I look forward to scotty. Haha
Scotty, I ain’t ever really write anything on CZcams, but I wanted to hop on here and tell you that you are such a big influence in my car life. Whenever people ask me how I know what I know about vehicles, I always say “I ain’t ever had no daddy in my life but thank god I had Scotty’s videos!” And I still say that to this day. I’ve been watching you since I was in highschool and I’m 24 now. I would never no the things I know now if it wasn’t for all your amazing and educational videos on cars. You’re truly a gem in the stone, Scotty! God bless ya
Yeah I agree with you. I wish I lived in the same city as Scotty. I wouldn't have no second thoughts about using and paying him to be my mechanic. But unfortunately I'm in South Florida and I think Scotty is in Tennessee?
I presently drive a 2000 Toyota Camry. It runs and handles perfectly. But it's got 200, 158 miles on it. The Check engine light has been on for the past 16 months. Bought it to 2 different mechanics and they kinda ripped me off. One guy said it was an pollution control thing. And he did fix it though. The light went off for 280 dollars. But A week later it came back on. Bought it to another guy and he couldn't or didn't wanna deal with it. But the car runs the same whether the light is on or not. So I just leave it alone and drive it! I only paid 1500 for it 5 years ago. It had around 150,000 miles on it when I got it. But I just keep the oil up to date and drive! But I really hate looking at that yellow engine light!
Peace.
I don't know what to tell yall people. This man is the best of the best honest mechanic out there!

Scotty - not sure if you read the comments but THANK YOU for all the videos. I’ve used a few dozen of your videos to save money maintaining and fixing my Toyota Corolla and Tacoma. Cannot thank you enough for the knowledge you shared !

I don't comment much but wanted to thank you Scotty for all the work and dedication you have.
You know you are one of the biggest reasons I went into the automotive field because I saw just how outrageous the prices of mechanics were and thought why so I decided I wanted to fix it and have a shop that has good prices and that would help people and help them learn how to stop big problems from happening and how to do basic maintenance thank you for all you have taught me Scotty
Scotty, settle down! You're not going to stop doing videos. Just take a break and come back fresh.
Hope this SK never comes back! Period! A waste of space on YT

The guy is honest and if he decided to never make another video again and just relax, well we owe it to him as an audience to not bother him. He has given a lot to the auto community and we appreciate him for all the knowledge, he has had a long run. If this is the end of the road for him then we bid him good luck, long life, good health and Godspeed in his next phase. He leaves a legend.
My husband and I really enjoy your videos. We find them extremely informative and also entertaining. Like another viewer commented about taking time off, that is what you should do and regenerate yourself. You definitely need to make time for yourself and do what you need to do to put yourself first. Your dedicated fans will be here when you come back. Sorry to inform you, but EVs are here to stay my guy.
@@rnapol3266 We'll see about that.
We need to change urban mobility, our greenhouse gas emissions, and our massive resource consumption. I'm thinking small, zippy things to get people around Cities. That last 1-5 Miles. But I think you're correct in a way you probably don't realise. A 4 ton SUV to replace a Chevy Tahoe is not lowering our impact on the Earths Climate or limited resources. We need to think differently.
Hopefully!!
My man has been uploading daily videos for quite some time now. That shows pure dedication.
Scotty just take a well deserved vacation. But don't stop doing what you love. It could be hazardous to your health. 😊
I went from knowing zero things about cars to being able to DIY my car. And its all cuz of scotty. He is truly americas uncle.
He’s sure educated me. But, I’m so bad with my hands I can’t diy at all. I usually screw things up worse.
I don’t want to see you go Scotty cause you’re the best😢
I agree.
I cried through this whole video. I'm not stable.
In 2011 I bought a 1996 Buick Regal with a 3.8 engine. (I agree with you about the 3.8 engines. One of the best engines produced.) That Regal lasted me 11 years. It would have been longer but a deer decided differently plus you can't find body parts to replace on it. I now own a 2003 Buick LeSabre Custom with a 3.8. I have regular maintenance done on her, (as I did with my Regal), and I absolutely love my LeSabre!! As long as I can purchase an older LeSabre, then I'm a happy girl!!
For the person who wants to buy a PCV. Don't go to Auto Zone, or some other place. I went and bought mine at the dealer. It cost me $6.00 with tax $7.35. I went to a mechanic like Scotty (honest and knew what he was doing) he put it in. Cost $10.00, no Tax. So for $17.35 I got a PCV put in and my car is going on 2,000 miles. Because my car is a 04, I change my oil every 3,000 miles. So I got 1,000 miles to go. It runs like new. Yeah, it has some noises but nothing like what I hear (neighbors vehicles EV'S/Frozen in time!
1988 I turned 16. I started with a hand me down beater Chrysler. About a year later I bought a 1985 GMC S-15 4 cylinder, 4 speed manual transmission truck. I'm 51 now and that truck was the best vehicle I have ever owned. I was 29 when It finally went belly up. I drove that truck from Cincinnati to Phoenix 3 times without any problems. From Cincy to Florida handful of times. Drove to Tennessee countless times to my Grandparents. But I faithful did the tune ups myself, change clutch myself. Easy to maintain myself. I did have to get new transmission one time. Best vehicle I have ever had. When I was 25 a classmate passed away. At funeral there were many classmates and could not believe I was still driving that truck from highschool. It was a great truck.
Just found out I can increase the video play back speed, it's great All I see is hands flying all over! Love the video, by far my favorite channel ever
The story about Scotty's customer's car is hilarious!
Scotty i have been watching your videos for the past 72 hours and now know more about cars than i ever had. Thanks to you i now feel more confident to maintain my next car and address issues before they get bigger. Thank you!
Would you ever consider writing a summary of the good and bad years per manufacturers
Things to look for and things to avoid .
Example: Year ? Toyota Camry __ 3.0 V 6
Regular fuel injection ( Not direct )
NO VVT
NO TURBO
REGULAR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
Or maybe just years to be cautious of .
Thanks , REALLY LOVE your show !
That would really be great as I have a Honda Civic 2014 and the CVT transmission makes me nervous. It has 72000 miles on it. Transmission fluid and filter changed every 30,000. Oil and filter changed every 7,000 miles
The mileage on that Buick Lesabre is mind blowing. It’s like a museum at that old with so little miles.
I just bought a 2002 avalanche 40k on it a time capsule California car no rust anywhere
@@backroadscamaro541 The Avalanche is definitely a time capsule. It was only around for 10 years and it certainly embodies the more ridiculous parts of that decade. Pure 2000s!

Oh, Scotty, settle down and do your thing. You are irreplaceable! And you are loved, by God And by Man!
Just had a mobile mechanic service come to my house and they worked on my car $350 labor and $350 parts for my 2007 Honda Pilot and replaced the power steering pump, and hoses. And the fluid reservoir and the serpentine belt and drive belt tensioner and drained out the flushed and flushed it out and refilled it and got air out of the system. And now it’s like brand new and I’m at 267,000 miles now and I’ve owned it 4 years and bought it with 196,000 miles December 2019 and I haven’t had a car payment for 4 years so far and low car insurance rates. Don’t let people rip you off at the dealer or mechanic shop. And you learn more about your car what’s wrong with it and buy your own parts so you don’t get ripped off or scammed
My 12' acura mdx has a P301, P303 code reading and i changed the plugs and coils.
Scotty....beam yourself up to a restful vacation and recharge. You've done sooo much for sooo many people, including me. You have made a difference in the world and I thank you for every nugget of wisdom you have passed on to me over the years.
Whats best parts for nissan versa that arent genuine nissan parts? I need new plugs ignition coils and fuel injectors 160.000 miles 2015.
Hey Scotty. Why is my car burning oil ? It only has 600,000 miles. 😂😂😂
Have you tried changing the tyres?
This is perfect!

Sending Good vibes ✨️ 🙏🏽 ✨️Scotty.
I love my 2014 Corolla. Bought it with 72k miles now it has 248k. Very little maintenance. I change the oil every 5k like Scotty says and it's a smooooth ride. Love that car
On the buick with low miles if that has the 3.8 series 2 motor then you might want to get the upper platinum changed. Where the EGR valve is that connection is made with a crappy plastic and it will blow threw and fill the pistons full of anti freeze. If it blows you will think the motor is locked up but it isn't.
Blow the antifreeze out with a new platinum and you will be back on the road.
I would suggest getting a platinum for a monte carlo because it has metal sleeve and won't ever blow threw again.
Guess how I know about this issues lol Yep went thru it all before.
oh....not you.
I am taking you advice on how to make our 2002 Camry last a long time. We are hardly driving it. I am doing better than the Buick owner, because it only has 49,000 miles on it. It loves sleeping in the garage and only taken out on sunny days, driven 10 miles, and then put back to bed. A few times a year it gets to go for a longer ride. The clear coat is still in perfect condition. I change the oil every year and recently changed the antifreeze for the second time. I tried your draining power steering and brake reservoir trick, but still don't know how that will work with the brakes since brake fluid doesn't circulate.
Put new plug is my 1.8L Corolla after 70K. OEM and all that. I had to up the octane to calm it down. :) Just saying, 100K plugs might need to be replaced early. Sort of a pain if you are used to old style with the shared coil but very satisfying results with my little Corolla. I'm old, I dumped all my rigs. Baby toy still runs like new.
I checked the coolant in my 2001 Tacoma and the radiator cap broke taking it off.
Easy $10 fix but still, like Scotty says old stuff can break if you start messing with it.
Scotty, my car is a 2007 Ford Taurus, and it has had its problems over the years. It has 80.000 miles on it, and I've had routine maintenance done on it as well as new parts. How much do I need to drive the older car to keep it functionally optimally? Is there a certain amount of miles that I should drive it to keep it alive (i'm retired).
Scotty just take care of yourself and take a little break to recharge your mind battery 🔋 😎💚✌️🙏🏝🚘
Before you go bro, please explain codes 7E8 in a detail video please 🙏
Scotty….. I have a 2021 Mazda CX 30 . The owners manual say to put 4.9 qts of oil and I usually put 5qts. I noticed that oil level only reaches about 40% from min to max mark on dip stick . Usually on other cars the recommended oil amount usually reaches close to the max mark. Which is right….. owners manual or dip stick? I also noticed videos of others with same car doing oil change says same thing about the dip stick reading.
Scotty - I'm big fan, however I'm sure you didn't read comment the last you had not so positive things to say about the GM Diesels and I completely agree " IF " - the Duramax was a GM diesel, however again ...... all due respect ............ As I mentioned b4 since 2000 GM 2500 and above are Isuzu Diesels which have a reliability track record second to none .... I've seen gen set Isuzu diesel 4 cylinder and in line six run for 400 hours and have friends with GM Isuzu Diesel V 6 6.7-liter 400 k miles still running strong.
Hey Scotty, we love you! especially in our Toyota.

I got lucky at an auto auction. They let me test drive a mustang GT that I wanted. It ran fine, sounded good, so I bought it. 4 years ago!!
Scotty, apparently Chevy is having a crank no start issue. I wasn't sure which trucks were affected, so I did a simple search on you tube. Looks like this has been going on for years. Like a rock.
Does that year LeSabre have the bad model water pump. I had one close to that model year and the water pump went reliably about every 60k. Just shut her off and put in a new one. It would blow all at once. Anyway it was fine, just a water pump every 60k. Wondering how/when they fixed that? What the deal was.

The Tesla recall was because the NHTSA said there wasn't enough notice to make sure people knew they enabled AP and more notice when they may not be paying attention when in AP. So yeah, software to improve the notifications. Not like Ford, Hyundai, and others recalls for fires and aystem shutdowns that software won't fix.
Just realized Scotty uses Left 4 dead music at the end of his videos 😂
An electronic car is more like a computerized power source with electronic mortars. Over the air software updates can improve your car over time.
Not if it has a hardware problem and that's Scotty's point.
For example the high performance model Ford Mustang EV was melting wires in the controller. Ford's solution? Software update to reduce power so it won't melt anymore, therefore screwing the customer who paid for the high performance.

Who knows what causes a fluttering sound when accelerating in aygo or yaris. Occurs only whilst pressing the accelerator when driving it does not happen if you rev the car in neutral.
thats why a module is better than individual coils
Scotty,
That 2000 Corolla has bad oil control rings. A PCV valve won't solve the issue. Those rings plagued that generation of Corollas.
I'd get an original toyota PCV valve, and change that grommet while you're doing it. They are only a few dollars more than the crap you will find at the auto store, and will work longer.
Or valve guides.
