nearly 40 yrs ago now but seems like last week after seeing this. Damn !!!
lesson to the young...
don't blink!!!!!!
Thanks for watching Gunner !!!!
oh, but what a life we have lived in those 40 years. l was a Senior in HS in 1978.
"Those Were the Days My Friend, we thought they'd never end!! 😧
42 years now
I shouldn’t have blinked
We had three channels on our tv & the knob broke off so we had to use a pair of needle nose pliers to change channels.
And better tv today ")
tenfeetsmall edge of the rabbit hole and the ole coat hanger for reception..
LOL. Yeah me too! Thanks for memories
LOL those were the days!
Same here. LOL..
I remember the blizzard of 78. Also remember the news talked about the concern of a colder climate and the possibility of a new ice age.
What a great time to be a kid.I was 13 in" 78".Thanks for the memories John, made my day!
Many thanks David !!!
Neat-o! you and me both, 13 (going on 14, in May) that year. Awesome! 👍🙂👍
1978... the year I was born, during a horrible snow storm in February, and the year of the all-time best horror movie EVER made... "Halloween".
I so remember that storm... I was in it :) - JB
My parents had quite a hard time getting to the hospital, they say there was 13 inches of snow, and all they had was a Mustang.
I'm happy you made it Miranda :)
Thank you!♡
And thanks for making these videos! I'm going to make my kids watch this one! :)
Hope they enjoy it... this generation needs things to explode every 5 minutes LOL
I remember all these shows. God I feel so old.
Me toooooo!!! haaa!!
Cat Peach me to
Life is out the TV. Everybody knows that
You're young. You got taste.
1978. 16 years old and in 11th grade in high school. Met and fell madly in love for the first time. I still think of him to this day. :)
My first year of middle school, such an awkward time but boy I am I ever so happy to have the memories of these 1978 days!! Love the music! Thanks for posting!!
Thank you Helen !!!!
15 years old in 78 .... I Wish I Could go back and STAY in the 70's
Me as well Mario... thanks for watching.:)
TV was free! So were people!
I remember the "Special Report" interruption about Jim Jones aired right after Saturday Night Live and how the people & I who were watching (and partying) with thought it was just another SNL skit at first. Such is life.
When I watch your videos, I love reading the comments from those before me. They seem like a legend to me when they talk about the good Ole days.
Oh I was born in 94.
LOL... believe it of not it really was :):):)
Just like '76, '78 was another great year for Television and Movies.
Jerry Brown makes me sick after all those years..
Poor you. Brown has turned the state around.
Ah, 1978. I was in second grade. My friends and I were still reenacting scenes from Star Wars in the neighborhood, and we were all looking forward to the new Superman movie with great anticipation. Mr. Potato Head and Earthquake Tower were the most fun toys in my room and later that year I would begin a never ending love affair with video games when my folks got us an Atari for Christmas. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
+InformationIsTheEdge I got my license when Superman came out... that was my first take the car out movies moment. Still remember it till this day :) Thanks for tuning in - JB
1978 was pretty cool. Never forget I was 11 years old and my Aunt Jill let me stay up late for the first time ever to watch her favorite show, Midnight Special, with her and was introduced to my future favorite rock singer, Steve Perry in Journey. Also Las Vegas at that time really did look like what people saw on Vega$. I just LOVE all of your videos, they cheer me up when I need a little visual pick me up :)
My job is complete then :) Many thanks for tuning in. All the best to you - JB
oh you can call me Ray,or you can call me Jay...…..haven't heard that in a long time.
Kids today have no idea how amazing it was to be able to record a show at home
I thought the VCR was the greatest invention ever :)
Mine does. We sometimes travel and stay in a hotel. No recording of shows, no rewinding, no pausing, no HD channels makes checking the local attractions REAL easy.
Kids now-a-days don't know what it's like not to wan't to be indoors
You can still do that if you have blank recordable CDs.
Thank you for making these videos. What's really weird is watching this and realizing how so many of those you saw on the Tube back then ended up, like Sadat being assassinated, Pete Rose being barred from baseball, etc. Sometimes you get so caught up in where you are right now that you forget where you've been, and how you lived. Like life itself, these are bitter-sweet reminders.
I was in Toledo, Ohio and Denver Colorado having the best times of my life! 1978, the best year ever!
Thanks for the post Detroit !!!
*****
You are welcome. Thank you for the memories!
I was in Royal Oak, Michigan. 5th Grade I think. The winter was awesome, and that whole year was just as spectacular................at least as I remember it.
Thanks again for the work Johnnyboy 792. Great job sir.
Thank you Chuck ! Have a wonderful holiday my friend !!!
Chuck Hayes
the Great Blizzard of '78! I remember it closed schools for us for two weeks!
Thank you so much for taking the time to compile these histories. I can't help thinking the 60's and 70's were the two best decades of the 20th century.
You're not the only one Karras :):):)
I was 13years old. What a wonderful ride it has been.
Thanks Tim !!!
Cool! 😎 that makes two of us, at the age of 13 (going on 14, in May). Awesome! 👍
I was in the 10th grade, getting high, trying to get lucky?! And loving everything about growing up in the 70's. best music of all time!
I concur Lee :)
Johnnyboy792 thanks, when I try to tell people now how life in the 70's were they think I'm bullshittin! And I just laugh at them and feel sorry they missed the best times to grow up!
Damn straight... ( said the insomniac ) LOL
Thanks so much Lee... we were a lucky generation :):):)
You are very welcome! And thank you for bringing those magical memories back! I love all of your where were you videos, but the 70's ones are my favorite! Now if you could beam me back there?!! I think I would stay!
It was a wonderful time. I saw Grease 12 times that summer.
Only Once ? LOL
I remember the "blizzard of "78" we were out of school for the entire month of January due to snow and freezing temps .I believe that winter was the one that whad the most snow and digits like 30 below zero that I can remember even now as an adult I still haven't experienced that type of weather again. Anyway "77-78" were both kick ass winters.
I remember the blizzard of '78 also. It was my senior year and we were out for 2 and half weeks there was so much snow. I've been in blizzards since, but the Blizzard of '78 was granddaddy of them all! LOL!!!
DetroitLives313 from sw. mi. it was awesome. I made sure I got my gf picked up before roads closed....good thing her parents liked me. ha.
DetroitLives313. temptations. ...forever!
You were one smart dude. My Dad and my best friend's Dad had to use a snow mobile to go and deliver food and milk to our neighbors it was so bad out.
Always and Forever ! You might remember that song from 1978 too! LOL!
I was 11 yrs old at the time !& I remember the blizzard of 78 as well ! What a storm .
A great year for sure Robert !!!
I was only five years old in 1978 but still remember some of these things, especially the TV shows. I remember being scared by the Jonestown images on TV, loved the Incredible Hulk and Battlestar Galactica, and had the time of my life during the great Blizzard of '78, when the snow piles were taller than I was! What an era to be a kid.
I'm from CT Robert... and I was right there in it :)
Good times!
GREASE DOMINATED 1978 ! Disco and Grease.
This was the year my youngest was born. To see her grow like a flash in the pan, this video seems to take me back where it all began for her. Time is the thief and it moves so quickly.
I remember all this well. I was 18 years old.
16 here :)
I was 26 and hubby was 29 and we had just bought a fixer up house in the small city, then, of Yorba Linda, California. Still fixing it up 41 years later but it is paid for. Wow, we both worked and watched movies and tv and read books and listened to music and went on vacations and danced to disco music and ballgames and our lives were never dull! America Rules !
That sounds awesome. Thanks for the share :)
Dallas was my favorite program from 1978-1987 and i remember watching Halloween at the drive in in 1979
I was 17 ,and I'm from worcester ma, and remember the blizzard of 78 very well...we didn't have school for almost a week
I was a sophomore at the time... a lot of digging for me Roberta :)
40 years ago...I would love to go back...
Wouldn't we all my friend :)
Not to sound morbid, but I just noticed the "final recount" of the people who died in Jonestown was 911 people. strange (911)
I was 6 six years old. I remember most of that, but I didn't realize how much of a memorable year that was for both television and movies. Of course, I remembered that being the year for Grease and Animal House, but I forgot about the other movies that year. What young boys could forget The Incredible Hulk and Battle Star Galactica released on television, especially on the heels of the Star Wars popularity. This was also the year that I remember the first Star Wars action figures hitting the market, which changed everything. On a more serious note, I couldn't read very well, but I was certainly fascinated with the Jim Jones tragedy being all over the news and magazines.
I was 12 in 1978 and I can remember waking up for school and the Jim Jones tragedy was all over the news .At my age I really didn't grasp it all but now I realize it was about ppl that were searching for a happy place where they felt like they belonged only find out later (if they were one of the lucky ones to get out in time) that they were living and being controlled by a psychopath.
+Judy Holiday my mom was only 9 in '78 when she and my grandparents see news of the massacre that night.seeing all those bodies had a traumatic effect on her
I turned 11 in November of that year and the biggest thing I remember was the release of Superman The Movie. My sister was into Greese. She had the
album and played it over and over all the damn day long.I got to the point I could sing every song from overhearing it in my bedroom next to hers.
It was a great time for genre T.V. Man from Atlantis, The Incredible Hulk, Battle Star Galactica and Wonder Woman were all favorites of
mine and Quicy MD was a favorite of my mother on Friday nights.
Damn, I meant Grease not Greese.
I was with my dad at the Ford dealer when he took delivery of a brand new Bronco on 4/20/78.
This was memory overload. How time flies!
Also, no Van Halen?? They released their first record in February 1978, and changed everything.
Yes! He definitely needs to do a second edition!
Oh, and my favorite song of that year, "Hold the Line" by Toto!
I remember when the head popped out of the boat underwater in Jaws, i got up out of my seat in the theater, and went screaming down the aisle to get the hell out of there. Of course i was 12...but man, embarrassing!
Man Johnny, I wish we could go back. I was in 10th grade, growing up in Massapequa, NY. I miss those days but I especially miss the people, so many people gone now.
I hear you Joe. We didn't take time to appreciate it. Thank you :)
Hey to all the 1978 high school graduates who drop in.. Happy 40th!! :)
Many thanks :)
I was 12.
My friends and I would act out Grease songs in my next door neighbors garage during the summer of ‘78 *GOOD TIMES*😁
I can picture it now :):):)
There is a dance sequence in the movie “Airplane “ that parodies “Grease” .
Oh lordy...in '78 I was 13, couldn't get enough of Grease, horses, and Halloween! Everything was all about the beach here in Florida, and life was good...
Thank you Gwen !!!!!
Ah the memories!!....I was 8 years old..All I wanted to do was watch Saturday morning cartoons...go fishing....and play football!!
Fed up with Fed Same here!!!
Schools were closed on my birthday because of that blizzard! I graduated high school and went to college in New York City--saw National Lampoon in a midtown movie theater where there was a smoking section in the balcony. Where I grew up, there was no smoking in movies, and no balconies either! Boy, I didn't know anything! Thanks for the memories.
I was 18 in 1978 and remember every bit of what's in this video.
Me too.
All are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks
+Donnie Downer Hey Thanks DD !!! More coming down the road :)
Another awesome upload sir!! Thank you for sending us back in time!! Take care.
I was 11 years old Wayne NJ living the good life. Some of the greatest movies and sitcoms. Looking back we really enjoyed life. It seems to me the new generation is never satisfied with anything. Hate to be them.
I couldn't agree more... great era for movies & TV Both !!! :)
The blizzard was awesome. I skitched during the whole thing. Must have logged 100 hours on the bumper of a UPS truck. Those were the days!
A whole week off at school... so awesome !!!
In 1978 I was right here.
I was a child in '78 and the Jim Jones massacre effected me gravely. I remember seeing all the bodies lying face down. First time I had ever heard of Guyana.
Thanks Johnny!! Happy Easter to you and yours as well!!
I actually have used a Betamax - preferred it to VHS
beta was a better picture bata was 3/4" vhs was 1/2"
very disappointed..the medical School reject me..so i had to study even harder to be in it...which i finally achieved...1978..what a year...sorry for the mistakes ...english is not my native language..
omg I remember seeing animal house for the first time, it was hysterical then and still funny today
LOVED the Disco intro!!! Wow, it brings back memories as a kid in rollerskating rinks playing disco music underneath a discoball.
+Firestepher G Many thanks Fireestepher G ! Working on 1969 soon :)
Taco talk
I was 13yrs old.......without a care in the world. Most I worried about was who was on my kick ball team. Miss those days and thank you for allowing us these great lasting memories. I can't lie watching all this makes me a bit teary eyed.
Steve Rubel predicted influencers and reality stars! Who knew! I love your videos! I laugh, I cry, I find who I am.
My dad took my brother and I to see Grease and Up in Smoke (the whole theatre smelled like pot). We were kids, but hey, it was the '70s.
I was there Yoda :)
I was 15 when Jonestown happened. I had nightmares about it for a while
These videos are AMAZING. Thank you!!
+Carols2wow Than you for watching Carol !!! - JB

Thanks Todd :):):)
Thank you so much brought back a lot of great memories!!
+Tommy Buchan And thank you for watching Tommy !!! - JB
I graduated high school and built my 69 Firebird for Drag Racing working minimum wage. Good premium gas was 75 cents a gallon. Fun times. Disco was not my thing ever. Real Rock like Aerosmith, Boston, Head East, Stones, Steve Miller, Kiss, Ted Nugent, and a new band, Van Halen to name a few. This old farm boy wasn't all country in those days. Still ain't.
LOL Thanks for tuning in !
HEAD EAST! Haven't thought of them in YEARS. Well, off to Google Play for me...
Down the rabbit hole ya go!
I was 7. I remember listening to "Double Vision" by Foreigner on my brother's 8 Track. The same brother bought me my first record....Van Halen. I played the hell out of that album. Definitely started things out as a rocker for sure. Still am!!
Based on the year "Animal House" was taking place in from the year it was made, if they made it today, they'd be going to college in the year 2000.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I know it took a lot of time. Thanks Johonnyboy
I actually have some little memory of this year, I was 5 and loved Andy Gibb ❤️
+Tammy B Yup he was all the rage that year Tammy :)

Hi Shereen ! Thanks so much for tuning in. More coming down the road :) JB
This was great! I turned 10 in 1978 and still regard it as one of the best years of my entire life.
Thanks K2 !
I was 16. My mother got me a cassette of Grease soundtrack as one of my Christmas presents:) I also got a small, handheld radio (Norelco?) anyway, I had so much enjoyment from that little thing that I carried with me everywhere! Used to really like the Nancy Drew shows... I remember "Ready to Take a Chance Again" (Barry Manilow) was so pretty, from the movie "Foul Play," Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase. I had a total crush on Andy Gibb with the Shadow Dancing song, and oh my God, I thought I would die if I couldn't meet Robby Benson (saw him in t.v. version of "Our Town" that June) and they came out with "Ice Castles" movie in December. Loved "Have you Never Been Mellow," "Time Passages" (Al Stewart) and Y.M.C.A. songs.
Holy Cow!!!! The Anhauser Busch Natural Light Commercial,"You can call me Ray"... Classic!!!!
Brilliant Editing. You Are a true ARTIST!!!! Thanks for the memories!!!!

Ha! Watched Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys....had poster of Shaun Cassidy on my wall, until Nadia won the Olympics in 76, down came Cassidy & up went Nadia. I started watching these because I dreamed I was in the house I grew up in...but other than Dallas, I see TV shows I wasn't allowed to watch & music I had no idea was so old.
I'd rather be young then than now
Thanks Tyler :)
Jeeeez!! It's ridiculous how much of this I clearly remember. And I was 9 back then!!!!!
Man...amazing. :O
