The sound on my laptop is sometimes good; most times way too low. The laptop has been like that since new. On my previous laptop, the sound was always great. Is that an indication that there is a problem with the computer given that it works sometimes?
To avoid that, I have been using my SMART TV to provide sound. Now, the picture shows, but no sound.
The laptop has only one HDMI port. I'm concerned that so much plugging and unplugging is a problem. Is there a way to prevent issues with that?
Other than buying a new cable, is it possible to determine if a pin is broken, if so how? I hate to buy a new cable if not needed.
    Thanks again.

Loved the video! I am in the process of replacing my 27" monitor with hopefully >>>> A 38" to 40" 4K UHD TV. You gave me some great in-sights on doing this, plus an additional unexpected in-sight.
The other day, I purchased a couple of beautiful shimmering black negligee's, was them and hung them out to dry. A few hours later, I go outside and find that they are missing. I thought to myself, that someone else clearly had more need for my new sexy negligee's and just let it go. I think next time, i'll set up a thief camera!
So here I am presently watching your video and BAMMM!, I see my new sexy see through, black negligee's draped over your windows as privacy shades. I'm totally shocked.....But likely not as shocked as you will be when I tell your wife! LOL
Smile and have a great day.........

Very good video here- clear voice with easy to understand instructions. I do
have a question here for you. I have an HP laptop with only a VGA port, and
a Sony Bravia TV with a VGA port ( and 2 hdmi ports) In order to avoid buying
a converter from analogue( VGA ) TO digital ( on hdmi for TV) I think I should
just go VGA on my laptop to VGA on my TV - right ???
If I do this- you said something on this video that confuses me ??? You said
VGA ports will only relay "video" and NOT "audio." I'm sure your right, however
I've seen videos whereby they are going VGA ( laptop) to VGA ( on tv) and "also"
plugging in an "audio cable" from the laptop to the TV. Would this not prevent
someone from having to hook up the laptop to "separate speakers, as you say.
I would think if you hooked up an audio cable from your laptop to your TV -
wouldn't you then have the benefit of sound from your TV speakers. Can you
explain this ??? here, or send me an inmail ( personal) thanks-a great video.

Every video shows a laptop.. but it ain't the same with a desktop cos it's like you're blind trying to connect everything and trying to mirror to check whet is wrong and what is working?...And.. connecting a desktop PC to a smart TV.. should it get a signal diectly or should I look for a specific channel or connection on my smart TV? thank ou so much, this is wow for me but still cannot connect my laptop to my tv. i plugged in the HDMI cable, i choose HDMI 1 on my tv (as it is plugged in hdmi1) the sound goes off my laptop but the image on my tv monitor does't come. it only says shortly :not supported and then, it says on my tv monitor, no signal. this pandemy keeps us inside and i got netflix for 1 month, but the laptop monitor is too small. you explain things so well! are there any other settings i should follow? thank you so much!!! greetings and blessings from Romania!

Hey, Zack. I'm using my Vizio as a monitor and it's working, BUT every so often the screen goes blank for five seconds and then reappears. Almost like the TV is resetting. Any advice?
