- FIRST DRIVE: The Kona gets a total redesign from Hyundai for 2024. On the outside of the N-Line you will discover a unique front fascia, 19in wheels, rear spoiler and dual-outlet exhaust with finished exhausts. On the inside are (2) 10.25in screens, N steering wheel and sport seats. Under the hood is 1.6L turbocharged inline-4 that is mated to a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2024 Hyundai Kona N-Line a BETTER sport SUV than a Honda HR-V?

The Key fob actually looks pretty cool to me, the way they incorporated the Hyundai emblem is really unique
I think it looks like a 90s tamagotchi... not great.
I had about half a dozen of other CZcamsrs I’m subscribed to who are reviewing the new Hyundai Kona, but I chose Raiti’s Rides as my first stop! Great job as always, Joe!
I love how the denim blue matches your Raiti’s rides shirt, very well! Excellent with you as always 🙌🏾 🙌🏾
Not in the market for this kind of car but it's nice to see Hyundai giving the other car manufacturers a run for their money.
Make sure to take Mazda out of that. Mazda no longer competes with them
Love it! I just wish the sporty model had the option for ventilated seats and the blind spot view. I prefer this look than the limited.
You are not the first to say that!
@@RaitisRidesLitterally just ordered the N line S today in the UK. That model has the ventilated seats and blind spot cameras.
I didn't know what "blind spot view" was until I googled it.
Seems like a nifty feature 👍
A great looking car. Should sell extremely well. 33k sounds about right. The Key fob is ghastly. Love that subtle blue/gray color. Hyundai is gaining market share every year. They are a doing a phenomenal job of improving their products. And you get a spare tire! So nice to see. I don't trust a car without a spare tire.
Chevy Trax will beat this one.
@@joro7304the new Trax looks great in person. Too bad no available AWD.
The Trax competition is the Venue, Soul, Kicks, Outlander Sport, and Renegade. You need the Trailblazer to compete against the Kona.
I agree with you but I haven't used my spare in 10 years. Is it just a habit and not a necessity? Oh and I've gone with Soultronic orange...
It all depends on how much construction and potholes you encounter. The Bay Area has a lot of hazards.@@billdyer9443
watching this from australia i didn't realise how much more features we get, we only get 3 specifications (technically 2 as the "top of the range" is literally the middle spec with a sunroof) we get ventilated seats rear heated seats (3 stage) and so much more, makes me appreciate how 'less' complicated it is to choose what you want and how much we get given. None the less this is a really good all around car in every country (from what ive seen) cant wait to get my hybrid top spec delivered.
Love the Raiti presentation and I got up close and personal to a Hyundai last week and they don’t make me go “cross eyed” lol with joy. Idk those SUVs and sedans ain’t my cup of tea but I’m sure tons love em.
Looks very impressive. Solid contender for new car to look out for in my eyes. Can't wait to go to LAAS and see how it looks in person.
I have ordered one in Soultronic orange. I liked it a lot on a test drive. Watching reviews while I wait.
Thank you so much. Always enjoy watching your videos. Love the passenger's shelf. Love the tailpipes. I am car shopping right now. My list is narrowed down to a 2024 Hyundai Kona N Line, Jeep Renegade, and Chevy Trailblazer. Any opinions on that list? I currently have an old Kia Soul and I love it. I get 39 mpg. It is very open inside. Is the Kona really open inside like the Kia Soul is? Also, is the 2024 Hyundia Neoteric Yellow a "yellow, yellow" or is it a "greenish yellow" in person? Have a Great Week! 🚙🚙 Avon Lady Jane...
I bought the very car you are showing 3 days ago. I love this car. It drives and rides amazingly. The inside is awesome. Has a lot of room in the back seat and upfront. Very happy with it.
This Hyundai Kona Compared with:
- Toyota CHR
- Nissan Kicks
- Honda HRV
- Kia Seltos
- Jaguar I Pace/E Pace
- Subaru Crosstrek
- Ford Puma
- BMW X1
- Audi Q3
- Mercedes GLA
- Volvo XC40
- and more
I really love it! I’ll get it for sure!
Thank you for the show, much appreciated!
Joe keep up the good work and I love the video 👍
Hey Joe 😂 you are special you make my day every time I see your videos. I love your car updates.... keep it up. I like too when you see those old style light Bulbs....
Whoa what an interesting design style. Hardware looks good and nicely executed exhaust tips. The styling is very polarizing (either going to love it or hate it)..
How about stop being such an amateur and invest in some quality production equipment…..no more iPhones/GoPros,etc and get some quality mics (especially for the exhaust sound)!!! It’s shockingly embarrassing that while your fellow autovloggers use stereo mics of high performance you continue to use what sounds like a mono-channel cassette recorder. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ AND PLEASE DO US ALL A FAVOR AND STOP WITH THE CLICK BAITY SOUNDING TITLES AND HAVE THE BALLS TO MAKE A REAL REVIEW INSTEAD OF SUCKING ON THE TITS THAT PROVIDES YOU WITH YOUR RIDES…..is Raiti’s Rides better than the other CZcams autovlogs….stick around to find out (note: there will be no answer at the end as with ALL of his videos).
Got to give it to Hyundai on design and the amount of tech they always include. You get a lot for the money.
Nice video keep up the good work Joe
I love your reviews . Youre my favorite keep up the good work. One question about the facial cam in Europe it comes as a standard (is it possible to remove it? It disturb me ) and I notice you dont have it...
Awesome review I just bought a 2024 Kona N-line and 2 months ago I also got the 2024 Dodge Hornet GT They Both are very nice and sporty lil cars love mine!!
Nicely designed, the color is tasteful, I like the extra length!
Seems like Hyundai played the same card that KIA did with the Niro. They also offer a EV, PHEV, or ICE version as well. Very interesting where they are taking the Kona, and I'm interested to see your other Kona trim reviews soon Joe!
This is the “same” car as the niro
@mattlevine3201 Oh I thought it was the 'same' as the Seltos
@@mattlevine3201 Not really, similar size and same platform but far more tech on here and vastly different design inside and out.
Can’t wait for your sonata n-line review
9:10 i don't think that is a fake vent . it's just a pattern . artistic value. always a fan of your show . kudos !
Joe great review.
Love that Kona! I enjoyed the ride 😊. Almost decided.
Looks great, and a big plus is that Hyundai did not destroy it with black wheels !
Just picked up a cyber grey 2024 Kona Nline ultimate in Canada yesterday! Test drove some different brands but really liked this car.
The limited in green/gray is brilliant
@raiti
I have to ask. How do the seats feel compared to the Ioniq 5?
The seats in my 22 Mazda 3 Hatch have messed up my back, I do alot of long commuting daily (4-5hrs) and developed back problems from the firm seats in my Mazda.
After a long day and a stiff back I can sit in my friends Ioniq 5 and just melt away. The seats are so comfortable compared to mine.
Another awesome review. Do I go N-line or wait for the N ! I do like the new styling !
I plan to test drive one. I am really glad they went with the dash screen rather than the ugly "iPad glued to the dashboard" look.
What the people really want is a Palisade N line lol
We need palisade n with 3.5t from GV80
@@AJSparacio413
Meh, BMW X5M has like 600 hp and drives fine. Palisade gonna have around 360~375hp, so probably safer to handle.
I need N not n line
i have never pictured that before
That would be insane or a Santa Cruz n
I bought the 24 Kona N-Line, drives like a dream. Love the umph is has, the interior room, features and tech and the exterior is a classy body
May I ask you, to your opinion which is the most beautiful color for this car; we are thinking to buy as our family car.
@@nicolepanteli7651 I love the black because I think it looks very classy. But I have heard there is a beautiful shade of blue it comes in also
@@nicolepanteli7651 I bought the two-tone Cyber Grey with the black top. It looks really sharp.
I had the 2018 Kona, great car, but it was slow. But with this N line model having more power and more tech. I might give it another try
I like it but I seen other videos from other countries where there get full LEDs ligths just USA doesn't 🤷♂️ good review Joe like always and hows the AWD 🤔
Is the Limited the same size as the N-Line? I need a power hatch due to shoulder issues. Also, with that digital dash, is there any indication that Hyundai is preparing for the full-dash CarPlay? Lastly, is there a Snow Mode just like the Sport Mode? In Canada I use that a lot with my RAV4.
Waiting for my test drive soon love the red 😊
I hate it when a car doesn't have fog lights! The car is a looker though! I love your reviews u make them fun!
I like this going to see if my local dealer has it
This is a great mini suv. It’s quick and fast and fits my 3 kids in the back fine. The roominess inside really surprises me. Gas mileage is amazing too.
I like the Turbo engine, but I wish they offered a Hybrid option
I owned the Tucson Hybrid Limited, and it was excellent.
They should have a smaller hybrid motor for the Venue and Kona
I hope they do come out with an actual N version. That would be the one I would be interested in. I like it, I think the style and features move it up market from where it was, plus it being bigger are all pluses. I think this will be a big hit for Hyundai.
They would have to engineer overhaul for the added size and weight to create a new Kona N. It's not happening.
The Kona N got cancelled, not sure exactly why they stopped selling it but it was great
@@Emkaiiiwent to the website it seems they are selling only 2 trims
@@asmokingp3005they aren’t the two lower trims SE and SEL aren’t fully configured yet
Europe had a leak for the 2025 Kona N, Their 2.3t and AWD.
Looks much better with the body colored wheel well thingys
Can I just say…. You’re hilarious 😂😂
Thank you Rebecca for letting me share the laughs and the cars with you!
They made the front design from the robocop helmet😅😅😅
Can you review a 2024 Q50 red sport im thinking about buying one but I need Ratti’s opinion on it
Love it I just got mine few days ago 😁
Is the 1,6T a reliable motor ?
Are you related to the Barstool’s guy? You could be brothers. Your funny. I just bought the Kona limited and love it!!
Thanks for letting me share the laughs and the Kona with you!
Oh snap, where were you?? I’m in Downtown Baltimore!! I bet you were in Baltimore County!!!
Love the color and the restyle!!!
I am so glad that you like this one.
Awesome Hyundai Kona NLine I like the fake vents I feel like they are just For Style because who wants to see a boring piece of sheet metal? I love the incandescent bulbs and I love the way It look.
I feel the same way about the "fake vents". It's not meaning to be a vent in order for them to be fake. It's all for aesthetic purposes. A flat piece of plastic or whatever would just look stupid. But he zonks them every time because he thinks people care about it. I think everybody would prefer the better looks of that design feature.
@@jeffs6090 Yes
hello everyone I have just ordered a Kona N-line but unfortunately I am missing the rear spoiler [in Europe it is not equipped with the spoiler] which makes the difference. Do you have the references so I can order it?
Reminded me of the Kia soul when I saw the front.
For the brake lights going across the rear, I think it’s fine on vehicles with a bunch of technology that your everyday vehicle wouldn’t have. I do think it shouldn’t be on your more basic vehicles.
That's a good one, both are awesome.
Joe, I'm wondering if there is any end to how talented the automotive people are getting to be at doing fake vents. You have to applaud their creativity, but do we really deed this🤔. Congratulations to Steve. It's not everyone who has the distinction of winning a clam eating contest.
Is there still a auto start stop button?
Hyundai has come a long way. Pretty impressive for entry level pricing. Somehow they manage to put an aluminium dead pedal and a spare tire which some of the luxury brands can't manage. Quirky head and tail lights but ok. Well the key fob did have the area 19 on the back.
Take this exact spec and add the Kona N engine it would be irresistible to me.
Looks pretty solid! I like it.
Do the seats in the rear recline?
Does the daytime running LED run straight across the front? Can you show us that?
No, only on the limited trim :(
Now my perfect new Hyundai Kona I can buy.
Ohhhh my kona ❤
Okay Hyundai really should've waited until this new gen Kona to make a Kona N, it's so much better inside and out than the old Kona. This would look so damn good in the baby blue color of true N cars.
I watched your coverage at the auto show on the N Line and it looks like they gutted many of the features that were on that vehicle like the vented seats and steering wheel, power lift gate…it also got slower for 2024 compared to the previous version. I still don’t get why companies assume sporty means less creature comforts. Finally, I think the limited has more cladding than actual body paint…that will probably not age well.
The limited gets all of that stuff
Idk old Jeeps seem fine with all the plastic fenders (I assume you meant).
Easy to clean and should last long without road debris damaging the paint on the fenders.
What kind of watch do u have on Joe
Have a 19 civic hatch 6sp.
This has me interested.
Its profile looks exactly like the Tucson, right down to the wheels.
“Elephant Ty beanie baby” 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🥳
I love my kona limited awd with DCT, what sucks is they didn't include paddles!!!!!!!!
No DCT makes this one a much more desirable purchase!
First Hyundai I ever like!
not sure why a lot of companies are doing the huge long screen(s) without a cowl cover. Is it bright enough??
Same as the Niro except bigger. that was very bright and no issues in the sun.
I buy a 24' Hyundai Kona N-line as my daily.
Hey welcome to Baltimore!
One of the best thing is that there's no gloss black in the interior
one of the main things I loathe about the Niro and EV6. that shit is everywhere.
Thanks!
GROUND FLOOR WITH MAGICAL VIEWS
Wait? Kona N confirmed for new gen body? @24:18 AWD? Cooled Seat?
Joe great review. Wow you had a good amount of room in the back seat. My wife looked at a 22 Kona and opted for the Tucson instead as the Kona back seat was too small.
*the previous model was wack* THIS is actually pretty damn nice, especially the •Limited trim•
I just worry with all electric cluster like that if it goes out you’re kinda screwed no CarPlay !? Big zonk. Other than it’s nice looking . No CarPlay as in wireless or in general?
Big zonk for me.. I've been using android auto for 6 years on 4 different cars including my current base model elantra with its wireless version.. can't imagine not having it on a 2024 model year car.
Love the design ❤❤❤
Really is a shame that the Kona N won’t be coming back with this design. I would’ve pre ordered it so quick.
with the enlargened size and added weight they would have to overhaul the engineering of the vehicle. It would also not be nearly as fun to drive like the current Kona N does so it wouldn't be worth it.
@@OutLivex I mean still worth a shot, they made a Ioniq 5 n and it’s a much larger vehicle, yeah sure it’s all electric, but the main reason there wasn’t a Kona N 2024, was because it didn’t sell as well as they wanted it, main complaints was the dated interior and small size, I would think a 2024 Kona N would’ve done a bit better.
@@TheGamingDead14 Main complaint being size and interior is not even accurate. People who want performance vehicles don't want anything bigger then the current Kona. And of all the N cars that were released, the Kona and Elantra are arguably neck and neck and much better then the Veloster was. It was partially the absence of AWD that made it hard to sell. Especially when the regular Kona's main attraction is AWD. But having to engineer a new AWD didn't make sense. The IONIQ 5 is different dispite the size and weight because it is an EV and can easily output that type of power and the AWD system didn't need much more to configure.
@@OutLivex well size and interior was definitely a complaint for many, to completely disregard that would be ignorant, but yes to those drivers who like performance don't really care for those things. I found the Kona interior dated already at least when it's compared to the Elantra N. I own a Elantra N, they're both neck & neck, I really wanted a sub compact suv and still have fun, but the Kona was too small while the EN has more leg and trunk space, and tbh most people consider it a hot hatch more than its sub compact suv name.
Great review but the rear light cluster especially the turn signals are way too low down. A serious visibility safety issue for me so I'll pass. Wait until a few buyers get hit in the rear & then the design defect will be obvious.
I love the new futuristic look
LED headlights but standard bulbs for turn signals?!
higher trims get LED's everywhere, but year. that looks awful... for this price you should get LED's turn signals even on the base model.
I can’t wait for the Sonata!
Hi Raiti, one thing to consider why it may have the good old Thomas Edison bulbs is maybe due to supply chain issues with semiconductor chips. Those bulbs can be operated with traditional relays. The LED requires power driver chips that are in shortage for a long time. Ofcourse cost may be a motivation but I really think it may be otherwise. Hope they come out with the N version in the future !
Do we know if they've implemented the wireless carplay yet?
I have the limited and yes
Yep. Wife has a red N-line
Did u know guys if this new gen of the kona will be get the N version?
Why were you happy to see the dual clutch transmission eliminated? I have a 2019 Kona and bought it solely because if the DCT. Every other car in this class has tons of lag between pedal input and reaction from stopped or low speeds .. now the new Kona joins that club :(
I agree with him on the transmission I had a 2020 Kona limited and that was the only downside. It had a jerk in between 1st and 2nd
So happy I chose this over the hrv
Anyone know if a Kona N is coming for this new design with 300 hp or do I just wait for the new Golf R
Nice car but I'd still get the Mazda Cx-30.
Here in my hometown that's what's up
I prefer the styling from the previous generation
Yes. I have a 22 and I agree. They should have just enlarged that one.
