I always sound like a tool without busting the bank 😂.
What if you did bust the bank?
Ditto
Me too, but my bank stays busted on its own
Don’t be so hard on yourself

Absolutely loved doing this one, Justin is one of my favourite bassists :)
You are shining bright on these sounds like! Amazing stuff!
I'm in love with a girl who plays Tool ❤️🤘🏼
We can tell!!!!!
You absolutely killed it.
Your tone was spot on and you crushed those bass lines!
The bass playing was impeccable this week
When isn't it though?
Dave and Cici your videos on Andertons are just getting better and better. Everything from your antics in the shop to your playing in the video room, it’s all brilliant.
That bass sound is almost spot on.
It's kinda weird how well she nailed it with a cheap bass and cheap amp.
Lots of respect for her bass playing. She's awesome
Really excellent tone there
Not rly no - but it cant achived with "budget".
I would say if it had less gain it would be dead on
Cici really killed it with that tone!
It's cool that Pneuma is already such a classic track that they led off the sound demo with it.
Going to say CiCi you and Dave really are in sync with each other and the fact you can play in time with no drummer it’s really amazing you guys have breathe new life into this series look forward to more, also would love to see you guys do some 80s metal bands sounds alike one of these days as well
They did a great job. More of that pair please Capt.
Awesome stuff! Also, Cici was absolutely killing it on that bass! She totally stole the show...and I'm down for that; it's Tool!
Gotta admit: I had my doubts as you were picking out the gear, but I was pleasantly surprised when it came time to play the songs! For budget gear, it all sounded killer…great playing too!
I mean, they did make a lot of swaps but all good ones in the bass range!
This is 1000 times better than the other reviewers.
The guitar/bass combo (with actual songs, no noodling) gear review was absolutely brilliant. 😁👍
Cici's bass playing is awesome!
Cici and Dave, you guys are so awesome. Love your guys’ chemistry and love that you can get killer sounds without having to spend a fortune.
Wooofff.... Cici crushed it...
The effort it takes to cover such a variety of styles is not lost on us! Picking the right gear (= making the correct compromises for a budget) requires tons of experience, but getting the playing tight, even more so. You are the best!
...agree ...easy to forget the breadth of repertoire
Once again you guys absolutely nailed it! Whenever I watch an episode Sounds Like I’m always totally blown away by how much both Cici and Dave match the playing style and the tones of the various players they’re imitating. Awesome stuff 🙌
I can't believe how authentic you managed to make it sound. Particularly for Schism i got goosebumps. Fairplay lads wow
Cici, damn. What an addition to the crew!
Awesome video, the bass sounds absolutely epic, great playing as always. I nearly wet my pants when Vicarious kicked in.
Thanks guys 🙂 you've really made this a great series and I love the longer format with more deliberation and discussion/explanations about gear and the bands you cover. That V looks awesome too 😎
The longer I follow Cici the more I think Ibanez just make awesome basses.
I have that same feeling. This is the second Andertons video with that she's done with that SR300E, and... yet again confirms the versatility of the thing. (Why pay three-four times as much for a Fender with less utility?)
They defintely do. Especially in the low price to mid price range Ibanez is hard to beat when it comes to bass
You both killed it! Great sounds! Congrats on the new amp.
Good to hear the bass being well up in the mix this time! 👍
I have just emitted an offensive pong. I live in a bedsit. I am eating a jar of pickled mussels. I like pickled mussels. Do you like pickled mussels. Have you got false teeth? I have got false teeth. would you like to come over for some pickled mussels and we will take it from there
Great job guys! Been Watching this series since the first and this is possibly my favorite to date!
Been waiting for this updated TOOL video, nice!
That bass tone was sick
Once again both of you killed it. 👏 👏 👏 👏 for standing up and playing. About time :-)
Very cool, enjoyed this a lot. Thanks for including more of the deliberations!
Yessss! I've been waiting for this one!
Just awesome sounds guys. Superb playing as always.
You guys blow me away with how good you 2 sound together. And you always get the music spot on perfect.
While I don't know how it sounded in the room, Cici's rig sounded awesome and considering all the various amps that Tool use a moddeling amp like the Catalyst is really the only shout for a working man's budget.
Remember last video when I said it was my favourite one you guys had done....
Well you topped it. This was epic! Well done team!
Love the duo and so excited to have some Tool content.
yeaasssss. So happy you are doing this!!!
Stellar playing and tone from the both of you! Doing all that weird time signatures without drums is quite a feat!
And oh my god is that Epiphone a beauty!
YES!!!! I've been waiting for this one
Excellent video and nice job! Damn close without busting the bank. Absolutely enjoy your Trio.
Justin's tone is really difficult to recreate without a bazilion of pedals and parallel processing, i was really expecting Cici to go full multi-fx, but i apreciate the bald move to go with single pedals :D
ive been waiting for this video for so long
It’s cool to see that Anderton’s has such a large selection of Gibson USA guitars. None of my local shops here in the US have that many to choose from.
Thanks for standing up playing...always gets more rocknroll and real feel and sound
Wow outstanding bass tones & playing !!!
This was entertaining! Great job on the tones and playing, you two! 😇😇😇
Love these 2, brilliant once again.
WOW!! Sounds amazing!
this is my fave video by far so far ty guys and gals loved it!!!!
Really enjoyed this episode, not an easy one - well done guys 👍🏻
...REALLY great job guys ...that bass sound is fantastic! Well done
I love these two they're great. Keep up the Great work ANDERTONS love all your videos
Man, that bass tone in the bit of Schism at the end sounded spot on! I guess I have to get myself a Golden Plexi for that little dirt in my bass tone.
One of my favourite bands, thanks guys 👍🏼
You guys are awesome! You need to do more of these😊
Adam's sound actually isn't that complicated. Its all from his amp (Diezel VH4). The easiest way to replicate Adam's sound without buying the $3,500 amp would have been to just get the Diezel VH4 pedal. It replicates it pretty accurately. The key with the real Diezel VH4 and the pedal are that they are heavy on mids. The Marshall amps he uses, like most Marshalls, is probably just putting the treble back in because he maxes out the mids on the Diezel. A Marshall amp alone would have way too much treble to replicate his sound though. Most musicians don't use Diezels because they're expensive and loud, so it keeps Adam's sound pretty unique. But if you ever hear a Diezel in person, you'll instantly hear Adam's core sound.
Can confirm this, I have a Diezel Vh4 pedal, and it's both the best distortion pedal I've ever used, and the best way to get Adam's tone on a budget
Yeah, if you look at his settings on the Marshalls EQ pots - he has the bass all the way off, mid 9'Oclock and the treble cranked all the way. I run my VH4 pedal into my little Marshall tube amp and it sounds very close. I do have one of his signature guitars too which definitely helps 😅
If you're going for a budget ballpark of his tone and not an exact replica, any Les Paul Custom with an EQ to boost trebles for some parts, does a very decent job.
Well done! Loved this, thanks
Awesome job, sounded epic!
Dave & Cici. You two take me to my happy place. 🥰
I love how Cici tries to steer the ship while Dave's 'Charlie Chuck-esque'' shenanigans are going on. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fantastic job!
I’m so glad you guys still make this series.
Cici is just flat out amazing! Nice job guys!
Tool was an incredibly tough task to pull off on a budget and these two did exceptional. Love watching these videos and love D&Q!!!
Bass was absolutely magic, I really do like that bass! CiCi absolutely killed it!
Dave did a great job on guitar as always but I’m not 100% that he might of done better with amp and pedals.
PERFECTION! Cici NAILED IT! Adam as well!
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! You guys sound SO great!
I've watched pretty much all the "sound like" vids and this is one of the best so far - really really interesting and so now I'm off to program up my Rumble Studio 40 with some pedals to get some of those lovely bass tones 🙂
Still waiting for a "sound like Rush" vid though - Geddy should be fairly straight forward, it's Dave sorting the Alex parts, even as a bass player myself, that I'd be very very interested in.
Keep up the great work, loving this new pairing for Cici and Dave, hugely engaging and likeable folk x
Superb as always! U 2 r amazing!
Cici nailed the gear, but a lot of the tone was coming from her technique. Great video.
top duo, really enjoying. Both tones sound great, esp the bass!
Amazing set ups, beautiful instruments and great sounds! I don’t even listen to tool and I loved it
Awesome video Favorite band. You guys did good
Awesome job on the bass!
Great stuff. The more of these I watch the more I realise what a powerhouse the Katana is.
Dave makes it look easy and sounds awesome on that V. CiCi ticked every box..🙏🏻🇦🇺
That bas sounds absolutely amazing
Best sounds like this year ! wow the bass was phenomenal
Dave! So on point with the rhythm!
The best sounds like yet!
Fantastic! I like that V guitar man!
I had to laugh watching Dave go full ADHD at the three minute mark while Cici tries to decide on a bass pedal
Tip for getting Justin Chancellor tones: light, studio like compression at the end of the chain. It really elevates the high end and glues chordal playing really well
The bass was spot on. I feel like Dave did a good job with the guitar given the constraints, but I probably would have gone with the Epi Les Paul and gotten a better amp, cause there seemed to be a lack of top end cut, the guitar was getting lost in the mix. I know Adam is all about the mids, but there was something missing in the guitar tone (to be fair, the budget constraints are most likely why it’s hard to get it just like Adam, but Dave seemed to prioritize the look of the guitar over getting the tone as close as possible).
The Dynamic Duo rocks again !
wow !!! You are amazing musicians people ! Not that easy to get those guys sound and style and you two just nailed it ! wow...
Cici that bass tone and playing was unreal! That blue bass is a thing of beauty
Thank you so much! :) it’s an awesome bass!
that bass is roaring!
Fun stuff!
great playing peeps, that V sounded too bass-ey, now do another one BY busting the bank.
Girl on the bass, incredible.
Stellar !
Being as I’m an old git I don’t think I’ve ever heard Tool before. Just love watching you and Dave doing what you do. I only listen to 50 year old music these days.😊 love that V, Dave you need it.😊
If you are a musician, you have to listen to some Tool songs, it will change you, I promise
That's fine. I listen and play jazz more so I don't listen that much Tool. I like Rush more.
@@bassyey the drummers are very similar, Danys hero is Neil, they also played alot together in session work, I also am a huge Rush fan, guitar work is what catches my attention, but the drumming by Neil was life changing to me.
But Tool are old gits as well, not exactly contemporary rock anymore 😅
That bass tone!❤️
The video we’ve all been waiting for!!!!!!!
Funnily enough the original sounds like tool without busting the bank initially got me into the band. Great job on this one too!
About 1000 times better than the last tool vids. Good work
I'm frankly terrified how accurate this tone is... Nailed the brief on this one!
How the fk can you nail the JC bass tone for under a grand so spot on…it’s awesome! Bravo!
Thank you!! :)
Cici and Dave are just outstanding musicians.
Yes!! Getting the sound with 'simple', affordable gear. That's one thing. But what's more important, is that you guys can play it!
Thumbs up for Schism alone. Y'two nailed that. Lovely.
I know the rigs were great, the video was great and all. But the musicians! Wow! Dave and Cici! Great musicians!
