The Japanese erasers aren't actually meant to be used as dice, each side of the eraser is a different thickness and the numbers correspond to that, so you use them when you want to erase a line of a specific width. There's no harm to using them as dice though I suppose :)

To roll he dice, the player would push the ball down until a tiny suction cup on the bottom stuck to the feet. There was some kind of spring mechanism inside that caused the suction cup to pull away after about one second. The thing would pop up, flip over in the air and land on its feet. When it came to rest, you could read the dice. Our parents made us use it to play board games because we often tended to throw too hard resulting in dice rolling off the table and getting lost. I don't know what happened to the little thing. It's either packed away in a box in a closet or got sold at a yard sale.
