I agree with you ..if that Drs' eye looked like that for months and months I'm sure it would bother him ! That sling needs to come out and give his eyelid a chance to heal and rest. I believe mom knows best...you are with him everyday.... they see him for 15 minutes. Stand your ground mom, I know you will make the right decision for your son.
Oh mama, I felt this episode I have a son with a serious medical condition and really felt this appointment. I’ve been there. This doctor frustrated me because I felt he wasn’t listening to you but rather talking over…… he should have picked up on your body language, your facial expressions and your frustration. If only my voice could carry through a screen. lol thank you for sharing and taking us with you in this journey. While our children’s conditions may be very different. It gives me strength seeing another mom navigating the system and advocating for their child……and great to see Aunty back as always!!

You spend every day with this precious child you know him inside and out if you say something is wrong, something is wrong. I was ignored by my child specialist as well and my concerns sluffed off, and he almost died.. I tell you I was beyond mama bear mode activated , I wish I would’ve put my foot down when my gut was telling me too, in the first place. but you live and learn it taught me that while doctors are educated, they are not gods, and no education can overpower our mothers intuition So very grateful he’s still here and we seem to be doing well. You were very informed about Sebastian's eye and treatment plan. I'm not in that doctor's position but his bedside manner wouldn't put a mom at ease. You are justified in how you feel. At one point he said the procedure technique is more advanced now, so maybe that is a good thing? I understand it must be unsettling to take a doctor's word when you don't feel as if he listened to you. Wishing the best for Sebastian and family ❤
You did not overreact. How many times do you have to say " its been going on for months & months"? When the Dr. later said " and its getting better" I spit my coffee out. For crying out loud! I agree with you that he needs surgery & totally feel your exasperation & doubts. You go with your gut Mama bear. Praying for you all.
Stephanie, I applaud you for being that Mama Bear for your baby Sebastian.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Nobody knows what it’s like unless you are walking in your shoes. The people that will say “ do it like this” “ you don’t know” have never been in your situation. You are first Sebastian mommy but also his caregiver for the rest of his life or yours. There’s no breaks, this is a 23/7 journey. I can speak because I was a full time caregiver for my husband 24/7 for his last 4years. I can’t even compare it to our precious little Sebastian. It’s hard ass work but your find all this strength and energy you never imagine having. If I lived close to you and I would gain your trust and friendship I would help you with him, but I know he has his awesome Manina. Love the girl too. I support you all the way. Only you knows what’s best for baby boy. Bless Sebastian ❤ I've had 4 eye surgeries (retina detachment) within these last 10 months & a cataract surgery coming up in June. I must say, eye stuff is uncomfortable. So I can imagine the pain Sebastian is feeling without being able to tell you his pain level. 😢 Material in the eye is definitely not comfortable. I also have material holding my retina attached ( Scalar buckle) I tell my eye specialist all the time that I can feel the buckle, and it's uncomfortable, but he doesn't think it's a problem. Smh! I totally understand you Steph!!! 💯
Doctors are always supposed to offer ALL options including doing nothing if it's viable. It may not be what you choose, but it's an option nonetheless. It sounded like he is wiling to drain the stye and get a better look at what's under the eye so he has a clearer picture of what's going on. Sounds like a good plan.
Absolutely. There are many factors and options. After having a swollen eyelid for almost a year though, I do believe doing ‘nothing’ and ‘monitoring progress’ shouldn’t be an option at this point is the only thing I was trying to communicate in this video. 🩵
You’re an amazing mom for standing up for Sebastian and trusting your gut instead of letting fear of judgement or backlash keep you silent. I was also born with medical complexities due to genetic differences and without going into too much detail, letting doctors have the final say in my care/not speaking up when she had concerns is one of my mom’s biggest regrets as I am still affected by some of the consequences today. Like you said, you are his mother and you know him and his needs better than any doctor could ever hope to. It’s not like you’re ignoring the professionals by any means-I can tell that you are very meticulous in selecting each member of his medical team, listen actively and ask questions during his appointments, and consider all the information that they give you before making decisions about Sebastian’s care. But expecting you to blindly follow other people’s advice just because they have a degree is ridiculous. You have nothing to apologize for. Sebastian is happy, thriving, and achieving so much. If that’s not proof that you know what you’re doing an excellent job raising him (as well as what a sweet, smart, and strong kid he is) I don’t know what is. Also, I may not be a doctor, but letting an infection go on for that long without fixing to the root of the problem-especially when it’s causing him so much pain and discomfort-does not sit right with me either. If I was in your position I would’ve stood my ground too.
Awww Steph! I get how stressful this must be. Especially when you feel you are not being heard! In the meantime, it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion. I encourage you to do so, because I too am not convinced it's just a stye. You have seen bumps in different places on his eye lid...so something isn't adding up. Try not to stress too much... Stephanie, you are Sebastian’s advocate and you know what’s going on with your son. He has had a red eye for a very long time. The redness means it is an infection or else it would not be red. Mother usually knows best and you know what your son needs better than anyone don’t forget that. you are an amazing mother to a beautiful son, that lights up the the world with his smile and melts hearts everywhere. Now days, we all need a medical advocate. Not one that is employed by the hospital or specialized clinic. Most of us do not have any medical knowledge outside of the medicine cabinet. We don't understand what is wrong, we just know the symptoms are of something just not normal. Especially with our children or spouse. We have to do our own research. Make a consultation appointment before exams just to talk face to face. Navigating the medical community is difficult at best. But, the most important thing upfront is DO NOT let them intimidate you. You are doing great. You and your husband are on a tough journey, but a rewarding one. Y'all are doing fine. 🙏❤

Yummmmm…that breakfast looks delicious!!! ❤️ I had cancer many years ago and I fired my doctor because I didn’t like what he told me…I went home feeling hopeless and sooooo depressed. The best advice I was ever given in life was from my sister in law after my first son was born. She told me that everyone was going to advise me…do this…don’t do that, etc. She said, “Listen to all of it, and then go home and do what you think is best!!!” The same goes for you Stephanie…you are Sebastian’s mama and in your heart you know what’s best for Sebastian. ❤️❤️❤️

As mothers, we always have to go with our gut and you most definitely are doing that!! You are smart and well informed about Sebastian and his needs Stephanie. Whether someone disagrees or not, in the long run it is your and Gio's decision, period. Not all physicians are going to meet the needs of patients and that's ok 😊 that's why there are second opinions. I pray that God will have His hand in giving you and Gio guidance 🙏
I felt encouraged that the Dr. was confident and willing to do the surgery if you choose to go that path. You are his main doctor so trust your gut! Really proud of you. I raised a special needs son and it can be exhausting and scary at times but you are an incredible mother to Sebastian. Also, can we discuss how stinking cute he was at breakfast. He was in food Heaven 😂❤

As a parent. My son has no issues. When he was young I spent 1-2 days every week at the pediatrician office he had a chronic ear infections.Doctor said he will out grow them well then we kept getting strep. I said enough is enough. Took him to a ent got his tonsils and adenoids out the left tonsils was nothing but puss. You know him better than anyone. If you need to go get a second opinion no harm no fowl do what you feel is right for Sebastian. Never stop fighting for him. ♥️♥️🥰

I had Styes at the same exact age as Sebastian. Trust me. I had antibiotic off and on for months. Finally a Doctor decided to do the surgery (because I had it in both eyes) . You’re sooooo right that you know your Baby better than anyone else. Never feel bad about your opinion and concerns. ❤
You have a LOT to take in and think about. Go with your gut feeling. In your heart, you know what is best for your son. Stay strong and hang in there, Steph...God will wrap his arms around Sebastian and God will give the surgeon wisdom and guidance. You are in my prayers.
Poor Little Guy .... Always something, Try to ease his inflammation by soaking his eye with warm green tea ... is also good for pink eye, itchy eye, minor eye irritations, ask Gio's Mom or Abuela. I think you are so right. Just watch it is not an answer to solve the problem or it would have gone away. If it was on my eye or my child’s would want it resolved. There has to be a reason why it’s staying swollen and irritated. You’re a great mom and do not want your son hurt or ill.

I'm getting the same vibes as you Stephanie...This Dr. seems to be addressing symptoms and not a permanent or long term cure. Your goal for Sebastian is clear - correct the eye issue(s) on a permanent basis so Sebastian has the best long-term outcome. Ironically, I was thinking that you really do have the experience of a Doctor and the hands on experience of a Psysician. It may be a bit better because of the antibiotic.But that still doesn’t explain why it keeps happening. Or what the underlining cause is. It seems the only way is to put him under and see. I’m praying for answers 💜💜💜💜Also Stephanie, Drs are human and some are confident about their ability and some are intimidated with special-needs kids . I’m not sure why ,I have a special-needs daughter and we’ve dealt with that our whole life until the parent says I want something to be done or checked out or whatever they’re really almost afraid to make a commitment and that Dr talked in circles like I have never heard. With that said surgeons for the most part can be very good , just not a good bed said manor .🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Only you, as his mom, knows what's best for Sebastian. My son has epilepsy and I don't always agree with his neurologist. Don't ever feel like you have to defend yourself for your thoughts. We love you and your family ❤❤❤❤
Steph you are 100% correct to keep pushing for Sebastian’s eye health. I never appreciated it whenever doctors didn’t take my opinions about my kids. You keep on pushing for what you feel is right. Sorry I don’t want to get involved but look in his mouth for a bad tooth- his cheek is pretty inflamed and I did mention before about eye pad washes I have to use these having thick long eyelashes- he has had this for along time another thing the way he chews on his cloth might have got caught in his teeth!
Hi! In videos from years ago it is explained and shown that from early life Sebastián was a tummy sleeper and that is why one of his cheeks is a bit flatter. His opposite cheek is not inflamed and he does visit his dentist regularly. Be well ❤@franpaszkowski-hood1565
I totally agree with you. You know Sebastian better than any doctor and have seen his eye issue daily. I would have thought a doctor would have taken care to resolve this issue before now. Especially since it's has been at least a year of being swollen and red. If it was you or I with this issue, it would have been treated and healed long ago. Sebastian deserves the best of the best. You have the right as his parent to make sure he has the best doctors and treatment. You and Gio are awesome parents, so follow your gut feelings. You are a mother...i went through a similar situation with my daughter. From birth-age 1, she cried continuously i told him there was something wrong & was dimissed every time. I got accused of having an attitude but after her 1 year appt i lost it on him, switched dr's & found out she has a stomach condition she suffered with untreated. Needless to say my mommys instincts like yours, were dead on. I felt it, i knew it. Dont ignore those instincts, God gave us those 4 a reason. That angel, like mine, grew inside us. Bless Sebastian ❤ I've had 4 eye surgeries (retina detachment) within these last 10 months & a cataract surgery coming up in June. I must say, eye stuff is uncomfortable. So I can imagine the pain Sebastian is feeling without being able to tell you his pain level. 😢 Material in the eye is definitely not comfortable. I also have material holding my retina attached ( Scalar buckle) I tell my eye specialist all the time that I can feel the buckle, and it's uncomfortable, but he doesn't think it's a problem. Smh! I totally understand you Steph!!! 💯

Doctors are always supposed to offer ALL options including doing nothing if it's viable. It may not be what you choose, but it's an option nonetheless. It sounded like he is wiling to drain the stye and get a better look at what's under the eye so he has a clearer picture of what's going on. Sounds like a good plan.
Absolutely. There are many factors and options. After having a swollen eyelid for almost a year though, I do believe doing ‘nothing’ and ‘monitoring progress’ shouldn’t be an option at this point is the only thing I was trying to communicate in this video. 🩵

You’re an amazing mom for standing up for Sebastian and trusting your gut instead of letting fear of judgement or backlash keep you silent. I was also born with medical complexities due to genetic differences and without going into too much detail, letting doctors have the final say in my care/not speaking up when she had concerns is one of my mom’s biggest regrets as I am still affected by some of the consequences today. Like you said, you are his mother and you know him and his needs better than any doctor could ever hope to. It’s not like you’re ignoring the professionals by any means-I can tell that you are very meticulous in selecting each member of his medical team, listen actively and ask questions during his appointments, and consider all the information that they give you before making decisions about Sebastian’s care. But expecting you to blindly follow other people’s advice just because they have a degree is ridiculous. You have nothing to apologize for. Sebastian is happy, thriving, and achieving so much. If that’s not proof that you know what you’re doing an excellent job raising him (as well as what a sweet, smart, and strong kid he is) I don’t know what is. Also, I may not be a doctor, but letting an infection go on for that long without fixing to the root of the problem-especially when it’s causing him so much pain and discomfort-does not sit right with me either. If I was in your position I would’ve stood my ground too.

Awww Steph! I get how stressful this must be. Especially when you feel you are not being heard! In the meantime, it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion. I encourage you to do so, because I too am not convinced it's just a stye. You have seen bumps in different places on his eye lid...so something isn't adding up. Try not to stress too much... Stephanie, you are Sebastian’s advocate and you know what’s going on with your son. He has had a red eye for a very long time. The redness means it is an infection or else it would not be red. Mother usually knows best and you know what your son needs better than anyone don’t forget that. you are an amazing mother to a beautiful son, that lights up the the world with his smile and melts hearts everywhere. Now days, we all need a medical advocate. Not one that is employed by the hospital or specialized clinic. Most of us do not have any medical knowledge outside of the medicine cabinet. We don't understand what is wrong, we just know the symptoms are of something just not normal. Especially with our children or spouse. We have to do our own research. Make a consultation appointment before exams just to talk face to face. Navigating the medical community is difficult at best. But, the most important thing upfront is DO NOT let them intimidate you. You are doing great. You and your husband are on a tough journey, but a rewarding one. Y'all are doing fine. 🙏❤

Yummmmm…that breakfast looks delicious!!! ❤️ I had cancer many years ago and I fired my doctor because I didn’t like what he told me…I went home feeling hopeless and sooooo depressed. The best advice I was ever given in life was from my sister in law after my first son was born. She told me that everyone was going to advise me…do this…don’t do that, etc. She said, “Listen to all of it, and then go home and do what you think is best!!!” The same goes for you Stephanie…you are Sebastian’s mama and in your heart you know what’s best for Sebastian. ❤️❤️❤️

As mothers, we always have to go with our gut and you most definitely are doing that!! You are smart and well informed about Sebastian and his needs Stephanie. Whether someone disagrees or not, in the long run it is your and Gio's decision, period. Not all physicians are going to meet the needs of patients and that's ok 😊 that's why there are second opinions. I pray that God will have His hand in giving you and Gio guidance 🙏

I felt encouraged that the Dr. was confident and willing to do the surgery if you choose to go that path. You are his main doctor so trust your gut! Really proud of you. I raised a special needs son and it can be exhausting and scary at times but you are an incredible mother to Sebastian. Also, can we discuss how stinking cute he was at breakfast. He was in food Heaven 😂❤

As a parent. My son has no issues. When he was young I spent 1-2 days every week at the pediatrician office he had a chronic ear infections.Doctor said he will out grow them well then we kept getting strep. I said enough is enough. Took him to a ent got his tonsils and adenoids out the left tonsils was nothing but puss. You know him better than anyone. If you need to go get a second opinion no harm no fowl do what you feel is right for Sebastian. Never stop fighting for him. ♥️♥️🥰

Drs are not always right and the moment he said we can just leave it, I said to myself “but it’s irritating him! Does that not count?”. Steph use caution in using cortisone because children with Cdls have delicate kidneys! Steroids are hard on the kidneys!

I had Styes at the same exact age as Sebastian. Trust me. I had antibiotic off and on for months. Finally a Doctor decided to do the surgery (because I had it in both eyes) . You’re sooooo right that you know your Baby better than anyone else. Never feel bad about your opinion and concerns. ❤

Poor Little Guy .... Always something, Try to ease his inflammation by soaking his eye with warm green tea ... is also good for pink eye, itchy eye, minor eye irritations, ask Gio's Mom or Abuela. I think you are so right. Just watch it is not an answer to solve the problem or it would have gone away. If it was on my eye or my child’s would want it resolved. There has to be a reason why it’s staying swollen and irritated. You’re a great mom and do not want your son hurt or ill.

I'm getting the same vibes as you Stephanie...This Dr. seems to be addressing symptoms and not a permanent or long term cure. Your goal for Sebastian is clear - correct the eye issue(s) on a permanent basis so Sebastian has the best long-term outcome. Ironically, I was thinking that you really do have the experience of a Doctor and the hands on experience of a Psysician. Don't doubt your instincts - it's obvious when we see how far Sebastian has come! Oh...by the way, Sebastian is beginning to imitate what you're saying 💓 keep on Mama! You and yours are doing great! It may be a bit better because of the antibiotic.But that still doesn’t explain why it keeps happening. Or what the underlining cause is. It seems the only way is to put him under and see. I’m praying for answers 💜💜💜💜Also Stephanie, Drs are human and some are confident about their ability and some are intimidated with special-needs kids .
I’m not sure why ,I have a special-needs daughter and we’ve dealt with that our whole life until the parent says I want something to be done or checked out or whatever they’re really almost afraid to make a commitment and that Dr talked in circles like I have never heard. With that said surgeons for the most part can be very good , just not a good bed said manor .🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Only you, as his mom, knows what's best for Sebastian. My son has epilepsy and I don't always agree with his neurologist. Don't ever feel like you have to defend yourself for your thoughts. We love you and your family ❤❤❤❤

Also, how is your finger doing? It’s never easy to have an injury to your hands. I hope you find the best solution for Sebastian soon. I enjoy watching you with your sister in law. Sorry I don’t want to get involved but look in his mouth for a bad tooth- his cheek is pretty inflamed and I did mention before about eye pad washes I have to use these having thick long eyelashes- he has had this for along time another thing the way he chews on his cloth might have got caught in his teeth!

Hi! In videos from years ago it is explained and shown that from early life Sebastián was a tummy sleeper and that is why one of his cheeks is a bit flatter. His opposite cheek is not inflamed and he does visit his dentist regularly. Be well ❤@franpaszkowski-hood1565
I totally agree with you. You know Sebastian better than any doctor and have seen his eye issue daily. I would have thought a doctor would have taken care to resolve this issue before now. Especially since it's has been at least a year of being swollen and red. If it was you or I with this issue, it would have been treated and healed long ago. Sebastian deserves the best of the best. You have the right as his parent to make sure he has the best doctors and treatment. You and Gio are awesome parents, so follow your gut feelings. You are a mother...i went through a similar situation with my daughter. From birth-age 1, she cried continuously i told him there was something wrong & was dimissed every time. I got accused of having an attitude but after her 1 year appt i lost it on him, switched dr's & found out she has a stomach condition she suffered with untreated. Needless to say my mommys instincts like yours, were dead on. I felt it, i knew it. Dont ignore those instincts, God gave us those 4 a reason. That angel, like mine, grew inside us. We are connected 2 our babies. Be strong, stick 2 your guns. You ALWAYS have your sons best interests at heart. Xoxo❤❤dont give up😘
