Borje Salming, Toronto Maple Leafs Legend, and Movie Actor?

- Borje Salming remains the highest scoring Leafs defenceman of all time. George Armstrong called him the most talented Leaf of all time. In 1996 he became the first Swedish player to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. He also did a bit of acting it seems. And I segue some of his Leafs highlights into his scene from a 1992 Swedish made for TV movie called Hassel - De giriga.

Wow, I had no idea he acted. I'm a swede and I was aware of the old Hassel series but never knew Borje starred in one of them. I'm gonna have to see if a dvd of it is available.

He didn't star in the movie. From what I read that was his only scene in the movie, and it happened right at the beginning. I don't think he appeared again in the movie from what I understand. He is such a hero amongst Leafs fans, and I heard that he isn't well now. So I just thought that adding the movie clip to my video about him would really help show what a cool guy he is.
@@JeffTheLeafsFan I regret not going up to Kiruna, his home town, a few years ago in December 2016 when a banner was raised in his honor in his home arena. Tiger was there with Borje and I would have loved to meet Tiger. Unfortunately I only heard about it after the fact.
Speaking of Leafs and acting, did you know Tie Domi was in a movie in the 90s?
And it was a speaking part, too. I have it on VHS somewhere 😅
The movie is called Men of Means.
I've always liked seeing NHL players in movies. Marty McSorley's been in quite a few. And Chelios, Modano, Melrose, Babych, Probert, I'm probably forgetting many names.

@@jockejocke1 I might have to look for that Tie Domi movie online! You mentioned Tiger Williams, he was the original Tie Domi in my opinion!!!
@@JeffTheLeafsFan Yes, I love Tiger. He's one of my favorite players. I have his autobiography and I even have his cook book 😄
And I just remembered that Tiger has been acting too. In the tv series Rent a Goalie he had a speaking part. Other episodes also had Paul Coffey, Darryl Sittler, Bob Probert, Tie Domi and some others. All the episodes of Rent a Goalie are on CZcams.
And about the movie Men of Means with Tie Domi. His part is in a two-minute scene where he plays a mob hit man during a mexican stand-off type of situation. The movie is really bad and I remember buying it over twenty years ago on VHS because I really liked Domi.
I got to see Domi play during the 04-05 lockout when he came with Mats to Sweden.
