I could listen to Doyle all day. I love him. Such an inspiring guitarist and person. Some of his tabulature scores can be quite daunting to many but his techniques can encourage bored players to revive themselves. Im playing again after 5 yr dormant.
    Word to all guitarists...
    If your frustrated..your trying.

Awesome video! Doyle is my favorite guitarist these days. I have successfully played Rock, Country, Blues electric guitar for 37 years. I have admired and been influenced by all the usual greats ( Hendrix, BB King, Chet Atins etc.) But I am fascinated with Doyle and Tommy Emmanuel and am now focusing on the acoustic guitar and playing like these two. No special amps, pedals, guitar cables etc. Just an acoustic guitar and pure skill and talent!

If God played guitar, he would sound just like Doyle. What a man! Looks like the nicest humble guy too. Doyle is incomparable. He is the greatest. I love you Doyle!

Love your wry comment, Alex. And as you infer from his CZcams videos he really is "the nicest humble guy too." Our mutual hero Chet Atkins was asked, late-in-life, if he would pay money to see any artist. His immediate reply, "Yes, someone like Doyle Dykes." As you may know Doyle was the only guitarist to play at Chet's memorial service at the Ryan Auditorium. Please see my "comment" posted this day about his recent visit to my city (which I helped arrange through a local guitar store).

First a big thank you to JillyBearGirl for this nine-minute treasure of Doyle Dykes playing his then signature model Guild (briefly available for several thousand U.S. dollars). Today he is endorsing his signature model of Godin (the Quebec based company that is now the world's largest guitar producer in total sales of all types of instruments). I live in the world's coldest major city, Winnipeg Manitoba Canada and recently Doyle Dykes performed for an audience that included about 40 guitarists. He was scheduled to play for 90 minutes but ended up playing for three hours. He must have made a mistake, but I didn't hear it. That's the truth. Think about that -- a virtuoso of such magnitude that he could play that long without any evident mistakes. This was at the Quest Music store in Winnipeg that sells Godin guitars including Doyle's signature model. With me were my guitarist son Ben (who when he saw Doyle at a Toronto music store a decade ago told me: "Doyle Dykes is the greatest guitarist I've ever seen." With Ben was his six year old son, my grandson Luke who looked terrified at the volume level. His Dad swept him up in his arms and took him to the back of the store to protect his ears a little. Before the show Doyle sat down next to Luke after I told Doyle "He knows who you are!" "Who am I?" said Doyle. But little Luke was paralyzed with fear so Doyle disarmingly high-fived his little hand. There were some magic moments that others might have missed, Doyle playing a few bars of the jazz standard HERE'S THAT RAINY DAY -- gorgeous chords and Doyle remarked that he "loved jazz guitar." I knew the names of every song he played including one he didn't introduce, except by way of saying he had just returned from Prague in the Czech Republic. When he finished the song, I called out, "And that was WRITTEN by a Czech -- Antonin Dvorak!" Yes, said Doyle "and today you don't hear it much except at . . . " and I finished his sentence, "At funerals." "Have you recorded that?" I asked. "Not yet, but I told my wife that I would do it for my next album." "I'm buying that album!" I shouted. Doyle's is the only version I'd heard by guitar giants since Winnipeg's Lenny Breau recorded it with our mutual hero Chet Atkins for their STANDARD BRANDS album. Anyway, all this by way of saying that at the 41:00 minute mark of this Facebook hour-long feature Doyle took my breath away with a much more fully developed, heavenly version of GOIN' HOME. I just played it for my wife who said, "I'm pretty sure they played that for President Bush in Washington today." God bless Doyle Dykes. -- Mark B of the frozen North.
