That is especially if they are sifting through American dirt. It is a multi-multi million dollar expense just to get PERMISSION to mine & that takes 10 yrs. That is why as of my last reading there is only 1 operational lithium mine in the whole U.S. Between the government & the environment for profit Corporations Americans are pretty safe in betting that we'll be getting our REE's from some place else for quite a while.

Costco changed its policy about tire installation in Canada last summer, they used to charge for it and I had a quote from them for a set of BFG TA KO2 just before they did. I ended buying them online and had them installed at Costco. Two weeks later, I had a blowout on the highway as I drove over an overpass with a huge pothole because our roads are so poor here in Quebec.
Despite not being covered "officially" against road hazards, I managed to have it covered by Michelin. So I ordered the replacement tire at Costco and had it installed under their new policy as they had changed just a few days before. It ended being cheaper than from the discount website and they do offer a hazard warranty (which is very useful, even with brand new LT tires here).

The EPA itself caused that huge shitstorm. then refused to pay damages to any of the farmers, tribes, state departments of fish & wildlife that were effected by this spill.

The main reason China's leading on stuff like this is because they don't care if they poison a million acres for a thousand years to dredge stuff up, cook it down, etc. The reason First World countries buy rare earths from China and coltan from the Congo is largely because we wouldn't want the consequences of mining and processing it cheaply here. IDEALLY, we don't sh!t where we eat. Ideally. Not that it's so great to make someone else live like that, but so it goes.

Why does that surprise you? There are no EV tow trucks built yet. Be real. EV don't break down on the road more than Petrol (ICE) vehicles---that is a myth. EVs don't catch on fire more than Petrol ( ICE) vehicles. Facts and real statistics tell the real truth. Sorry, I like Scotty, but he is biased and anti EV here. Why wouldn't he be? He is a petrol mechanic and biased. I live in Southern Ca. Know lots of people with EV, including my neighbors and they love their EVs. I have a friend who has a model S by tesla one of the first one produced and it still has 95 percent of its battery life that he bought in 2012. It is still in perfect condition. He has only had to change the tires, windshield wipers since he has owned it. Even better, he gets to use tesla chargers for free as long as he owns this vehicle taking advantage of that program Tesla offered with the purchase of the early model S. Do a head to head comparison with the actual cost of owning and operating an Ev and compare it to owning a petrol vehicle. Ev cost less to own and operate over time than gas vehicles. Facts speak louder than Scotty's anti Ev opinions.

The waiting at Costco is just the tip of their problem. I have used them a few times, to mostly good results, but only in the cases where I had no tire issues. The worst problem is when you have a flat or a tire that is beyond repair, is getting another tire that matches what you have. The delivery time on waiting for your correct tire can be extreme to not even getting you back the right tire bc it is now not one they have access to. Except that many SUVs are classified by the state[s] as a B Truck. Illinois puts this on the license plates. Of SUVs. So, there is a semantical argument to be made between "technically," "practically," and "legally." I would say that I prefer the "practical" argument of: does it have an actual frame underneath? If so, it's *practically* a truck, example: Ford Explorer from early 90s to 2010. It is not technically a truck, but practically and legally, it is. For BMW, I have no idea if their early SUVs had actual frames or not.
As an aside, IMHO, a 90s/00s Explorer is more of a real truck than the new Mavericks, because FRAME. 👌

My local Les Swab sucks. They are always trying to scare you and tell you your brakes are low and need to be replaced when well within spec and lie about how much material is left. Then if they replace your brakes they will always replace your calipers too (big money, probably damaging the hose line). Cannot sync low tire monitors. Over inflate your tires +5 PSI telling you there's uneven tread wear to get better handling, only mentioning it if you ask why PSI is so high. Floor attendant gets pissed and flexes up for a fist fight to an old woman with a cane when she wanted to withdraw her vehicle before work had started because it was taking a long time. Buy the tires, but don't let them touch the vehicle.

Hey Scotty, my dad's 1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88 royal brougham had the coolant cap blown off and caused it to overheat and shut down the engine. When it cooled down, it was able to drive home while stopping often to check and fill coolant. We planned to replace the head gasket, but we didn't have the time or money as it happened in early 2020 during the start of the pandemic. It has sat tarped up for 4 years... Do you think it's salvageable, and what should be checked out first?

That picture that you showed when you were saying, "If you want to speed go to Montana where there are not any people and no speed limits." I reminded me of US-395 in south-eastern Oregon. The road is straight as an arrow and flat, and I was the only driver on it. Problem was the speed limit was still 55. I think Oregon was about the last state to raise the speed limit, like thirty years after the oil embargo. Ironically, the cars that I did see were an antique car club on an outing. Some were Model Ts that probably could not go 55 mph. P.S. Oregon drivers were allowed to finally pump their own gas last year. At least they beat New Jersey, which still does not allow self-service.

The governor of Oregon had to do an EO to get the self-pump in place. Voters turned it down each time it was on the ballot. Long timer Oregonians didn't want it. Still don't. They are starting out with 50-50 on self serve and full service, just like CA did. Eventually, full service will go away. I don't like pumping my own gas, and I will use full service for as long as it is here. It won't make gas cheaper. It will put people out of jobs.

I would think that some of the towing companies would get a huge diesel powered generator on a trailer that they can pull out to charge the EV'S enough to get them to a regular charging station. I have been told that when the battery is dead, they can't be pulled on to a rollback? I am not sure how true that is. I personally think that a good hibird system makes way more sence than a totally electric vehicle. I am interested to see how the Edison motors hibird big trucks do as they seem to be the only company playing around with that concept at this point.

It has nothing to do with the electronics themselves it's because they put the type r cap on the greaser for the steering pinion on regular civics. This makes it too tight so it will l lose oil and make a clunky.
I don't know why Scotty has this information wrong but it does have to do with the electronic steering but not as the electronics or software.
