PEOPLE: CORY YOUR SHIT SOUNDS LIKE TV SHOW MUSIC
CORY WONG: **creates TV show**
100%
I'm just sad none of this was filmed on the Love Boat.
Cory is truly the best! The BEST to work with and soooo gifted!!!
The seal of the court of California having an all seeing eye and pyramid included is a nice easter egg lol
i was lucky enough to get to work on this episode as an actor and i can say that Cory Wong is the real deal. kind, focused, friendly, and killer JUDGE. :) congrats on the ep/series/album - thanks for the inspiration (and the gig), Cory!!!
hope you get those cuffs off soon!
@@gcavy1 na fam he deserves those cuffs
17 choruses are a lot man... Just, why? WHY?
can you tell something about that lefty bass player(one episode he play guitar too), he like play guitar and bass upside down since ep1,really badassbassist player! im not really a guitar or bass player, but he looks no matter you give him right hand guitar , even put E strings in middle or something, he just can play it , thats truly a real guitar or bass player, he play guitar ,not guitar play him . sorry for my poor english.
@@bukwok Your English is good, great work! The largest problem I can see with your writing is in the tense of the adjectives. For instance I would totally agree that "He plays guitar, the guitar doesn't play him", is an brilliant point you made. What a tricky language. Good luck!
John Lampley said the most important thing: the best version of what I'm gonna play is me
ALWAYS
Also another guy said something like that in a song, I bet his name was Cory Wong
I've started looking forward to these the way people used to look forward to the next GoT episode
let's just hope the finale get's better reviews.
@@CoryWongMusic if you're ending on that Stevie Medley, I think we'll be alright!
@@CoryWongMusic You could end the finale with a solo over 17 choruses of how high the moon and it would still get better reviews lol.
“17 choruses on a ballad!” 😂
This man is gonna land a 15 million dollar deal on Netflix and I´m going to be pretty damn happy about it. =D
plz be my agent
@@CoryWongMusic the legend...
To heck with Netflix! We need Wongflix, independent is the only way to go!
Who else wants Cory to do 17 choruses on Misty?!
REQUEST DENIED
WONG
Cory Wong is a movement.
and also with you
anyone else say "ON THE ONE" when Cory does now?
No, but I do say, "Ohh ho ho!!!" on the one with him.
Yes
I'm a lawyer and a huge Cory Wong fan. The opening minute was the greatest thing I've ever seen.
isnt there this guy on youtube? legal eagle? maybe he should analyze that piece :D
love the mercy mercy mercy vibes im getting from headin' down to bunkers. definitely got that soul
That’s what it was!! You just saved me 20 minutes of humming and googling
How does Cory do all of this??? I mean he’s got to have some killer work ethic🔥🔥🔥
I guess they record all the ‘live’ stuff in one day (all the guests etc). Then you can shoot the skits whenever suits. Great organisation and tunes!
Oh yeah that makes sense why they would do that. But boy what a day that’s got to be 😂
Also a team of people would surely help
Did it all in 4 days! He came to our uni and someone asked him that question : How df do you get so much done haha. (Plus he got kids too). Great guy!
I've tried my best to learn Jazz over the past couple of years, and I once told my friend I wanted to sound like Chick Corea (rest in peace). My friend roasted me, and said "that's not jazz, when people think jazz they think Bebop or swing. You need to play more like Bud Powell or Bill Evans." I've always struggled with what others expect versus what I want to play, and John Lampley's words really resonated with me.
Some people also need to understand that not everybody gets to be the next Bill Evans. I mean occasionally you’ll meet someone committed and sweaty enough to put in the work and get the results, but goddamn. Some people just don’t feel they have to, or they can’t get to that point without destroying themselves. And that’s ok.
You can’t restrict jazz to just bebop and swing
Fusion will always be jazz
Jazz ballads are valid
Gospel is valid
Blues is valid
Bossa is valid
Well for what it’s worth, Chick Corea did write a song called, “Bud Powell”.
@@CouchEconomyTX salsa is valid, cuban music in general is valid. I mean, I guess its nice to learn your bebop as we learn our blues but I think its very important to play what we enjoy playing.
For real, I can't believe that Netflix or Apple haven't jumped all over this and made some new full length episodes.
Jon Lampley doesn't strike me as an "I told you so" kind of guy, but how many other cats in those NYC jam sessions are on this show?! Right?! They're wrong and he's WONG!
We need to get joe dart in the show
This is truth
yeah with his one knob bass 😄😄
I'd like to see Joe and Sonny T do a bass double feature.
@@patarrajagukguk4094 what does it control🤔
@@CouchEconomyTX not for sure, but i think the tone is already set up, and the knob just control the volume.
Cory is quickly becoming one of my favorite guitarists.
yeaa i always love his energy
We’ll catch up then!
i love sonny just doin his thing watching everyone else
Few months ago, I would never guess my favorite show would be a Cory Wong youtube video series, but here we are
I love how each musician’s instrument is on their side of the interview
I'm only halfway through this episode but like this is why I love Cory...
the dude knows when to play and knows when to be serious, yet through it all the advice is fantastic
Judge Wong is the best skit so far, how is this this so funny?? Should be illegal.
I loved every second of this episode. Probably the strongest one overall so far next to Antwuans episode.
Been learning the guitar solo on Headin' Down to Bunkers' and surprisingly the bending timings and attack that he does has been the toughest part to replicate. Some wacky rhythms in there.
Could this be the best series right now on #CZcams ??????🤔 HELL YEAHERRRR!!!!!!!
Saw Jon playing with Allen Stone. What a killer player and performer! Love that he's killing it!
We can't even ague about horn sections - T O P is STILL the benchmark, PERIOD! - but them Wongnote Horns are knocking at the door!!! Love 'em more and more!!
I swear every time that pick falls, it just disappear, doesn't matter if there's nothing next to me, that thing just vanishes.
Judge Wong deserves MILLION VIEWS!!! 👊😎
The Gospel according to Jon....lampley 💡 definitely learned something. Tgis show is hilarious
I love Cory Wong and Vulfpeck
This deserves 10m views. Wake up people
Underrated corner of the internet
After playing funk guitar for years I can't believe the way things are at the moment with Corey killing it as the front man of a band with his own variety show. You deserve a medal and a late show!
This after 3 days in the wood without any instruments. This is priceless superb formidable PERFECT !!! THANK YOU !!!
This episode and the song was fantastic... and it was also everything I wanted from the Rhythm episode - the chat between Cory and Nêgah Santos followed by Nêgah getting some solid time in the spotlight during the song. I just KNOW her percussion solo would have been sick. Apart from that, this series has been brilliant!
Its also possible negah doesnt want the spotlight and maybe prefers to hang back and just do her thing
@@CyBOXbeatbox Very true! Still would have loved to see it though, she's incredibly talented
More joy per minute than a box full of singing hound-dog pups!
A tour with this whole group and stage would be probably expensive but amazing!!
It's cool how much of what Jon was saying echoes what Cody Fry said in a previous episode about the value of getting in a room with other musicians and having everyone be heard.
"liability of a #11 over a major triad..." that's a paddlin'
I appreciate Jon Lampley's willingness to hang out in the lower register of the trumpet. His solo was so melodic and soulful, plus the dynamic contrast! It's awesome to hear such fantastic playing at a soft volume. Thank you!
I hope you end up having some big guitarists like Tim Henson, tosin abasi, and Yvette young. It’d be interesting to see what they have to say and how they manage to merge their style with yours
Love the "Mercy Mercy Mercy" tip
This show has been a good start for my weekend for quite a while now
#11 over major triad... I'm with you Wongnote.
Pretty sure the word you're looking for in this episode is "authenticity"
Headin Down The Bunkers giving me Boogie on a Reggae Woman vibes. Loved it 🤩
This deserves to be a tv show, so much fun
Those judge glasses were on point!!!
Thank you, Jon Lampley. And thank you, Cory Wong.
Best thing on CZcams. And the commercials have happened at convenient moments the last 2 weeks! Is that a setting!?
These episodes Cory comes up with are so brilliant - on every level: the concept, the content, the writing, the acting, the production quality and of course the music. And I genuinely learn something each time because his band members are exceptional musicians who have such range and depth as well as brilliant stories to share about their musical upbringing and journey. Gotta love it.
Cory! Fellow Minneapolis musician, here. (Hi Guys!). Cory, et all, your work on this variety show is LIFE right now! The metaphors to life... the absolute honesty and joy and issues of being a musician....its all here wrapped up in kindness and humor and extraordinary talent! I'm a musician who always struggled to find my space for all the reasons you talk about in this episode. But we find it, nonetheless! Keep going, Cory. You are amazing!
Love this. The world doesn't begin and end at Bar 55. When you hear Jon play, you hear someone play who loves music, and it loves back. What you watch Jon play, he's channeling joy and enthusiasm, and he always lifts the audience with him.
The gentlest of mic drops
SO FUNNY ! I LOVE !!!!
I’m a Japanese viewer and a fan of you. I also cover your guitar play!! I love your killer clean sound. I was looking forward to your arrival at Fuji Rock. Continue to support and continue to study your play. Please come to Japan!
Those intros are killing me each time!
What about longer interviews?
Man I didnt know anything about you since Fender release your Custom. But your interpretation is very shinny and joyful. Glad to discover you.
For me as a lawyer and guitar player the judge scene really killed it :)
Serious "Livin for the City" vibes on that last tune. Killin!
It's the exact same riff
I LOVVEZZZ ITT BIGG TIMME
I'm waiting for new episodes of Cory Wong and Wongnotes as much as am I am waiting for new episodes of WandaVision. Love the album!
As a trumpet player from northern Ohio, John is my new idol.
Great to hear Jon shine both in chat, and horn. Killin it guys.
Omg I love this guy! Give him a show ... please!!!!
the set and costume design is just so pleasing to look at
Cory, those skits are amaizing! Just the right mix of dry humor and 80s tv show
This stuff is so well done, should be better known. Great musicianship and so much joy!
Very impressive stuff from the production to the music. 🎵🎶
Hahaha somehow you managed to take the second judge wong skit to the next level . came for the skits, stayed for the music!
maybe the best groove of the whole show, thanks guys!
YES! Soooo divisive and trivial
That couch thing is hilarious!
the hype is real
talked to jon a few years ago, what a cool dude
You cut a deep groove and I fell right in!
Dear Cory and the Wongnotes keep the mojo flown.
Great episode! What I got out of this is as a musician and someone still learning how to improv on the flute, you can be your own worst judge, as well as judging others WRONGLY. Always be yourself and play what you feel in that moment, don’t let someone tell you that you’re WRONG. If you’re not what they’re looking for in their band, time to pack up and join Cory and the WONG notes. I’d rather play the WONG notes than the WRONG notes 😂.
I knew this was coming out today, was looking forward too it during all of my work day!
A little bit of "Just enough for the city... Stevie Wonder. Cool dude!!
Always fantastic !
loving these
These get better and better every week! Loved the long format of this one!
Damn, the full Cory and the Wongnotes album is going to go so hard. Kinda unfair of him to drop this high quality content, like give the other artists a chance Cory!
is the full album not out?
@@hadengold it is out.
@@kjdude8765 i know, im asking if the other dude thinks its not
One of my favs so far! This and the first one 😍
Best interview so far! And amazing jam! Love this series!
Every new episode I get excited like a kid on Christmas morning... and Santa Cory always over delivers!
I just love this format. Cory you are a genius. That's an amazing, rich and refined production. Like your playing. Thanks!
Genius, just genius. This is the most entertaining and refreshing show I've seen and heard in too long. Thank you!
Best episode of the Wongnotes yet. Great music, great interview.
Sounds pretty poetic if you ask me...
Hahahah I love you Cory!
Awesome Jon and Cory! Dynamite vibe and groove! Godspeed to you both!
My new favorite show.
Best episode so far. Great stuff!
So awesome
Amazing show! I love it!
Best interview yet! Keep 'em coming!
I love this
HOW DOES THIS STILL GET BETTER WITH EVERY EPISODE
Love this show
