I live in Texas, in a county that is purple. Born and raised in Texas, personally, illegal immigration has impacted my life. Car insurance, the rates. If some don't have insurance, we are paying more for uninsured motorists. Secondly, being the medical field, some lose job opportunities because their not bilingual.

They closed a high school in Brooklyn(James Madison) and the children home school, so they could house migrants in their high school. The school serves underprivileged black children, and many of them are from low income households. When you start interfering with the education of our children, I draw the line. Because of the outrage and hate calls, they finally returned the children to school.

Okay so boom. I live and work in NYC. I feel very conflicted about the migrant situation right now, being that one of my parents is American and one is not. ANYWAY this situation has completely taken over tax funded services. I work for a tax funded city agency and the mayor has made us PRIORITIZE asylum seekers. The city has funneled so many resources to them that are needed by underserved communities, the veteran population, the justice impacted population etc.

    • @UpWiddetimes

Also, everyone on earth knows how high our rents are in NYC. Some of these asylum seekers are getting connected to housing by way of vouchers(and other resources), and I mean luxury high rises. Some people that work 40 hours a week are unable to afford these units.

Funky Dineva's perspective is humanitarian but not well rounded. There're many nuances to this immigration issue. US suburbs are changing and becoming less safe. Thanks to Latin immigration.
The number of drugs inside suburbia high schools has increased. The most dangerous public schools in the DMV area have a high percentage of Latin immigrants.
Another point : Most Hispanics/ Cubans / Latin Americans Do Not like Black people and they can be more racist than the Anglo- Saxxons.
Go try to LIVE in south America, as a black person, Funky Dineva.

Funky. I love you. But you’re wrong about the immigrant situation. I’m from Chicago and my family is still there. I’m going to sum this up like this. You talked about people with stable jobs. In Chicago a stable job that pays the bills is not readily available to ADOS(American Descendants of Slavery) for a variety of reasons. We are struggling due to things beyond our control. We were promised things (job training, shelters for homeless teens, emergency shelter for fire victims, cash assistance, shelter from the cold for the homeless etc.) ALL of these things are being denied to us. We are citizens. It seems like our citizenship means nothing. I understand that they are here because of economics and crime. Furthermore, I also understand that the US is behind a lot of the instability that is going on in their home countries. But the brunt of the pressure. The US economy is not expanding like it was a generation or two ago. The majority of the factory and heavy industry jobs that people used to get into the middle class no longer exist. Now those jobs are giving preference to the illegal immigrants. I have compassion for ALL of the immigrants. However, my people were here first and are citizens. Resources are very limited and they should come first. In addition, all of my relatives have jobs. No one is a felon. And they are struggling.

Well Funky, here in Chicago the migrant situation is out of control, they had nowhere to go, so they had them sleeping in police stations inside and outside, it was mumps outbreaks, the officers had to work under those conditions. On top of not knowing exactly what type of criminals your dealing with….we have children we’re concerned about too. There are videos. The migrants are coming by the bus loads so far I believe it’s up to 20,000 in a short amount of time and forcing the homeless of Chicago out of the shelters, there were children sleeping in the cold under tents, they came with no coats or idea of where they were going to stay, no plan, it also has been said that allegedly Venezuela was emptying their prison and psychiatric facilities and sending them here, if I’m not mistaken you really can’t tell who is who because they’re undocumented, it has also been said that there is gang affiliation and the kids are fighting with the kids from Chicago for turf at the schools. Also the funding that has been allocated for buildings, hotels could have been used for Chicago citizens. There have been arrest for crimes, and prostitution. Yes, everyone deserves a chance but Chicago has enough of its own issues and do we really have to be the clean up woman for everyone. The clean up woman she’s tough and she really cleans up…..but we’ve had enough.
Bringing children across like that with no plans, no coats, no place to stay, in -30 windchill is a form of abuse, for handouts it’s no different and delusional than the African American young lady that went to Texas and she got dragged.
Its just not so cut and dry of people wanting a good life, and giving them a chance at what cost to us? Definitely don’t want anymore gang activity or anything else. You asked:) love you❤
Everyone doesn’t want hand outs, but they want to keep their jobs, if someone is willing to take a job for a couple dollars less….if I’m not mistaken some people lost jobs because they shut a hotel down to use for shelter, what about the entry level jobs that are needed to get higher paying salaries especially the trades, if it was a win win for everybody then ok, but someone is getting the short in of the stick. Don’t know if it’s a color thing but green is definitely involved. It’s been alleged that the migrants pay thousands to get across.

I worked in healthcare for many years, and I can tell you that immigration affects anyone who pays for health coverage. Why? Because the hospital must treat people for free and in turn, they push that cost onto the health carriers, like Blue Cross or Aetna and so on…and in turn those carriers increase your premium. You might say “all people with no insurance go to the hospital”, but the statistics show that undocumented people who are treated at the hospital accounts for 68%. Why? Because they do not have a SSN which allows the debt follow them, unlike those who have a social those hospital bills are reflected on their credit reports. This is not to be bias against any group, its just facts!

Texas has an immigration problem. I moved from Florida to Texas 2 yrs ago and I had no clue of how immigration is jacking up our economy. Immigration is a BIG problem. I have a post construction business and I can’t survive because they keep giving the jobs to the immigrants that will work for $10 a day and they pocket the rest. How can I make and I have to pay for taxes and liability insurance and they don’t. I can’t get in because the immigrants have taken the jobs. I’ve even tried to subcontract and work for the immigrants companies and they won’t give me a job because they think I’m ICE. Every time I try to go get a contract on construction site they’re all looking at me because they’re not used to another race being on the construction site. Immigrants hold it down her and they keep they’re own kind working. Now I have to work on a state job because I can’t get into the construction business. I’m sad and disappointed I can’t work or get a chance in my own country. I like with the Governor is doing by taking into the states hands to help remedy this situation. I know immigrants want a better life and others want to come to this great country but it’s a process. Americans can’t just walk in any country so let’s put a wrap on this as best we can. His stance on immigration is not objective, logical, or fair. I live in Georgia, and my concerns are perfectly valid, because the long-term consequences of having millions of immigrants flooding across our border will absolutely affect me directly, just further down the line. The illegal immigrants coming to this country are not restricted to New York City, Chicago, Denver, and other sanctuary cities. They will eventually be everywhere.
There is also a huge political issue here. I am concerned about the California-nization of this country, and obviously, Joe Biden is encouraging this immigration fiasco to manufacture millions of new Democrats down the line. Instead of winning the ideological arguments, he is attempting to flip the electorate.

I live in Boston Massachusetts and I also work at a homeless shelter and married to a legal immigrant.
The issue that I have with some of the illegal immigrants and this entire unorganized process is that they are not screening some if not any. We are being swamped with HIV, chicken pox and past deported criminals. I can't speak for all, but what we are dealing with is people who are not interested in ESL classes, job readiness classes or working. I seen family's come in with one child or pregnant and now have three or four children. Free daycare and if it's raining or cold they won't send them. They complain about the room size and the beds being a twin bed. Our program was very clean and nice we have rooms that are large enough to fit a family of 4-5 people. Now we are infested with bedbugs, roaches and mice. They don't want to clean up after themselves, and the men are very arrogant and aggressive. We are not dealing with the immigrants of the past. Immigration
I live in NYC; Bronx specifically. I also work in a family shelter and have been working with the homeless population since 2014.
Mayor Adams has cut they city budget by 15%. My shelter had to make staff cuts to accommodate the cut where staffing and resources are limited.
Summer Rising program was also cut which is a summer school program which benefits those who are in shelters. 60% of children living in shelter do not graduate high school.
My gripe is that they are catering to new migrants rather those who been living in their country for over 20 years. They are stuck in shelter with no way out. Being undocumented does not afford one to access affordable housing especially in NYC.
The issue is that there is an affordable housing crisis and new migrants have access to perks which will allow them affordable housing and they are taking shelter beds away from natives.
And people who live in shelters are employed but it’s hard to maintain housing.

Immigrates are and were getting dropped off in those places that you say need to be quiet. They’ve been dropped in the dark and without an announced manifest… Texas is only doing what has been going on for a minute by this government.

Each one of your comments has a rebuttal. It’s very unfortunate that you are limited to CNN.
My suggestion is everyone who’s an advocate should take them in & finance them without government assistance. All of their medical, education and housing. Once that is observed then my support can be addressed. It’s easy to have compassion off of other’s money and back.

Now as far as how it affects me, I live in the Bronx, the influx of migrants have caused inflation in our supermarkets to the point a dozen of eggs are almost 5.00. These people are not farmers. They are professionals and have the same credentials we have but are willing to work for less money. This causes entry pay to be lowered and the cost of living goes up while wages go down. Well, just like you said about our tax dollars and so forth. We can't pick and choose where they go because John & Johnette Q Public don't have any direct choice over where our tax dollars go. If you're a citizen of the United States, you pay taxes so you have a right to a say, and the right to feel some kinda way about any and everything that goes on here in the United States including immigration no matter where you live in this country. If it impacts Alaska, it impacts Atlanta, GA. If it impacts Hawaii, it impacts New York City. Why? Because we're all citizens of this nation and should indeed stand up for what is and is not correct.

The President is abdicating his duty as commander-in-chief by allowing in untold millions of unvetted non-citizens. Any citizen who voices concerns about the deliberately created immigration fiasco currently underway does not have to have a specific personal horror story to be rightly against the policy of open borders. The President's poll numbers are being tanked by backlash from black people in sanctuary jurisdictions, so this whole argument about racism is pointless. The nation is clearly saying no, which we, the people, have the right to do, evidenced by the fact that Donald Trump is favored at this point to win the election in November.

Funky, I have to disagree with you on the ILLEGAL immagration situation. You should better inform yourself on the topic AND process of LEGAL immigratiom. It is a process, but it's a LEGAL process for a reason.
    1. Application
    2. Sponsorship (to not become a FINANCIAL BURDEN on society)
    3. Health and medical check ups and tests( to make sure no diseases are brought onto the country.
    4. Criminal background checks (to ensure criminals are not entering the country to cause more problems)
I live in WA State and many of the immigrantas are being shipped to different parts of the United States therefore it affects EVERYONE, not jjust the border states. The whole thing is out of control and getting worse by the day. All these things I've mentioned also cost a lot of money. These things also take a lot of time. The biggest problem with my people is they think issues that happen within our community are not all of ours.
I’ve seen the other side of mass immigration and I learned how neighborhoods in California were snatched from the black community. Given to the Hispanics and Chinese. The children of the immigrant are ready for war and the Black Americans are their enemies but not by our choice.
If I’m in Ohio why wouldn’t I scream for my brothers and sisters who are purposely not hired because the employer has met his minority quota hiring anyone of them from anywhere and it becomes legal to ignore us, give loans and homes to them instead of us.
Do you not know that what has become of California can easily become that of the rest of America. To your point none of this is ours but by our constitution and laws we are Americans and there are certain rights that we are entitled to and I think it’s unfair for anyone to come here, benefit for the rights we fought for and then we become disregarded by them and put last or none at all.
You can’t tell us why we’re upset especially since you don’t understand, but know that Trump will be your next president because we are sick of it. --LaTaisha Nicole

They don't speak the language bc so many of them just got here. So they just look at you and smile (Hispanics are very nice ppl). Houston in particularly, whenever you go out, to a business, or restaurant, its Mexicans working in all these places. The more employable hispanics speak better English, but there a real communication barrier.

Funky! Again you’ve spoken without doing your research, Gayle filed for divorce LAST YEAR, however the divorce proceedings take MONTHS if not years to resolve esp with her husbands wealth she asked the court to essentially prevent her husband from moving / selling assets in the interim. according to another CZcamsr WHO ACTUALLY READ THE divorce decree, Gayle’s next court appearance w/ her soon to be ex is in MARCH!

In Chicago they had them sleeping in front of police stations and inside. They were taking some black gyms on the west side (populated black area) to turn them into homes for them….its been a huge issue over here

NYC does not need any more homeless ppl and that is what the immigration has done not to me personally but to the metropolitan area . They are homeless in the streets, pan handling with their babies, and its sad

Migrant crisis exacerbates the housing and rent crisis.
Regarding corporate welfare, it's true that that is screwed up but unfortunately that ain't gon change bc it benefits the powers that be. So we have poor citizens competing for the crumbs of the social welfare that does exist with the lack of money (due to the rich who ain't ever gon be held accountable for paying their fair share of taxes).

I think this issue is more complex than if I got it financially then don’t worry about it. It’s more so impactful on people who don’t have it. Like you state it hurts us in many ways like you stated housing which we already are 10 million short…so this issue hurts more in the long game.

Its not racist to expect citizens be prioritized over everyone else. They're prioritized over underserved communities. It may not affect everyone directly now, but it will.

That's very bold to say about people bcus it's people making over what was once good money that needs certain government assistance. And I'm sure they're not blaming immigrants but it's ridiculous for people to not be able to afford things like food due to the cost of living then can't get assistance that people who aren't citizens come get. But I noticed you only pointing out the issues women have not addressing the issues gays could have or even men. Yes I'm offended for all hard working black folks that bust their asses but gotta choose between how many meals I can afford for the week or how much gas I can afford due to rent & bills. I'm speaking economy u get a raise more taxes landlords raising rent bcus theirs no cap but it's always the women to get the judgement.

Black men don't know anything about effective leadership. just look at countries where black men are in charge. That's why no one consults them about anything important.
