    I did this video for the first time today. I have never tried yoga before but a friend said Kundalini yoga would help me. It feels like a great start to my day.

    Quality of my energy: much stronger. I guess I've gained a lot of energy since I started this. The first several times I did the center squeezes it exhausted me so much that I basically had to completely collapse afterward. This is the first time I've tried this video and it doesn't seem as challenging as the others, but the big center squeeze didn't really tire me out that much this time.
    So, just feeling happier about that now. :) Thank you Brett!

    I would like to thank you for making videos that give the basic idea behind each type of yoga you introduce and making it approachable for beginners from all backgrounds. Understandably, this isn't a full blown class as you are trying to ease people into yoga and making it for everyone. So many online vids start out full blast without building up any kind of strength and can be discouraging for those trying to figure out what best suits us. You actually make a point to address core strength several times in simple easy to follow steps for beginners. Moreover, I appreciate the 6 series introduction on Kundalini Yoga you did and the explanations you gave were just enough to get the idea across without it becoming overwhelming. I also like how you encourage people to seek qualified teachers to guide them through the full process.
    Thank you for the information about the neurological aspects of yoga as it is one of the reasons I started yoga. Having a few neurological disorders, I saw a correlation between your vids as well as other sources and my many physical therapy sessions and exercises. While some days I might need something modified, other days I do not. Your information about the different types of Yoga also mirrors that of the videos I have watched and the articles I have read on the respective yoga practices. It will be nice to be able to do the more advanced workouts you have posted one day. Currently, I am working on flexibility, strength and pain management. Have a wonderful New Year!

    I'm glad I came back to this video again. I was quite tired by the end, but I could also tell I had more energy than my first attempt of this video. There are also some things you say here that I don't remember hearing in any of your other videos, like "fingers like steel" at the end of breath of fire. I'll have to try to remember what you say in this one.

      First you must understand what yoga means. Yoga is a process whereby a person can connect with the Supreme Brahman or Lord Krishna. This leads to a state of pure bliss. It is therefore a religious practice and for the serious students only. Hatha Yoga is only a small part of yoga. Look up the first and original book on yoga called the Bhagavad Gita As it is or the second book , Patanjali Yoga Sutras.

    • @gjwagner1856
      @gjwagner1856 Před 4 lety

      If you are serious about yoga practice then be prepared to give up meat, eggs, tea and coffee, alcohol, cigarettes among other things. A veg diet is a part of Ahimsa teaching and it helps to purify the mind and body. Some say that eating plants also involves violence as if we didn't already know that but plants have a different make up to animals physiologically. The laws of karma also come into play. So now you can get some idea about how involved yoga practice is and should be taken up only if we can appreciate the teachings involved. 😇 I enjoy Surya namaskar which is Sun worship done at sunrise, in other words, Sun God whose name is Vivasvan who was the first person to hear about this science of yoga from Lord Krishna. 💝🌹

      OM' and 'ONG' are two different words. 'ONG' is part of the Adi Mantra used to tune in for a kundalini class, as explained in the video. ONG is from Gurmukhi (you can research it on Google), which is most often used in Kundalini yoga. Thank you for watching!

    • @Aleph4444
      @Aleph4444 Před 4 lety

      @@BrettLarkinYoga ok, let me explain what Kundalini yoga is. Kundalini yoga preparing our body, mind and chakras for Kundalini awakening. Some exercises from Hatha and Kriya yoga for preparing body (actually energy channels in the body, could be replaced with Tai Chi, Qugong, similar), Raja (classic yoga) work with mind and Mantra yoga + elements of Raja and Laya yoga - work with chakras. There are special mantra exists for every single chakra.
      Kundalini awakening takes months, but preparation for it - several years if not decades. In the time, we need to develop all chakras + get enough of experience for to be able to open/close them any time we want, stable and completely safe for our mind. This is the main part of Kundalini yoga. All the other is a side work with low priority, because chakras always takes most of preparation time.
      There is no such thing as Kundalini Kriya, it's just some exercises from modern Kriya yoga. It could be replaced with Hatha yoga or Tai Chi, Qugong, etc.
      Btw, in Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Kriya yoga is not about preparing body at all. It's about discipline, study of spiritual texts and devotion to God. It means asceticism, etc. This is the only Kriyas that Kundalini yoga practiced hundreds of years ago... It's just in modern times it start to be something completely different. Same as asanas, that before was just a stable and comfort positions for meditations.

      Interesting comment about the mantra and movements. I am new to yoga and I have just been researching and watching vids to try and find what suits me the best personally. That exact mantra and movements in this vid and her other vids show up in every other vid I have watched for beginners. In her other vids she goes into more detail on the basics and such that she doesn't here. She does this in 6 episodes and her podcasts. She start to address what you described as Kundalini Yoga in those posts. So if this isn't Kundalini Yoga then please point me to a video that is, because her vids are no different then all of the others I have watched and information I have been able to find.
