Putting Sonny and Petar together is like the two class clowns grouped for a project
The best
But the clowns kick ass lol
The whole rhythm sect.
i'm not playing favorites, but i personally think the Jon and Kevin song will develop into a banger of a tune
Do it!!!! +1 for Jon&Kevin!
Please pull a Vulf and remake your own tune with Kevin and Jon's idea!
Yes yes yes!!! 😍
Put it on Wong Notes album 3!!
Same here
1 vote for Lampley and Kevin. Speak up!
Heyyyyyyyy
OMG!!!!!
The winner is Cory, for having such a monster band! For real though, I think I gotta say Sam and Jay. It just had so much energy, and the countermelodies were insane!
Table o' Contents:
Kevin and Jon: 17:50 - 18:56
Negah and Kenni: 19:10 - 20:22
Petar and Sonny: 21:37 - 22:54
Eddi and Michael: 23:48 - 24:37
Sam and Jay: 24:56 - 25:57
Why you're not pinned is a mystery
You sir deserve a medal
Thankyou
Already voted in another message, but I gotta add, WE NEED MORE NEGAH SINGING IN OUR LIVES! Make it happen, Cory!
Agreed! She’s got the vocal chops for sure!
Yes! It was too smooth!!!!
Sam and Jay...you can't beat a plunger and that bari line...DAMN!
1. Sam & Jay
2. Kevin & Jon
3. Negah & Kenni
4. Eddie & Michael
5. Petar & Sonny
Every did great work though, was very fun to watch. Would love to see more like this in the future!
Negah and Kenni had a great feel was not expecting Negah's beautiful voice in there!
My vote has to go to Kevin and Jon. They thoroughly synthesized and transformed the source tune, reacted to the competition (a little vocal), incorporated Cory's feedback, and nailed the execution with chops and musicality. Killed in on all dimensions!
Cory is such a natural bandleader, I love to see these bits of the in between and the PROCESS and see Cory working with the band.
Also I can't get enough of Jon Lampley going "know what i'm sayin" after playing a tasty lick. lmao
I liked them all. My top 3:
1. Sam and Jay
2. Negah and Kenni
3. Kevin and Jon
Kenni's sax percussion with Negah was very cool sounding.
i think we all want the full versions of all them, but sam and jay is the one i'm voting for. i hate to admit it, but the plunger really sold it for me.
Wow great video. My vote is for Sam and Jay but all the sax section is 🔥🔥🔥
That bass sax and trumpet groove just hits ! I wanna hear a full peice bassed on this! Sam And Jay That's sick!!!
I will never be this talented but I love seeing all this professionals working through the process. One of my favorite episodes.
Sam and Jay, that Bari line was fire. Close second Kevin and Jon.
This.
Seconded . But I’m real sad to abandon Negah’s vocal
Amen to that!!!!
My thoughts exactly.
Honestly all really good but I had to pause and laugh for a good 20 seconds after the "ice cold trinklies" line and the definition came up on screen, so Sonny and Petar have my vote
Negah & Kenni! Negah using body percussion (claps & stomps) instead of another instrument in her set up for the verses was perfect. And the vocals! The montuno section at the end was a great push to the finale, complete with signature high note. Superb!
Eddie Barbash and Michael Nelson hits my ear right in the sweet spot. Reminds me of Albert Menglesdorf - Ant Steps On An Elephant's Toe from Triologue performance. But everyone one of these bands had me smiling and grooving thanks everyone for writing all these great tunes!
Also Negah Santos and Kenni Holman should flesh theirs out that tongue percussive intro is so lip curlingly funky
My vote goes to Sam and Jay because it's beautiful and groovy and surprising but Kevin and Jon wrote a wicked tune. Best show on the planet.
Also, props once again to effects and editing- the plunger warning, the toilet popping up on the plunger drop, and ESPECIALLY whoever decided to add the hard slap sound effect to not only the Philly Special at 1:08, the Sonny slap at 9:36, and the three from 18:58-19:04 but ALSO the fist bump at 20:35 is a legend in my book.
I vote for Sam & Jay. There's something really catchy about that bari groove. Everyone did a phenomenal job!
I'm not sure it's exactly a fair fight given the chordal, rhythmic, and vocal opportunities that some teams had over the others... but that said, I think from a sheer creativity standpoint Sam and Jay KILLED it, with Kevin G and Lampley jus a hair behind them. Though I dunno; "ice cold trinklies" might take the day... no, I'm calling it for Sam and Jay.
As a fellow bass player and drummer, I gotta show love for SONNY AND PETAR. I think Father Ulrich would agree.
All great, but my gut and my vote goes to Nêgah and Kenni. Here's why: They played to a perfect combination of their own strengths and to each other's strengths. It was a fantastic interpretation of the rules laid before them. I would love to hear what the whole band could layer on to what they laid down and I could listen to just the two of them! All were dope though. Lastly, this is internet and marketing genius! All with brilliant musicianship and great vibes. Well done!
I vote for Sam & Jay, but literally all of these miniatures are spectacular!
Wow! Make this a recurring segment! ;)
I don't comment often but this was genuinely one of the best videos I have ever watched on CZcams! Kudos to Cory and the team
My vote is for the "Plunger Warning" band Jay+Sammy, I´d love to hear their song with the entire band.
The Jon and Kevin tune brought me nostalgia for a decade I wasn't even alive for. Would love to hear this flushed out.
Sam and Jay close second!
Sam and Jay smashed it! Keeping the groove going on the sax like that is where it's at.
Sam and Jay 1st yup yup yup, but Jon & Kevin second and my goodness they were all so killer!
Sam and Jay are the clear winners people. That trumpet is fire!
Every time I see Negah Santos playing it fills me with joy, and now she's vocalising! Kenni is a slap tongue monster. They get my vote.
Lamplay and Kevin G on second for me.
My vote is for Kevin and Jon (that needs to be a song Cory!) but damn Sam and Jay were grooving! This was so much fun to watch, thank you for all you do Cory :)
First off the winner is this video which is easily the best to date. Depending on your criteria I would say Sam and Jay won the "Battle of the Bands" but my guy MBN and Eddie did the best writing so I toss it up between those two personally, but there are no wrong votes as all were great :)
It's Kevin & Jon for me. Their tune is such a vibe! So musical! I hope you guys turn it into a single. Had a good laugh at Sonny & Petar's bit haha! 😂
I cannot imagine how fun it must be to be in this band.
i don’t think what they take into account is how sophisticated sam and jays groove is. good job
Sam Greenfield & Jay Webb - it has to be!!
Sonny and Petar got my vote but great performance all around.
Jon and Kevin, purely because I want to hear a full version. So dope.
This is THE number one weekly series. I love you guys all so much, everyone killed it but I Gotta vote for Sam and Jay. The long awaited Philly special has changed my life forever.
Sam and Jay killed it! The tempo, the groove, the plunger…so good.
Philly special would be a close second, but I NEED a full version of whatever Kevin and Jon were cooking! My vote goes to Lampley and Gastonguay!
I could copy this comment word for word as my answer. I completely agree!
yup! kevin and jon were my fav
This is such a dope idea haha! Battle of bands within the band!
They were all dope, but I’m giving it to John and Kevin!
Sam and Jay - they just wowed me 🎺🎷😊🎶
My vote is for Sam+Jay, the Philly Special. The groove plus the compositional elements did it for me. Several contrasts between the sections, yet it still felt like a single piece. And they nailed the one interesting chord!
Megan and Kenni also were outstanding. All the musicians were brilliant really. Also very thoughtful ideas from Cory at the break. What a super group.
My vote has got to go to Sam & Jay for being just soooo funky, but Kevin & Jon get a close second.
Everyone did a great job, so nice to see vocals from Jon and Negah as well! Bari overtones are always hype also.
That being said I gotta vote for Petar and Sonny T, friggin legends literally gave us a wong/prince fusion jam. A new genre I didn't think I needed until now.
My vote is Sam and Jay Webb. Honerable mention, Petar and Sonny, just being funny. LOL
U all win! Thanks Leonard
Sam and Jay for me, but my ribs will hurt for the next week after watching Petar and Sonny. Absolute gold!
Philly special - Sam and Jay. I really enjoyed everyone’s though, so it was a tough choice. My personal preference in funky stuff matched most closely with what those guys put down.
I’d love to see it again, with the pairs taking turns writing for the whole band!
It was hard! I loved all of them. For me, it came down to either Sam and Jay or Kevin and Jon for just nailing the competitive exercise on all points. I had to watch those two performances a couple of more times to make a choice. So good!
Didnt know Sonny could sing that well! The two have my vote!
Omg this was so much fun!!! I'm a teacher so it definitely reminded me of guiding my students on group projects. Such great outcomes, every pair was amazing. I cannot choose. Love y'all!
Sam and Jay with that overtone was lit
Eddy & Michael are having my vote! RESPECT FOR ALL! What a love and happiness!
I vote for Sam and and Jay. Loved Jon and Kevins song too - but they didn't have a plunger or a barisax (biggest horn wins/size matters).
Comment for the algorithm. Love your stuff Cory & Crew! Bummed out I can't make it to your show this summer, hope you come back to Canada soon!
I think I gotta go for Sam and Jay. but Negah/Kenni and Kev/Jon are a CLOOOSE close second.
i'm ashamed of everyone not voting for Sonny T and Petar! the Trinklie Jinglie will be a top hit singlie!
The bridge sealed the deal for me. Kevin and Jon, I gotta hear an extended cut.
Sam Greenfield and Jay Webb! He's got the trumpet sounding like a beatbox...
The Philly special of Sam and Jay nailed it…
Sonny and Petar of course!!!
Negah and Kenni all the way for me! They had the toughest combo and they killed it. Everyone did!
Sam and Jay....amazing Bari line and the plunger
Kevin and Lampley, that was awesome. Some songwriting genius! I vote for you guys, but all the others were also dope as hell! Awesome episode!!
All incredible, great stuff from every supergroup, but my vote's going to Sam and Jay for that deep sax and plunger ACTION!!
Such a tough choice since all of them are brilliant in their own ways.
My vote goes to Negâh and Kenni, the slap tongue + percussions combo is such a surprisingly amazing vibe!
It's insane how talented everyone is! My vote goes to Kevin and Jon but they all killed it 🔥🔥
Voting for Sam and Jay! funky bass and interesting progression and melody. me like
I gotta vote for Kevin and Jon. Seemed like the most unique song while staying in the grove.
Tough choice, I vote for Sam and Jay, love the Baritone groove
This is fantastic - This is getting your best out of your crew. Fun and exciting.
Sam and Jay.
Special shoutout to Sonny and Petar, that was pretty dope
My vote is for Sam and Jay, even though Sunny T expanded my vocabulary. Everyone is sooo flippin fantastic and talented!
You all are incredible musicians and this is proof.
My vote is for the Philly Special.
I can't stop coming back to this video. It's such a well of happiness and inspiration
Voting for Sam and Jay! That plunger action is what's going on
So tough! I gotta go with Nêgah and Kenni, with Jon and Kevin a close second! But all around delightful from everybody -- could easily listen to a full song from all five bands :)
Edit: Jon absolutely losing his mind at "ice cold trinklies" is a serious highlight of this video
Tough vote but I’m giving it to the Philly Connection
It was so cool seeing all these awesome musicians working together
Sam and Jay! That was damn fun to watch
Wow, that's hard to decide! I'm gonna go with Nêgah and Kenni! Kevin + Jon's was also sick. They were all sick in their own way🔥🔥
It's actually really hard to decide! Give my vote to Negah and Kenni
Awesome video, so much fun all around. Crazy talent from all, my vote is Kevin and John. Their song could be expanded and put on your next record!
So. Many. Ads. However, watching the musicianship in this video is mind blowing. Sam and Jay for me though, felt more like a “song” if you will and of course playing is fire.
So awesome to hear every member's individual musicality come out! Voting for Sam and Jay, because they made such a great groove and texture without any rhythm instruments, although jon and Kevin are a close second!
We get some real good clips of Cory's laugh in this one, he laughs just like Woody from Toy Story 😂😂
That being said... Really tough between the originality of Jon and Kevin and the pure vigor of Sam and Jay. Gotta go with the latter just because of the energy and the structure of the song.
Sam and Jay for the win!
I have to vote for Sam and Jay, that plunger was ON FIRE
You already know im voting on the plunger! Sam and Jay Killed it!
That's tough to choose a favorite. Perhaps Sam and Jay, because of the super funky and catchy groove.
I think my vote has to go to Sam and Jay because although having both a non poliphonic instrument they successfully created wonderful harmonies by a great interaction between the two of them.
An honorable mention has to go also to Kenni and Negah for taking out the 110% from every instrument was in their hands (including voice) .
What a blast!! We need full songs! Sonny & Petar got the music and vibe just right for me
Sam and Jay. (Kevin and Jon was super-close second) and props to everyone!
Fantastic video - Kevin and Jon nailed the assignment!
Sonny and Petar was a banger!
Leadoff hitters came on strong, but my vote goes to my hometown players Philly Special - Jay Webb & Sammy G.
Negah and Kenni for me. Light and fun, but so CRISP. Dope episode, loved this so much.
I do love Kenni and Nêgah, but my vote is for Sam and Jay hands down for their lovely adherence to a song form-if the goal was avant garde interpretation of the tune then the former pair would have it in the bag. Great vid!
