I've got basically this same video coming out really soon!
Except I'm awful at this challenge and somehow ended up with a bunch of banjos instead.
Rob Scallon you are amazing. I love you.
Oh no
I like cheese.
Very impressive. But I have a similar problem with comments that belongs to other youtubers.
Rob Scallon wait are you involving gojira in new content? I’m excited
The way you played the stranded riff hurt me a bit
Toby Astill same
same
same
Same
Silvera riff as well. That should have been tapped.
I dont think that's exactly how they play silvera and stranded, but really nice setup guys
Chaotic Neutral yeah, not sure. As always the parts are worked out out by ear. Not always right but I try to get as close as I can
Rabea Massaad I respect you for bothering to answer, you did a great job for the purpose of the video. Gojira likes a bit of tapping I believe, for example on silvera that one part you guys played is tapped. :)
EDIT: I mean the part at 16:44
i mean thats a gear limitation they had cause without busting the bank so
Yea for stranded he has the pedal going up 2 octaves, and plays it near the nut
Rabea Massaad Silvera is played on the E string. Fret 12 and tap 19, 17, 19, 20, 19, 20, 22, 20, 19, 20, 19, 16 to the rythem. High part is just an octave higher. (Sorry just made my OCD go crazy while watching because this is one of my favorite riffs to play lmao)
What I like about Gojira is that they take extreme metal techniques (tremelo picking, double bass kicking, etc.) and make it melodic, while throwing in some rhythmic groove metal.
Also inverted power chords
Sound like Opeth with and without busting the bank!!!! That would be pretty cool
Funny i just posted sound like Opeth and thought i wonder if anyone else said it...and i got 5 lines down and walla.
THIS.
I want Opeth a lot, but mostly I'm curious how they'll screw it up. Those clean tones are so hard to nail (hint: Cut a lot of mids and boost 2k).
ReyQ I have requested the same. Love that band
Jacob K Guitar The tones on Damnation also have a fair bit of compression on them and just have a kind of poky quality about them that is hard to nail.
There is another way to sound like Gojira now! Neural DSP PlugIn for 129$
They made this video 3 years ago.
@@simonfinch9277 do you know what "now" means?
i don't own compooters :(
i have a guitar, amp cables, what else do i need for it, i have a computer too but idk if i wanna speed 100 on something idk if it will even work
@@calyxl43 you need a sound card interface as well and a pair of speakers or headphones.
DON'T MURDER THESE RIFFS COME ON GUYS TAPPING ISN'T THAT EXTRA
Yes. It is.
Not only did he not tap it he also played it on the wrong string. This is played on The D string the thickest string, Since Gojira drop tunes to standard D.
@@Robher85 the tapping part of Silvera? No its not. Its played on the third thickest string (D string tuned down to a C).
@@Mattormus joe plays it on the D string and Christian plays it on the C string that ur talking about.
All the riffs were played wrong
Sound like Opeth!
i was just waiting for somebody to play Esoteric Surgery......
ser_Moist
That song isn’t too bad once you develop monster tremolo picking speeds.
There are better songs on that album imo
Andrew Teller I mean the album is just exelent
Reactionaries Commies and Fascist Beware well definitely, I just see a lot of people always request that song. Maybe I haven't heard it enough, idk :p I like it, just not in love with it
Nick Yelovich It's not the speed that's difficult to master, it's the weird-ass rhythmic pattern.
Sounded quite muddy for Gojira... But it would be hard to do it right on a budget not allowing you to get a real 5150
Peavey 6505 MH or evh 5150 15 watt though
From Mars to Sirius is pretty raw and muddy. The Way of All Flesh is also not incredibly tight in tone and production.
@@flagmuffin1221 I wouldn't say From Mars to Sirius was muddy, but definitely raw. What do you mean by TWoAF not being tight in tone and production? Do you think of any specific intrument or song? Just asking out of interest.
@@Kartagoooo TWoAF is a step up in production compared to From Mars to Sirius, but it's still got a rawness to it.
When I think "tight production", I think Periphery 3/Juggernaut, because the mix and everything is put together in such a pristine way. Magma went more this way as well - the guitar tones in particular sound much tighter compared to previously.
Just get a Revv G3 pedal and you're golden 😁
4:40 a new challenger watches from a distance
Some suggestions:
In Flames
Meshuggah (to test your 8-string)
Anthrax
Slayer
Avenged Sevenfold
Exodus
Megadeth
Korn
Lamb of God
Rammstein
Opeth
Trivium
And of course.....Nickleback!
Why nickelback they blow
Bret Thomas I was joking 😔
Sounds like Meshuggah would be super interesting since they've used so much different gear and their tone from album to album is always a little different
Would love to see if Bea and Matt could put together a rig that gets that snarly, metallic sound on Nothing right
Bret Thomas woooosh
DavidH Nickelback.. why not? Whatever they're playing, there tone is pretty massive and "articulate" .
Do Sound Like Periphery!
Jacob Shoop thats too easy tho. They really have a “signature” or even difficult tome to replicate.
i have a Precision Drive, its fine, you just can't get it to sound clean, it always distorts (at least with my Katana). if you want more bass, add some gain, which will also give some hiss, but whatever
They use tons of gear, get some good delay, an amp with reverb, an overdrive to tighten things up. Both mark and misha have affordable sigs, jake not too afffordable but still a cool shout. its cool though because they have some really complex riffs that will be pretty hard to replicate but I think something like that in the future would be awesome. Tight passive pickups, dimarzio BKP(or stock jackson replicas) and Seymour Duncan. And a good combo which can deal with incredible cleans and high gain that is not fizzy.
i have one, it reacts much MUCH better with a quality tube amp than any sort of sims and such, through a tc 50 it does exactly what it should, through BIAS FX it's meh, and i would also say through meh amps it's meh. it's 100% not for adding bass Like whatever this lorenzo guy is saying, it';s there to tame the low end in high gain sound, effectively removing a lil bass
MegaCrasherMusic It's awesome man. Easiest way to get that tight djenty tone in all honesty.
I actually REALLY REALLY love you guyz.
And that's why it hurts to tell that I (it's just my opinion), that you didn't nail the sound.
BTW, subbed, notification bell etc. for months ;)
Omg yes wooo. Been requesting this for ages
Yes this is amazing I’ve been waiting
Sound like architects.
yes!
Here are some blueprints
*Dad jokes*
Alter Bridge by Busting, you've remade nearly all the ones in the original shoot but not Alter Bridge yet
Or even a remake of the without busting, since they didnt do myles` rig back then
hell yeah!!! =D
Would like to see Tremonti (Marks solo band) too on a By Busting. Maybe they'll wait for the PRS MT15 to come out but would love to see them do the dual amp set up along with a Fender Twin reissue aswell, would be a very expensive rig
tbh, Creed is like Alter Bridge lite. And Creed came first. That basically says it all. AB3 is a fantastic album start to finish, as is Fortress. Im not so much a fan of the newest one, but definitely AB3 and Blackbird era AB are great. Just my opinion but if you think theyre bad, id listen to those albums before passing judgement if you think there like a crap creed, cos honestly its totally the other way around haha Songs like Cry of Achilles, words darker than their wings and All hope is gone are personal favourites
YES I WANT IT TOO. Fak fak fak mathafakkers do it nooooww!
I have been waiting for this one for a long time!!!
Gojira have been an absolute favourite of mine since I saw them live in Leeds last year, just before Magma was released. They are kings at what they do. Loved the video!
Please do Sounds Like Megadeth without busting the bank.
Jackson King V KVXT and Marshall DSL40 for Dave. I think in one of his old rig rundowns he said he likes mxr phase 90 and flange pedals. This would be quite a bit under the budget of £1500. I don't think Dave uses pedals often anyways, so you could maybe get away with buying none and buying a better Amp.
I was about to comment the exact same thing
@@zachwoodroffe8259 intresting. good high gain amp and jackson loaded with jb's. Engl does the megadeth tone also very good, engl se and or something similair.
Peavey XXX
Sound like Opeth would be cool.
FCGREGOR Now that would be good
Finally! Crazy how great those tones sound from a pedal. Ready for Gojira BY BUSTING now!!! 🤘🤘🤘
You guys sound and look as good as ever. Cheers!
FINALLY ! Behemoth next !
Your vocal panning has been off in quite a few videos. Guy on left panned to right and so on. Not a big thing, but annoying when watching with headphones.
this
I really wish you didn't point that out
switch the headphones around? XD
Does it really matter? I didn't notice.
love it! some great chugging there
Josh! You maniac! I love your style!
Sounds like the Melvins.
This needs to happen
Yes please!
That would be GOLD
It's not just a great idea, but it's also not too hard either. A good Epiphone Les Paul through a strong solid state amp with some fuzz and octave, and you can figure out the rest rather easily. The only issue I see is that Buzz is known for using 15 inch speakers in his custom Blown cabinets, so I'm not sure if it would sound drastically different with 12 inch speaker amps.
18:04 Gojira does make you work faster! I've lost count of the number of times I've done homework to flying whales.
Incredible vid guys! I would love to hear a sound like Deafheaven edition! Keep up the fantastic work
Where have ya's been? Love these videos please make more
Aw man, I really wanted to hear Rabea do the tapping riff in "Silvera"!
Opeth please
Sick riffs, and I really enjoy that Flux Drive.
I was literally thinking of this a few days ago and now here it is!
Oh boy, oh boy...
Next would be awesome to see sound like:
-Metallica (by busting)
-Opeth
-The Specials
-Reel Big Fish
-Phish
123 Hanson oom bop era
Reel Big fish? Hell Yeah! But you need trumpets😁
How about: bowling for soup, goldfinger or offspring, or less than Jake. 😊
Opeth please!!!!!!!!
Opeth would be sick
123
Metallica's main rig consists of the following:
James Hetfield
●ESP/LTD Snakebyte
●Roland JC-120H through a Mesa Boogie Cabinet
●And a whole bunch of YEAH!!!!!!
Kirk Hammett
●LTD KH-602 (Hammett's "Skully" Guitar)
●Randall KH-103 Amphead ran through a Randall KH-412 Cab
●One word: Wah.
Finally!!! thank you, even tho you guys butchered those riffs
Now please, sound like Trivium!
Damn! Really nailed this one!
Fantastic tone!
Please do Sunn O)))
20 fuzz pedals
and a high gauge bass string
Pretty much in the name. A massive Sunn amp, cranked all the way up. I think they use a ProCo rat as well.
fair enough, wouldn't know
Just record a very loud refridgerator
4:45 Rob Scallon chapman signature model
Ahhhhhh thank you so much!
Killer tones guys!
Lamb of God please!!!
Does Andertons have anything in stock?
I have been waiting for this episode for years. Gojira is a band that sounds as huge as a city. I always imagine that their just amplify a suspension bridge for their guitar tone. It's definitely a difficult tone to get, because so much of it seems to be in the final studio mix, with the bass and the drums and everything making this tremendous sound. But this was definitely right in the ballpark, so thanks for the video! Loved it.
Baroness please!!! I’ve been requesting it for like 2 years now haha. Still one of the best series’ on CZcams in my opinion.
Sound like Chevelle!
When you're talking about the Chapman, look at Joss in the background xD
You should include bass in these vids.
Wouldn’t work
that sound IMMENSE great job
Well done on this one boys!
Sound like The Sword (Warp Riders)
monsterlikegod hell yea beautiful album, riffs as fuck
Sound like SLAYER!
ALL THE GAIN! NO MIDS! SLAYEEEEERRRRRR. (yes I know in reality they use Marshalls with plenty of mids but there was an opportunity)
That'd be the slayest.
Bad move, garrett, *bad move*. Ur starting with the shitty puns, get out.
Great sounds like guys
Yhaaash thaaaanks guys, awesome! :D
4:45 he scared me to death with that stare! XD
Next you should do sound like Buckethead. \m/
Dushawn Mandic Can someone even play like him though?
About fucking time you guys did this!
rab and josh's heads bobbing in unison to keep the time.
Can we get a sounds like the Clash? On the cheap too...
First & Last yess
Sound like buckethead without busting the bank
Yeyeyeyeyeyeye been waiting ages for this! Good times indeed from the French riff bois
FINALLY! My prayers have been heard!
Sound like Godspeed You! Black Emperor without busting the bank. I dare you.
dont forget a screwdriver!
Tele for Moya, Les Paul with bigsby/Jaguar with humbuckers for Efrim, Ampeg (I think?) Amps, regular Boss pedals, then alternate tunings and screwdrivers all the way
Sound like Tom Morello without busting the bank would be a great challenge. Riffs and licks are not that hard, but the sound is quite unique.
Sikth would be amaizing, I'd love to hear Rabea play some classic sikth.
Gojira by busting the bank! Great job, good sounding rig.
Sounds like Opeth
Joss is in the back @4:43
That blue LTD in the background during the guitar into is gorgeous 😍
Nailed it, you guys
Yes! Now do King's X!!
4:43 LMAO
Sneaky Joss
I thought i was the only one who noticed that hahaha
Joss being a creep
Saw these guys open for metallica in San Diego, Massive sounding. Super humble too
I wish I could like this a thousand times!
Faith No More By busting pleaaaaseeee!!!
Seconded.
Yes!!!
this one i forgot was a heavy requested sound like
now let's get a sound like for the following:
Fleetwood Mac - Lindsey Buckingham
Tame Impala - Kevin Parker
Dinosaur Jr - J Mascis
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Mike Campbell & Tom Petty (RIP Tom)
Mick Ronson (RIP)
St Vincent - Annie Clark
Mars Volta - Omar Rodriguez Lopes
The Cure - Robert Smith
J is all about the fuzz tone so it'll be signature jazzmaster with maybe a marshall amp and a bunch of fuzzes and stuff and a wah for little fury things
we need that Tame impala sound like video
Sound like Extreme pleeeeaaaase ! Keep up with the good music guys :)
i never clicked on a video faster! didn't think you guys would of done a gojira vid
Sound like Michael Schenker
Sound like Buckethead!!!
Manuel yes please!
Problem is he sounds different on every album
Hell yeah, Finally!
YESSSS IT ABOUT TIME
Sounds like Children of Bodom
ESP Alexi
Marshall Amp
Boss Delay
Boss Chorus
Dunlop Kirk Hammett Wah
sorted
Time to do another fun 90's band. The Offspring please.
pretty spot on in my opinion...
Yeah !! love Gojira!
Next video: sound like ARCHITECTS!!! 🤘
Do "Sound like KC and the Sunshine Band" by busting the bank!
Matt and Rabea seem like pretty cool and chill guys
Wish they were my friends :)
You guys do an amazing job on all of these! I would like to request a Sounds like Dan Patlansky
Friedman OD pedal much more close to MXR EVH than mesa pedal ...
sound like trivium should be the next
I remember when Josh was in GAK and everybody used to criticize his tone.
dude, he truly truly rocks
I must say, I'm loving the way that chapman tele looks! Also, can't wait for Gorjira BY busting the bank.
I instantly dropped what I was doing to watch this, no regrets
Didn’t have much hope after they said the wrong tuning at the beginning lol
Love watching you guys spending more time picking gear in the shop. We can go vicariously shopping with you.
How about sounds like dinosaur jr. or Midnight Oil?
May that be the first Chapman that got used in this series? Nice choice, guys! The rigs sound badass!
