Seriously? Just gut wrenching kitty coughing? No, this is what the vet did, I did that and I did this and now it's all rainbows and flowers?? 😧

Not sure exactly what you were expecting. Life isn't always rainbow farts & dancing & singing woodland animals. Asthma is treatable, but not curable. All you can do is give your cat there Asthma meds, and keep an eye on them for any Asthma attacks that may warrant a trip to the vet ER. Other then that all you can do is comfort them while the Asthma attack passes.

    How are you treating

Hi Shettyrocks512! I brought my cat to a vet for a consultation. We did an X-ray which showed that her lungs were cloudy - indication of asthma. Was given the drug - Theophylline to open up her airways and help her breathe better. You may want to check out my blog www.teochewgirl.com. I have written in more detail about the things I have done to help her condition, for e.g. feeding her Viralys to help in supporting her general health etc. Hope my tips can help you in some way! =)

Every hr or so is quite frequent. Mine doesn’t vomit saliva when it coughs.. It is best if you can take her to a vet to seek expert opinion to rule out asthma or hairball obstruction. For mine, the vet took an X-ray and found that her lungs were a little cloudy, and based on the symptoms she displayed, she was diagnosed with asthma and was given some drugs to open her airways so help her breathe better.
I discovered from my own experience that reducing the triggers to her asthma helped in reducing the coughs.. for example, cleaning my house more often, making it less dusty, closing the windows when the air outside smells polluted, combing my cat’s fur with a wet brush (you know the type where u can put a small piece of disposable cloth in the middle) where it can remove her shedded fur and at the same time give her a wipe down to remove dirt/dust on her fur, taking lysine (brand is called viralys, an important supplement especially for older cats), taking hairball removal paste twice a week, making sure she is not allergic to the food she takes (certain brands of food triggers her asthma). Most importantly is to make sure she is not stressed (changing environment can stress a cat out, can try using Feliway spray to help it relax). I give my cat a massage whenever I can and I find that it helps her relax.
Anyway, I hope your cat gets better soon!

@@teochewgirl4787 thank you for the reply.. I took her to vet . Turned out it was a viral infection. She recovered after 3 days of treatment 😀. Ive bought hair ball removal paste now. Will start feeding it to her every two weeks.. Thanks again 🙏
