Avanti high speed passes (opening video by RC Roland) were flown by Mike Monger.
If you find anything was unclear, confusing, or wrong, please let me know in the comments below. Thanks for watching!

    Another great lesson Greg!

This is excellent info. I learned the expensive way that certain airframes get to a point where more motor just equates to higher amp draw and very little speed. Now I see why

Thanks! You're not alone. We've all done it. The info is out there, but not always readily available, especially within the hobby. That's one reason I started this project, to gather everything I could find about landing a jet and put it in one place. I think EDF manufacturers could help out by providing more info on thrust available vs. airspeed.

Greg, nice video, your 4-part tutorial is the best I’ve seen so far on landing plane and edf. Just maidened my Avanti this morning, it flew and landed great. Thanks a lot, keep making videos.

I don't know the formulas or terminology but I do know my Avanti is tied for my favorite jet. I have no problems landing it and do all the aerobatics I want with it.

hello there RC NFO... i'M AN rc PILOT.... Funny text anyway… Though I really can't use any of this knowledge but I love it it's fascinating… I've been flying RC all my life trust me I know all about drag lift ground effect etc. but I just learned through experience and it's great fun… You can also exploit these things they can be your friend. Great video just wanted to say thank you big thumbs up from me

Thanks for stopping by and for the comment! Experience is a great teacher, but for some, like me, that can mean expensive mistakes. This series is aimed at new EDF pilots who completed basic flight training and are ready to move on to jets. Glad you found it interesting!

I have the same Avanti but upgraded/modified with 130A Avian 130 Amp ESC, and 12-blade 2150Kv leaf blower. Also, you Wing Cube Loading ~ 21 seems a little steep?

You should get much better performance than mine, especially if you use lighter packs. My WCL is 21 due to heavy 6200 mAh packs, backup battery and telemetry on board.

I’d like to see this explained just a bit easier I’m not particularly interested in all the intricacies and technical knowledge. I just want tips in more “English” on better landing practices. I think I already do a lot of good things things on landings without knowing any of this. Maybe I’m on the wrong video.

Sorry it wasn't clear. This video, Part 3 of 6, was an attempt to provide an explanation why jets behave the way they do when slow. It is more theory and physics than practical advice. For that you can skip ahead to the end of Part 6, where I provide a list of tips for landing:

While you give us ton's of info you missed the point most take a model and redesign it for more speed? adding more power more battery's and more weight. weight is the main problem As built by the designer most models fly fairly well adding more weight changes the models stall speed and landing speed. while a model properly set up for slow flight will help in approach and landing extra weight must make the model approach and land faster.
the proper way is keep everything in balance or design your own model. I have 2 modified 6s jets that fly just as fast and get 6-8 min's flying time and are lighter and land a much slower speed this was achieved by lighting the models weight and using 5s and lighter battery's. One reason is our field is on a hill with a very narrow and short runway every landing is like a carrier landing. so weight and speed were very Important. the lower weight
made flying jets at our club possible. with the advantage of nicer flying model and extended flight time .

Lighter definitely helps when landing, especially on a short runway! Thanks for the comment. Nice airfield there.
