- Installing the trac spec functional hood louvers on my 1985 Iroc-Z Camaro. These will definitely lower under hood temps and add another level of attitude. Very happy with the fit and function of this mod. No more overheating in traffic with AC blasting on any 3rd gen camaro. Functional hood louvers.

I just got some of these for my recent 84 sport coupe project. It’s a flat v6 hood so should be fun but the supports underneath are shaped like the z28 hood Louvers .
Your car is absolutely awesome man. The look and the sound….you nailed it.
Thanks Man it's finally coming together after years of hard work.
Gorgeous car. I just picked up one myself and I can't wait to make it as nice as yours.
Congrats on the new 3rd gen these are fun cars to do mods with.
Great video man, I just did mine it was a great help
Just came across your channel. Cleanest 3rd gen I've seen! Those hood louvers were a good decision aesthetically and functionally.
Thank you I'm definitely happy with the mod. Looks good and performs even better.
One of my favorite mods!!!
Yeah it's a great mod. Definitely adds another level to the car. I've been eyeing the hawks 5inch spoiler too.
Very good step by step instructions. Looks nice.
Thank you. Definitely happy with the end result.
Nice install. I'm planning on doing this before my car goes to paint, just to avoid the stress of messing up the paint
Thanks yeah it would definitely be less stressful doing it before paint.
Great job on the installation. The vents look sharp.
Nice choice on the wheels of your IROC as well. I'm running those exact wheels on my C10 but I changed up the color scheme.
Thanks yeah the install turned out nice very happy with them.
@@Brandon-LSX Are they Z06 wheels?
Those look great! I was planning on doing that to my Iroc but, ended up selling it to a friend. No time to “play” Lol. Your car is perfect. Keep it up.
Thanks dude appreciate it. You just might have to buy it back from your friend someday lol
@@Brandon-LSX Lol, that is why I sold it to him. That was my plan when I sold it, to know that it was in good hands and know where it was. He also helped me build it. Started out as a street car but, became more drag car. Was planning a LS2 402 with a 6-speed. Bigger brakes, Weld S77 wheels. Put the stock hood back on with the hood louvers like you have. Etc, etc. Again props on your car.
Awesome video, love the car!
Thanks.
Love it! I plan on getting a new hood and doing the same🤝🏁
It's definitely worth it. Nothing like functional louvers.
Nothing better than turning a fake hot rod mod into a real one! I never knew the IROC Z's hood louvers were fake.
The Camaro looks realy great and the new wents too 😎👍 The gen 3 Camaro should look like that in the first place 👍😎
Love that paint great camaro
Thanks
Sorry To Hear Of Ur Father Passing, brother keep your head up!
Blessing be with you and your family!!
Thank you I truly appreciate that.
@@Brandon-LSX
Yes sir!!
I know a loved 1 passing Hurts.I recently lost a good friend of mine I've known him for more than 15 yrs, we were in the Military together.
He just passed last week..
I'm thinking about doing the hood vents.
I have a 1984 Chevy Caprice 2 door with LM7 5.3 .20 bored with the LSA supercharger on top just like fireball mullet just with ZL1 lid. (Not installed yet, working on stiffening stock frame)
I'm thinking of going to the junkyard and cutting vents off the iroc and grafting into my hood, because I like how they sit on fireball's mullets car. Right there on both sides of the supercharger lid to get rid of a lot of heat..
@@pucegtr Sorry to hear that too Man.
@@pucegtr Yeah the cool thing about the trac specs is there designed to fit flush on non Iroc hood. You actually get more clearance using them on a rs hood.
Beautiful Camaro on mine I didn't cut that much I made holes under the vents so engine didn't get to cold just enough to keep temp a bit low I did that cut like u did once n my engine wouldn't heat up
i just installed the Morrow Motorsports functional louvers on my red 85. I'm digging them. it was hectic cutting into brand-new paint though......
Nice! yeah I'm definitely digging this upgrade it looks and functions awesome. 👌 It is definitely hectic cutting up your perfectly good hood lol.
Great stuff man I'm still here with you sorry about your dad.
@@lateroc2955 Thank you and I truly appreciate that man.
@@Brandon-LSX Anytime brother us third gen guys gotta stick together.
The car looks great. The hood vents look awesome. Want to get a set for my 87 IROC. What headlights are installed in your car.
Love it! Does the new louvers come with the mesh to reduce the amount of rain going in???
Looks great! However...how did you address the cutouts (holes) in the hood insulator? What's holding up the open areas?
Thanks.
This is one Generation I had barely any head room when I test drove them. So I bought a 87 Grand Nat’l instead. BUT I still have my 70 Z28.
What happens when you get caught in the rain?
Looks great. Too bad it is lower than the stock set though. Nice work!
Thanks ya I imagine they make it like that so people can install into a flat non iroc hood.
I am 1 hour South of the twin cities.
I have an '84 Z-28 but I have the '85 hood on it with provisions for the fake louvers.
I'm running a 406 CID SBC in it.
That engine makes lots of heat even with the triple fans and aluminum radiator.
These should work perfect for me.
How do you keep water from coming through the louvers and getting everything wet.
How much are these and where did you get them??
Will definitely help keep in cool. I'm running dual spal fans with a aluminum 3 row. Only runs hot with AC blasting in stop in go. Shouldn't be a issue now.
Would the eng get wet when you wash the car?
Very tidy.
What would be must do mods on a 1989 IROC-Z ?
Handling, stopping and finally some HP that's the recipe!
Cool car I know this off topic but we're you able to feel difference in power after installing the 4 inch cat back?
I definitely felt some on the top end. My single 3in was choking it out at higher rpms.
Would love to see someone without the indented louvers did. I’ve got a ‘91 RS. No indented hood but under the hood there is indented spots for louvers.
The track spec hood louvers can be installed on flat hoods to. Will just take extra time measuring before cutting.
Here’s what the hood looks like. You’d think you could do it from the under side then. czcams.com/video/aLOgqyEfxWA/video.html
How did the temp change after the installation of the vents!? Did it actually work?
Yeah it worked great. Drops the temps by 15-20 degrees couldn't be happier specially since I move back to AZ going to need it.
You have a magnificent hand……,😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Thanks.
Do the instructions give you measurements for hoods without fake hood blisters?
I can't remember. I don't recall seeing them though.
Off topic but where did you get your black radiator hold down
Hawk's
What’s a dolly? It’s that something padded you use to not damaged paint while hammering?
Hammer and dolley is a body working tool.
I am still learning about cars but is there no concern for rain like when you're parked at a restaurant?
Not worried about it. I don't drive this car in the rain.
This may be a very dumb question but I've never had a reason to know, but couldn't rain cause issues with some of the components under the hood by being completely open?
I never drive my car in the rain so won't be a issue. In the case I do get caught in a rain storm it shouldn't be a issue. Cars electrical connectors are water proof and if you moving water will bounce right off the fins.
@@Brandon-LSX yeah figures as much. Mine is my daily driver and I live in Texas so its an apparent issue to me. I've had a few people over the times say to avoid water in the engine bay as much as possible so I never really new for sure 😂
@@Brandon-LSX You can just lay a magnetic mat over it matched to the cars paint color if its raining
Way off topic. Anyone can tell me which seat belt is longer? The driver or passenger? Im talking about the part thats bolted to the floor near the console
Not sure man.
How do you drive it on a rainy day without water getting into engine bay.
Do you drive yours on a rainy day? I probably wouldn’t.
I love this modification! I have an 84 Z28. I like mods that are functional. I may do this someday, idk. Mine is completely original with 6,500 miles on it. I'd love to do away with that nasty under hood insulation. New subscriber. Sorry about your dad.
Thank you for the support appreciate it. This would be a tough mod to do on a all original beauty. Maybe buy a extra hood and use that and keep the original.
Looks badass bro u should put in the strip kit on the body it would make it look awesome
Thanks I have the strip kit but just can't seem to do it lol. I'm still on the fence about the strips. I personally think it looks cleaner without but also want to keep the stock appearance.
What about getting stuck in the rain. Is that a problem?
Shouldn't be a issue but time will tell I guess. I almost never drive in the rain though.
Detroit speed made a nifty pan under the Louvers.
What about when it rains?
Shouldn't be a issue the way it's angled if you're moving it would bounce right off. I don't drive my car in the rain either.
Can you driving it in the rain still?
Ya I don't see why you couldn't specially if you're moving.
Not really, moving or not, you are still going to get water in there. And not that water is an immediate problem, but it will attract dirt and make a mess, plus the obvious issues with electrical stuff under the hood. For a weekend fair-weather cruiser like this, the mod is good…. But not for a daily driver or something that isn’t garage kept
I hate that they put their logo on the top of it kinda ruins it for me but i love your car I have a 87
Thanks yeah I know what you mean my ocd needs things symmetrical at least.
CAN I BUY YOUR STOCK LOOVERS…..
Sold on ebay sorry.
❤🌹 God bless you 🙏🙏!!! Easy video ranking > Promo>SM !
So now it's a car definitely NOT for rainy days :( Hope you don't go to car shows or trips with it and you get rain.
For the love of God, stop talking with your hands, its distracting
That's just Me.
