That Rowan turn of Blasphemous Act into Comet Storm into Electrodominance into Blood for the Blood God is about 400% more than I needed to get the deck. I must do this.
That turn had me legit giggling and wondering how it was only a third if the way into the video.
I have Rowan as a commander and it is killing. I you want to be salty, then take Doomsday into your deck and take care to have some counter spells like pyroblas and tibalts trickery. Also, Dualcaster mage+saw in half + any mana-giving spell gives you infinite mana.
He also messed up that turn, when Rachel hit him for 4 more damage, he should've been casting with a 15 discount not 11
@@wobblycobbly3562he didn't. The damage was dealt after Rowan's effect resolved, so it doesn't count toward the reduction.

Brian saying "OW!" Every time he hurts himself, interspersed with his infectious laughter is everything.
Starfield of Nyx does not animate itself. "Each OTHER non-aura enchantment becomes a creature..."
Parallel Lives being reanimated would not double itself because the action making it a token happens when it isnt on the battlefield.
A friend of mine has been grinding the hell out of Anikthea trying to optimize his ability to pilot her, so our group has run into a lot of these questions.
Rachel is always a joy to watch play, and Brian out the gate making himself the archenemy by casting 34 mana worth of spells in 1 main phase was hilarious.
Oh man that would've changed the game completely since all of the enchantments would have died from the boardwipe except starfield

Starfield of Nyx made Rachel's boardwipe so much better, except they missed that
@@zsorens4570 Yeah, that's the downside of Starfield of Nyx. One board wipe, and you're out all your enchantments. Gotta throw an Eldrazi Monument in there so they can be Indestructible.
One of the reasons why my enchantress edh runs Faith Healer, to sac starfield when its a liability.

I really love commander at home. It's my favorite "actual play" channel. You all seem to have so much fun.
I even made a deck based off seeing how much fun Brian was having with Ghired.
I really appreciate the attention to detail with the editing and camera angles so we can see the cards and know what is going on.
And whoever did the music and video for the opener is a genius and I hope you paid them extremely well. It's by far the best opener of any CZcams channel I've seen on any topic.
Two brief comments: 1. From a viewer that's been watching Commander @ Home since day 1, the show production quality has increased a lot. The same great content, way more attention to set and lighting and audio. Congrats! 2. I think it's great to see the MTG community supporting one another. Kudos on having Rachel on, and on using Sam's shirt. That's the way to grow everyone's viewership!
I just wish they wouldn't highlight controversial figures like Joe. We have other players in the community that deserve to have a platform.

Love the show! That being said a major error that could have easily changed the outcome of the game was Rachel’s boardwipe at 59:24 would’ve taken out all the enchantments on Joe’s board because of Starfield of Nyx.
Joe sacrificed starfield to protect his greater auramancy from Kibler's removal spell around 56:10, so it wasn't on the field when rachel used her board wipe
But, now that I thiink about it, starfield doesnt make itself an enchantment so he wouldn't have been able to sacrifice it to evolutionary leap to begin with

Really fun episode. Brian's chaos was awesome early in the game. The oversight of the boardwipe and it's effect on Joe's board is painful. I understand we miss things and mistakes are made, but besides Nyx, all enchantments were creatures and should've been blown up, I believe. Rachel could've pinged him to death with Goblin Bombardment, prior to the Nyx bringing back Leyline. After Brian's upkeep and the lifeloss, Rachel could've sacced the remainder of her tokens and finished the game. That's a big oversight. I believe Joe should've caught that.
the type of player joe is he would never do that. this is a heart felt show we all love and he has a before game action like bro wtf. also if you look up everybodys decks his deck is literally 3/4x more than anyone else's kinda sickening. can't stand the guy.
Wednesday episodes are so convienient, you watch a video to get you in the mood, Thursday you tune your decks and binders and ... boom you are hyped up for Friday Night magic !!!
My LGS has magic on Thursdays, so it gives me a chance to see cards I might want, then I can look for them the next day.

This has been scratching the itch of missing game nights with friends. The atmosphere is beautiful, keep up the amazing work. Y’all are incredible!

I get that you should give people the chance to show they've improved and that mistakes sometimes happen, but when the three biggest "mistakes" just so happen to be around Joe's cards and benefit him immensely, it really starts getting fishy.
Sure, Brian caught that he was playing Karmic Justice absolutely wrong, and no one questioned Parallel Lives shouldn't have made that copy, but those were still interpretations Joe made when HE should be the one who knows his deck. And if he had played Starfield of Nyx right, he wouldn't have any way of protecting his board.
Not saying it was on purpose. Again, mistakes happen. But Joe's background of being a bully and a salty loser really leaves a sour taste in my mouth when he only won because he played his cards wrong.
His deck is also $3k, second highest out of this pod is in the $600s. Looked at the decklists before hitting play and I just knew Joe was going to be playing the Anikthea, Hand of Erebo$ deck.
I gave it a chance after the I Hate Your Deck nonsense happened, but it seems like Joe's "oopsies" have carried over and it's real annoying tbh
What happened at IHYD?
A lot of these shows let players free mulligan until they get a playable hand provided they have fast mana in it, makes me wonder how many times joe mulliganed to have that leyline in his hand
@dietdrshredder To be fair, some of us simply have a lot of older cards... it costs me $0 to have 4 full UBR dual 5 color deck, I have 3 Serra's Sanctums, 4 Cradles, 4 City of Traitors, 4 OG Doubling Seasons, 2 new ones, so on and so forth. Sure, I hated the play mistakes this game, but just because people have an "expensive deck" it does not mean they are cheesing their way through things on their credit cards. Unless someone wants to toss me an obscene pile of cash, if I have the cards I am gonna play them... except stuff like Alpha Tutors, Library of Alexandria ect... as they are bad, or simply Tutors, which are not fun in EDH.
I find it astonishing that no one noticed Joe's mistake when he claimed Starfield of Nyx was a creature. When Rachel wiped out all creatures on the board, Joe's entire board should have been cleared, except for Starfield of Nyx. This oversight is particularly unexpected considering that Starfield of Nyx is widely recognized as a high-risk, high-reward card to play.

Those enchantments not dying was massive, would have been satisfying to see the player who was playing so many you can't touch me spells get opened up on, especially when they open the game with a protection spell on the board, fuck opening hand spells btw.
He had the Dryad which allows him to play another land each turn. Explains the land, but the rest of your post still applies of course
I love Joe’s channel but the amount of time he spends doing magic you’d think he’d know rules better. Sometimes I feel like it’s weaponized incompetence, he sees what he can get away with to put himself in a better position
@@justicemcbride2958 you have to take in the fact that when you’re on camera you prioritize performance and entertainment. Everything else becomes second. This is also a new deck so I’ve only played it a handful of times. You’re implying that I’m trying to pull one over on my friends which is not the case at all. The CZcams comment section is a wild thing I tell ya.

I don't see any other comments on it, but Rowan's Grim Search allows you to put *all 4 cards* into the grave if you want to. If all 4 are bad, throw em out and get 2 random ones!

Longtime fan of Brian, EDHijinks, and The Command Zone. I've always avoided Joe's channel and his guest spots based on the screenshots and behavior, but decided to give this one a try. Seeing the game warped his way just leaves a really bad watch feeling. EDHijinks it's easy to focus more on the conversation than the play and have it feel like a podcast, but actual play shows like this one it is really fun to get wrapped up in the game and the story it tells. In the future, if you could add a disclaimer in the video itself (The Professor is great at catching these and throwing them in), it might be a big help! Or as the channel keeps growing, it might be worth it to have a judge linger around (every gameplay show could use a Serge Yager

I watch his channel a lot he's just as great, silly and fun as anyone else on the table and the only salt I've ever seen in one of his episodes was from cashes scooping because his commander got countered

Shouldn't Joe's Leyline have been animated by starfield therefore it would have died to the boardwipe ?
Joe sacrificed the Starfield to Evolutionary Leap (56:14) in response to Brian targeting Greater Auramancy with Drain Life; it was gone before the board wipe - this is why some of the other enchantments are still around.
However, that in and of itself was a misplay since Starfield doesn't turn itself into a creature and, thus, couldn't have been sacrificed.
These are so much fun! Fun games, great people, and lots of laughs...

It's a slowly but surely trend to see Joe having "misplays" that highly benefit his gameplay.
Used to root for him, but definitely can't be on his side anymore. The comments section of all channels he appears as host or guest are proof.

I started playing magic again only about 6 months ago and my little brother gave me an enduring enchantments deck not long after the commander masters precons came out. It's been the deck I've spent the most time and money on and I love seeing the different ways other people build it.

Parallel lives is a replacement effect, so it would need to be on the field for the effect to be relevant with reanimating it with Anikthea. Also, couldn't sac starfield to evolutionary leap. It doesn't make itself a creature. Awesome game to watch though!!!!

I love how they all were like "Oh Karmic Justice doesn't work off damage." and needed to go look up martyr's bond.....and alllll glazed over the "noncreature" part (on both cards) when it was creatures that were dying.
Yeah that part kinda irked me. Of course its more obvious when the card is enlarged on screen, but I'm surprised Joe played it wrong

Continuing to give a massive bully and toxic personality like Joe a platform is disappointing to see. I understand that Brian may not have personally ever witnessed Joe's behavior, as I'm sure he acts differently around 'friends' and other content creators. but the overwhelming testimonials available online from those of us who have witnessed or been the focal point of Joe's actions should be more than enough evidence. Otherwise, you'd have to believe that there's a concerted effort from, at the very least, dozens of individuals across the country to frame Joe. Occam's Razor should be at play here.
I'll give him credit for not whining/ranting/hurling insults when his board was targeted as one of his biggest flaws has always been his desire to play solitaire with no interactions directed toward him. Hopefully this is a sign he's at least grown in that regard, though I am doubtful. While his display here wasn't as egregious as his past performances, you can still see those familiar antics peeking through every now and then.

It truly boggles my mind how he has not been blacklisted by the MTG content creator community. He is a repulsively vile individual when no one is looking, and by no one , i mean when he's not in front of the camera, so his bullying always comes at the expense of his supporters and fans who eventually contribute to the "Joe Johnson is a jack wagon" thread that appears on Reddit every so often.

The Teysa + Saw in Half with Elas math was off. When Tesya dies she does double triggers from her death so that's two Elas triggers. Then two come in and one is immediately sent to grave but since two were out at the time it is three more Elas triggers for 5 life. 4 kept being said.
Rachel is the best guest/player on any show. 10/10, no notes.

Does Greater Auramancy not keep his stuff from triggering? The whole reason I left it out of my deck is because I assumed doubling season wouldn't work on the 3/3 zombie enchantment copy
I've been wanting to build around Rowan (should I ever acquire her), and seeing how one can play such a deck is real informative.

I have Evo Leap in my Brenard "Get Baked" deck. Sacking to find the splicers is beautiful.
I love watching these vids, I really do. But that misplay on the board wipe, not killing the enchantments that counted as creatures had such a big impact late game that it just killed it for me. I couldn't keep watching, it was painful. Super cool turn by Brian though, never thought i'd see a wacky turn like that!

I've long suspected that Rowan is probably stronger than Prosper, nice to see that their is some basis to this belief! I would make an exception to the 'no tutors' rule in Rowan though and at least run Diabolic Revelation... I can't imagine a Rowan deck NOT using that absolute gem, right up to cEDH.
I feel for Weeks, I love old cards, even if new cards are usually way better, the old stuff has so much cachet, I will totally run a bad old card just for the joy of seeing it in hand, and it's rarely a single card that actually lost you the game, even if we're all convinced if we get milled for 1 we'll lose our most relevant card.
I guess Lucas was considered a pretty good director before Star Wars: A New Hope was made, the prequels make even less sense when you realize he himself could apparently direct quality cinema. My biggest problem with the prequels was probably the (very) blatant racial-stereotypes-as-aliens thing, that felt pretty bad even when I first saw it, though Watto seemed more a caricature of a relative of mine than of Jewish people (it was uncanny!). Forgive me if this is just a brain fart!
