000 ADA. Oh well, better than nothing. And yeah, it's going to be a stretch but I suppose my target price range is $500 to $1000 to be able to live rather comfortably here in our country 😅

Thank you for the video 👍 One thing I was wondering about is the price fluctuation. As you know the volatility in crypto would mean that you could never guarantee a fixed income from rewards. Bear and bull cycles would would give you much different results.
Ya the price will always fluctuate so these values are more to give you an idea of what type of figures you would need rather then the price stopping when it hits that number as it will always be on the move
Lets hope Cardano will have a stable coin peg on too of ADA
Hi Paul, Calculators are great. I guess with Crypto nothing is certain as its still on project phase. Two factors that are crucial to planning longterm are the price of ADA and the % paid out. Both are subject to change quite quickly depending on markets and decisions. Very hard to plan at this very early stage in this space
Ya nothing is certain so these are just to give people rough ideas and let them work out their own numbers using this guide

@@Kratos30000 It may seem less likely to hit $40K, but to be honest, as wild as that sounds for ADA, nothings off the table in crypto and people shouldn’t really take MarketCap too seriously. People don’t have the best understanding of MC anyway. Also, we shouldn’t assume that Bitcoin is always going to be the #1 ranking cryptocurrency. We tend to easily make that assumption about Bitcoin.

Do you have to declare stacking as a taxable event or only declare if you eventually sell any for fiat?
It all depends on your country and the laws there. Once your numbers start to grow its always worth checking in with a tax professional
@@CardanoWithPaul anyone reading this don't be a fool if you are a us citizen do not lie on your taxes you will loose your ass when you get audited...i paid 141$ tax on 20k gain...don't lie its financially not worth it pay the taxes!

These calculators are great. The one thing that all of these calculator programs need is - an annual compounding, maybe a ten year listing of what the bag and rewards would be worth if people do not want to sell.
I'll be working on that next week, it just takes a bit more planning and coding when we talk about multiple years with 73 epochs in each year. Will do a follow up video when I get it done

Hi Paul, thanks for the staking calculators. Excellent tools. Might put some in your pool when I get my act together. I know this is a cardano channel but are there other staking projects that you believe to be worth a look at? My current favorite(even above cardano) is Hex - i'm not trying to shill other projects here, just interested in your perspective. If there is a better place for this question let me know. So I don't fudge up the cardano feed!
Thanks Iain I appreciate that. I don't hold any HEX, I know alot of people either love or hate it. I haven't looked into the full economics of it but I know there was some big gains in it for people who stuck with it after a rough start. The only other coin I am currently staking is DOT, my DOT holding are alot smaller than ADA but I might buy a bit more over time. ALGO, ZIL and VTHO are the other top staking coins I hear alot about but for now I currently dont hold any of them

Love the content! Do you think the APY of 5% will ever eventually go down as the pools grow?
@@blockchainbreakdown2009 that is a good question, its hard to tell right now as it will depend on how many transactions are on the network as over time we want to see transaction fees make up alot of the rewards that are paid out. When smart contracts are launched we should see alot more traffic on the network which gives more fees for rewards

Think about this for a second. The Ethereum Alliance is headed up by Microsoft, Intel, JPMorgan and now Visa is beginning to move their ledgers from the banks to the Ether blockchain. Will Cardano have those partners in a year? No. They never will yet youtubers shill bad investments to fill their pockets off of your backs… You see, the big company’s know where the smart- institutional money is going and are positioning themselves. They have vast data sets and time to know and control where the market will end up at. Those who invest in Cardano, Tron, Neo and EOS will be relegated to mere fraction of what one makes off of ETH or even BTC. These are ok products for small returns but will never command the market cap that ETH does.

I would say 3$ according to the amount of coins , not to mention Ada is still unfinished project , It depends if they deliver what they promised , And ETH for sure will fight back, Ada team needs to do a lot of work and publicity.
When I look for Ada I see a handful of different names. What is the one you are talking about?
The calculator seems fine, but it doesn't account for what the price would be after the blow off top. Maybe better to sell around the blow off top into stable coins and stake them for similar returns, but your capital is stable.
