  • Many of today's TVs use HDMI, DVI, or VGA. Here is how you can easily connect your PC to a High-Definition TV. Using HDMI or DVI cable will provide the best results. Be advised an adapter may be required to interconnect a PC to a TV.

    It will depend on the connections the TV will accept. VCR and DVD Players can connect to the TV using A/V RCA cables. Many Blu-ray players also use these cables. For A/V connections you can use an A/V switch that will allow you to switch between the devices. as a last resort you can get HDMI converters for the connection needed for the tv. -MrFixit

    When I try to connect my laptop to my tv w/hdmi, I do everything that you have said... PLUS what other similar videos stated, but I still have the problem of my tv screen "flickering in and out" and never staying on. I have done resolution and tried to follow all instructions, yet with same problem. If you could, give me suggestions to fix this problem. This happens on both televisions and have changed hdmi to all 5 ports with no success. Help please!

    My tv has a vga port and my secondary output from my computer hooks up fine at 1080. MY question is, if I get a digital converter to use the hdmi ports of the TV will I see an improvement or will it just look like the soft analog VGA signal I am already getting?

    Awesome Video - again!
    Maybe you could do a video on streaming? We got rid of cable and only stream through a "Roku" box and another brand. However, the local cable started offering all the TV channels via the Internet on their homepage. Isn't there a device that would allow the streaming of those programs without a direct hookup such as this?

    Mr. FixIt...How do I get sound from Samsung Tv (using as a monitor with HDMI) and my older PC (with VGA and HDMI adapter)? I have been told that I do not need an audio cable because the HDMI cable should carry sound, but it sounds like you are suggesting that I do need an audio cable because I am using the adapter, just like you demonstrate in this video. My set up with my cables are exactly like this demo. I just want to hear sound from my computer through my Samsung TV monitor. Help???

    • @ESRepair
      @ESRepair  Před 5 lety

      VGA does not carry the audio channels like HDMI. There are adapters that will convert the VGA into HDMI with the added Audio input. They can be powered by the USB or a standalone power adapter for about $15. You'll need a VGA to HDMI w/Audio adapter.

    Hey, I got an issue connecting cables to my samsung UHD 55 7series Smart TV to my desktop.. most videos show either Laptop connection only which does not help since you can see what you're doing to mirror your pc image to your tv screen... but do not show Desktop PC connections where you're blind connecting things and trying to mirror the PC screen to your TV..and they forget the fact that if they're showing that it means they already have an image mirrored..buit what about explaining the part where you sill don't have an image on your TV and trying to get signal and it only says to check your cable connections and know you have followed several instructions from several videso and none worked.. ? Please help? My last hope is to order a DVI to HDMi adapter...yet I have already a VGA 2 HDMi adapter and HDMi 2 AV and none worked or at least couldn't figure how to connect cos most videos are either in Hindi or in Indian english where you can't understand a thing either cos of the accent of cos of the background loud music... HELP please... thanks!!=)

    • @ESRepair
      @ESRepair  Před 5 lety

      If you bought a VGA to HDMI adapter, it should have a separate power cord. Some power from a USB connection and others use a wall power adapter. It needs power to convert VGA into HDMI.

    • @ESRepair
      @ESRepair  Před 5 lety

      The VGA to HDMI adapters requires power to convert analog into digital. They usually can be connected to a power source using either a USB adapter or wall adapter.

      If the GPU suppoets HDMI v1.4 the Audio is transmitted via the same cable as the video. DVI and VGA require a separate auido cable to either the TV or external speakers or a surround system.

    That a single link Dvi...theres 5 types...

    • @ESRepair
      @ESRepair  Před 4 lety

      Technically there are only 4 types. DVI-A is rarely ever used. GPUs often use Dual-link DVI-I while others used Dual-link DVI-D. DVI-I Carries both Analog and Digital signals and DVI-D is pure Digital. Single link is used for up to 1980x1200 resolution and Dual-link is used for up to 2560x1600 resolution which is just below 4K resolution and DVI cannot carry Audio channels. Hence why HDMI is preferred over DVI.
