Introduction to Kontiki Longline Fishing for Snapper with Chris and his Powertiki

A Kontiki is a device fitted out with a trolling motor for dragging out a longline from the beach up to 2 km offshore. It's also known as a beach torpedo. This is a very popular way to fish around the sandy surf beaches of New Zealand. There are a few different Kontiki manufacturers such as Powertiki, Sea Harvester and the ever popular and somewhat premium Seahorse GPS Kontiki.
In this video, we travel to a fantastic beach in the beautiful Bay of Plenty to learn more about Kontiki longline fishing for snapper.
We meet Chris and Ada who live right by the beach and provide accommodation for fishos who would like to explore this area and perhaps want to learn more about Kontiki fishing and surfcasting. Chris is showing us his customized Powertiki and then we do some night fishing for snapper with a great bonfire by the beach.
The long sandy beaches of the Bay of Plenty are great places for Kontiki fishing.

Pretty expensive to buy. New with electric winch and all you'd be looking in the range of $4k NZD or 2.5k USD
