  • Raising Cane's has made a name for itself in the crowded fast-food chicken market by doing just a few things really well. They have chicken fingers, garlicky and buttered Texas toast, and a highly popular dipping sauce they simply call "Cane's Sauce."
    What's the sauce made of? They're not telling. Only a few of the chain's employees know the sauce's highly guarded recipe, and they're sworn to secrecy. Some fans have tried to make copycat versions of the simultaneously tangy and smoky sauce with a hint of spice, but they're really just guessing. So what's behind this magical sauce? We have learned what we could to make so that Raising Cane's iconic Cane's sauce secret is finally revealed.

    I love Cane’s but unfortunately I now live where there isn’t a Cane’s (yet). I have bought a cup full when I visit Louisiana. Really want them to start selling it by the jar, but if they did that they would have to list the ingredients on the bottles. Reasonably understandable.

    I’m from south Louisiana, we make this exact sauce for crawfish boils. We have been years before canes was a thing, keep in mind canes is a Louisiana product. The recipe is basically a mix of ketchup mayo Worcestershire sauce and your seasoning of choice I normally use Tony’s and sometimes a dab of hot sauce is a final touch and that’s basically the cane sauce recipe it’s very easy to make I don’t know what the big secret is it’s super simple.

      It is if you’ve grown up making it or something very similar your whole life. We know exactly what it is but someone from Montana who wouldn’t know what a crawfish was if it bit ‘em on the nose would likely have never made anything like it. For them it wouldn’t be so easy to replicate it.

      Yea, it’s a pretty simple sauce. If you go at it with the intention of tasting the flavors, it’s easy to tell there ketchup, mayo, some extra vinegar, salt and pepper.
      I made a similar sauce the other day, added in cayenne pepper and paprika, aside from the fact that I used miracle whip rather than mayo, it was identical in all the other flavor profiles.

    • @hhcamera
      @hhcamera Před 6 měsíci

      It has more than just mayo and ketchup with pepper. Leave the pepper out of your grandma's sauce add sweet pickles and you have basic thousand Island. It has more complex flavors with Worcestershire sauce and maybe some sweet chilly sauce to boot. Defiantly Mao Base.
      It reminds me of Comeback sauce, a southern dipping sauce from the 60s. I like that it reminds you of your Grandmother thats comforting.
