I recently found you and I am blessed. . I have been depressed and saddened. I am a Covid nurse in NJ. Have let my gardens go for 2 yrs and my home. I do have animals and I love to bake with antique items and make antique recipes. Your videos have inspired me to get going at home and I am inspired by the tea and chinaware ( another passion) to make things nice at home again. My husband and son care for the animals and I wish to make things better for them, your show is easy , and not at all stressful, in fact very calming for me to set goals and make plans I wanted to thank you for all you do for me and others every day🙏 Lee NJ

"Oh, yes it is!" he replied, "but let's see if we can carry off that platter of scones for the children."

This video appeared on my CZcams randomly, so I watched it, being interested in teas and scones. I was so delighted to see your Old Curiosity Shoppe china pieces! My mother had some pieces of this china when I was growing up that she'd gotten at Safeway grocery store. I remember as a girl liking both the color and the pictures. Hers were long gone in the chaos of raising seven children, but years ago I began collecting Old Curiosity myself and now have quite a large collection, which we've used many times for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and other special occasions. I also have a vintage copy of the Dickens book that I display with the china. Thank you for the informative and very pleasant video!

Enjoyed sharing tea today! Your discussion about pouring cream in the tea reminded me of a story my mother often told me. She was young newly married and had never been to a tea before. She was invited to a ladies tea and dressed up but yet was nervous. As she went down the table to have her tea poured she was met with lemon slices, sugar cubes and cream. Unsure what to do, she added all three to her cup resulting in a curdled mess. She then literally looked for a potted palm to dump it into.

She hid in the bowels of a boat at age 16 and came to America to escape abuse.
She taught herself English and was fluent in Chech, Russian, Hungarian, German and French.

I’m a 75 yr old widow, and have had a most lovely breakfast along with your tea time makings. Many years ago, I lived in Sri Lanka for a couple of years, and they do most things the British way (or vay) as they would say. They put a lot of milk and sugar in their delicious Sri Lankan mountain grown black tea, and so I used to tell them... “You don’t drink tea, you drink hot sugar milk”. In the villages there, back then, they didn’t have access to fresh milk or cream, so they used a Lanka powdered milk. My family and I all grew to love it as much as we loved the Sri Lankan people. I bought a teapot, cups & saucers & bread & butter plates to use daily, and then brought those back to the U.S. as our souvenirs from our time there. Thank you for sharing your tea time with me.

Can I just say as an English woman who has family from Newlyn & Mousehole in Cornwall that clotted cream was part of my life since being a baby .... it's sublime ... don't just use it on your scones though. .. warm mince pies & clotted cream ... mmmmm ! ... chocolate gateux & clotted cream .... mmmmm ! And .... ice cream & clotted cream side by side ... are a match made in heaven !!! 🍨🍧🍦🍰..... I could go on & on ... & on ! 😉

  • @christinaheesakacowden-wut3809

Awe, I have the exact same book, The Little English Book of Tea. That is such a coincidence. As a matter of fact, I bought/ ordered this booklet in the USA, during my stay from 1991 until 1995. It is so curious, that I found my love for England, Gardens and all Victorian, my love for Teatime and classich literature, while I stayed in the US. :-) But I also have a few things in my heart, that are "all American" as well. Such as the love for quilting, the country folk art and the apple butter, the mulberry candles and potpourrie. I used to live in Kansas and Kentucky back then. Now I am back in Germany and of course my Little Book of English Teas has a special space in my bookshelf, as well as four years worth of subscribed magazines from Victoria Magazine (90s), countless English books of classical children`s and adult literature and heaps of craft books, magazines on quilting, sewing, knitting, gardens, herbs and so on.
I live in an old house, I lovingly call Rose Cottage. So nice to watch your videos and to get a glimps of your life. This is heaven to me. So great to find like minded spirits out there in the www. It is a miracle

Beautiful video Jeri! I Love the story teller in you that is a part of everything you do to the smallest of details, including our company at the table. ☺️How lovely?!!
Maybe most cultures have something similar to this Cornish cream (just guessing), growing up this was 50 years ago or so, my grandma had milk delivered by a man to our home this was raw milk, she always brought the milk to a slow boil, she said was so it would keep longer. After the boil the milk sat until it reached room temperature. On top it would make this very pretty yellow think film called nata she removed and stored it for other things. My mom would toast bread spread nata and then sprinkle what is now called raw sugar, mmm. So this brought beautiful memories of my childhood.
Jeri I really Love having tea with you, this one was extra special, much appreciated!

I have never seen frozen butter shaved ! That’s amazing! Also this year I learned about adding a teaspoon or 2 to softened butter mixed well to make perfect gravy ! My new go to- Beurre manié (French "kneaded butter") is a dough, consisting of equal parts by volume of soft butter and flour, used to thicken soups and sauces. By kneading the flour and butter together, the flour particles are coated in butter.
    PERFECTION
