    In my years in photography, I realized that you don't need the best, sharpest, most expensive lens if you are color grading/running presets to edit your photos. Trust me.. these lenses are good enough for 90% of the time, probably 95% if you are not professional.

    I am very happy with the image quality of my copy of this lens. 18 months after I bought the lens, it stopped communicating with the camera body when in aperature priority mode. It was always shooting at F/16 (AF was not affected). So I switched over to shutter priority and used the aperature ring on the lens to set my F-stop. I continue to use the lens as much as when it was new.

    Do you have any AF accuracy issues with AFS/AFC in burst shots? There's been a couole of reports that it misses focus a quite a few shots in a burst or single shots but then other shots are in focus.
    How's AFC for tracking for moving kids compared to say the 15-45mm, 18-55mm, xf23 f2.0, or Xf35 F2.0?

  • @Fuzzbrause
    @Fuzzbrause Před 4 lety +3

    Thank you very much for the review. Actually I find the 23mm focal lenghth somewhat challenging in terms of the choices you have on the fuji system. Both the f1.4 as well as the f2 have there issues. Especially the minimum focal distance. If the 23 f1.4 would be on par with the 16mm f1.4 it would be a no brainer, even at that high price. The 23f2 is just too soft wide open. If I need 23mm I pick the 18-55 as well. The results are more than just fine and do not justify spending that much extra money on the available primes. Once my budget allows it I rather consider the x100v as my 23mm source.

    I'm waiting for the Tokina version and hope it will have a clicking aperture ring.

    Hi Omar, appreciate your style of presentation. I own a XT20 here in the Philippines and fighting with lens mould on my 18-55 and even M42 Pentax lenses. Any ideas ?

      Potatoe Joe it’s the heat and humidity. I think you need a special storage case where you pump out the air and put those sachets to absorb any moisture in the air. Also using the lens and letting sunlight through the lens often will help.

      I also stay in a very humid environment. What I did was to purchase a clear storage case and I put 2 rechargeable cilica boxes inside with my lenses.. every month I will put the lenses under a uv bulb...4 years and no mould. Give it a go.

    Eith regards to price, this lens competed with used. I get some great results with used lenses that were regarded very desirable a few years ago. I don't see much of an improvement in the quality of pictures in the last couple of decades so that's not where the improvements lie.

    nice review. Perhaps good te mention that moving your background further away from your subject also incurs more bluriness! I mostly do portraits on grass fields or beach where the background is mostly far away

    Another helpful video. Would have seriously considered this lens only I have my heart set on the Fuji 27mm pancake lens for compactness, but the price has increased a lot since lockdown 😭
