- Hi friends today I am going to show 12v Battery Charger With Old SMPS. Here I cut and remove all output wires without yellow ,black and green.Then I connect any black wire with green for switching.

My friend, I gave the like just because i learned about the green-black connection to start the atx. As people saying bellow, there are two things i think you didn't considered: 1- To charge a 12v battery, you need 14v (is there a way to do this with this device?); 2- The amperage (I think it's necessary a consumer or a resistance in line to limit the amperage, am i wrong?).
It’s not a car battery tho. Charging these with 12 and about an amp is ok.the thing that confused me was why he bypassed the grounded power connector lol.

You can't charge a 12v battery with 12v supply, you need at least 13.8v supply. You will destroy your battery because you are not fully charging it.
You need to modify the Power Supply to raise the voltage to around 14 volts in order to charge a 12V battery... You can't really charge it at 12.2V...

You must use aboost converter and step up DC-DC modul. & voltage must be boost to 14,5 volt, Then you can use it..

12.4volts - 14.8volts
Voltage feedback circuit can be modified to adjust the output voltage.
Not enough voltage out to properly charge a lead acid or gell cell battery. They require 14 to 15 volts dc output.
Add 3.5v from orange wire to make it 15v.just put diode to bit lower voltage

very nice video. But one thing i wouldn't do it leave the 5v and 3.3v without any heat shrink on it. You will have some problems if touching the metal.

Do not build this!!!! Your way will not work as you need at least 14v to charge a battery. It can be set up to do this at about 0.5amps but not that way. You will need to use the -12v lead [blue] and the +3.3 lead [orange] which will give about 15.5v at about 0.5amps which may be enough to slowly trickle charge at battery.
There are 3 things that I believe you did wrong:
1) In order to charge a 12V battery, the power supply has to be 14V
2) You should add a current limiter and an auto off system when the battery is fully charged
3) Instead of soldering a power cord on the pins, you should better use the device's cord, because now the pins are exposed to mains power when you plug it in
AGREE WITH PREVIOUS COMMENTS. BATTERIES CAN NOT BE CHARGED WITH REGULATED 12V VOLTAGE/CURRENT. WHEN BATTERY IS LOW IN VOLTAGE A CURRENT RUSH WILL OCCUR AND BURNS THE P/S. THAT BATTERY WHEN STARTING CHARGE WILL NEED MORE THAN THOSE 12V .

Use the standard computer power lead for the AC. Do not use your way. It does not have a grounding earth. IT IS DANGEROUS!!!!!!!!!!. You have not disconnected and removed the computer power terminal which will be now LIVE and DANGEROUS. When you plug in your modification if you touch those terminals or short them accidently and you will FRY!!!!!!!!!! Or this is what you intended to do!!!!!

Hello bro nice video, but your knowledge is weak, it will not charge the battery, because smps is giving only 12v, it should be minimum 14v across the battery terminal to charge.

Good way to destroy a battery, each battery has a limit for charging current you did not use one, voltage increase can be reached using capacitors and can get a value of 14-14.5 . And please use ground otherwise you will get shock or death !!!!!

You need some sort of boost converter as 12.2 volts is not enough, also the amps depend on the power supply some can deliver 40 amps and some much less there will be a wattage rating on the PSU

The amp is not a problem. The 7ah is the capacity of your 12v battery. The lower the amp of the charger, the slower the time it takes to charge. So, if you have a 5 amp charger, it will be quicker to charge than the 2 amp.
