I couldn’t agree more with both statements above but I totally get where you’re coming from, Joel. I’m guilty of obsessing on something small and before I know it, it has festered in my brain to something much bigger than it really is. It’s easier said than done, believe me, I know and get it all to well, but just focus on you and what makes you happy. Remember, 99.5% of us lead an ordinary life and just enjoy watching you lead yours, too. I get the wackos though, and it’s hard to ignore the negative Nellie’s, but at the end of the day it’s your channel, you do you and if they don’t like, they can leave but if they don’t, you have the power to force them out. Think of your channel as your home, if they don’t like it or are rude, you can show them the door. Be well, Joel, I enjoy your content, and don’t even think twice about it’s been a week, where’s Joel? I see you pop up on my list and smile. I like the short videos and long livestreams. I’m not picky, I just enjoy the content.

Your life is fascinating! It might seem boring to you but not to us 🤗
I am a professional gardener and what you should plant underneath that one tree and also for a border is the flower called impatience, and in England you call it Busy Lizzy's. They come in different shades of pink and purple also red and orange and white. I usually go with the light pink sometimes I do the purple. Don't mix all the colors or it will look like a clown show. They will thrive in your climate because they like cool temperatures and damp weather and rain. They could be planted in sun or shade or part shade. They spread very nicely on the borders and in flower beds and they are very uniform and keep their shape and they only grow about 6 to 8 inches tall and require no maintenance. They will also Bloom through the entire spring and summer and most of the Fall and they get tons of flowers and Bloom every single day. So get them planted this week❤

Joel, YOU DO YOU! If you try to please everyone and if someone doesn’t like a particular vlog or takes offense at it then they themselves are way too sensitive. Sometimes what we do in life gets old and we need a change…no harm, no foul and you have to do what makes YOU happy. I love your videos, I love seeing what you do even when it’s just plain old “boring” things like daily runs to DD or walks with the pups or bigger excursions when you visit a different area in England or anywhere else. It’s just like visiting with a friend and friends can’t always be doing exciting things cuz we are all real people and life isn’t just one party after another…most of us don’t have that kind of money or time!! I love any video you put out!! Seriously! Let the easily offended go someplace else….let it go and ignore them. I’ve learned letting go of things is very healthy and very important. Enjoy what you do and if you don’t enjoy it paint a new picture for yourself and jump in! I would certainly miss you that is the truth!!! ❤❤😊😊. P.S. Over here in the U.S., we LOVE watching you shop. That's a major American pastime: shopping. We like seeing what's available, the prices, the comparisons to what you can find at an American Home Depot compared to what looked like a comparatively small store called B & Q. If your vlog centers around nothing but shopping and eating, you'll definitely grab a bunch of Americans.
So would that still interest you even if you don't have those stores in the US? Costco is great because its in both countries, but I've considered doing Home Bargains or B&Q or B&M but figured maybe the Americans wouldn't watch!
As an American, we are curious about your shops, even when we don't have the same store. Maybe we are just nosy?

Your vlogs are always interesting Joel regardless of what you're doing. Their like putting on a cozy sweater. You don't have to change a thing 🥰
I'd be tempted to get rid of the grass in the front and plant Buxus balls and evergreen shrubs, Hebes for example which also flower. Getting the lawnmower out for such a small piece of lawn every week during the summer puts you off cutting it. Hebe and Buxus will grow in any facing aspect, North to South. Roses don't like shade, so you may struggle with that one under a tree.

Hey Joel, I'm a landscape architect, in the US. The least fussy or demanding planting design, but fantastic results, is to first clear the invasive vines, tree roots, etc. Bring your shrubbery out to view. Then, (2) de-weed the turf, get it healthy and lush. Irish green And(3), set out some flower pots (with drainage holes in the bottom) in locations that pattern a nice look to the front garden (choose size, color, location of each pot). Then (4,) plant the pots! Go annual flowers, not perennial, and style the arrangement to your desire (look up arrangements for your region, get the plants/flowers you like), Then (5), change some pots out for fall planting (replace with cabbage in pots, etc ). Then at winter's door, dump the pots out and pull them inside for the winter. So in a nutshell, remove invasive growth, stabilize the turf, and design/plant your potted florals every spring. Keep front garden notes to review in the next cycle of spring planting into fall. It will look professional, and well cared for. You will smile every time you observe it.

Love watching you work in the garden. I know about weeds taking over. I just had my hip replaced and my garden beds were not tended to. It is a lot more work now after I let them go for a couple of years.
Just an idea. Your Mom has a very nice garden. Maybe ask her to root you some her plants for your front garden. Many plants can be separated or can be rooted by putting a heavy rock on a branch. Also may I suggest: Next trip to B&Q get about 6 bags of mulch for the beds and also a cordless string grass trimmer would be handy for the yard. It can be used for tall grass and for edging along the pavement and the edge of plant beds.
I completely understand how the few can take the fun out of posting. It actually is fun virtually hanging with this sweet person it feels like I know. Despite that, take care of yourself. You are the only you. There are no replacements.

I, personally much prefer this sort of video vss the shorter, instagram style. I just read Joe Malick's reply and I agree with him 100%. The "everyday" type video is great, makes us (me) feel almost like you're chatting to a family member, so just take us along - even when you weed the garden. You made it look 100% better. This video today was perfect!

You will find your content. Whatever it is, it will be something you enjoy doing. You do what makes you happy. I enjoy watching anything: gardening, relationship, holiday, dogs, walks, houses, shopping, exercise, etc.
First of all, you’re a great content creator and don’t listen middle trolls and idiots to tell you otherwise secondly, you have to deal with best for your mental health so you do what you need to do for you and know your bugs are not boring. I actually can enjoy them anyways, just thought you should know
I love your long vlogs and during the pandemic, they saved me. I would put one of your almost hour long vlogs on and you would be in the kitchen along side me while i cooked. I absolutely hate cooking. I get anxious and it stresses me out, but you got me throught it. I had favorite vlogs, but i played all of them several times for over 12 months.
I think people today have short attention spans and need to be constantly "entertained". The simplicity of life is lost to many. I have fallen to it several times. When i realize nothing is satisfying anymore and i get sucked into CZcams shorts for entertainment (terrible on attention spans), i know i have over consumed. I put my phone away and find other calming entertainment. I go outside and listen to nature or watch an ant find or carry food, watch the squirrels play or tease my dog from the tree. It's quite funny sometimes. Simple entertainment.

Low maintenance vs high maintenance garden. My suggestion would be. Your main gardening area where you cut your grass in this video should be low maintenance. Add a section with a large planter box or pots where you can do high maintenance stuff. This would give you an opportunity to try out different plants and see what you like or don't like. Also gives you an opportunity to see how much effort you want to put into gardening. That way if you figure out you don't like high maintenance, just get rid of that portion and continue enjoying the low maintenance. As part of your low maintenance garden, as a rosemary bush. Great fragrance, you could shape it like a shrub, and you can snip some for food, when winter comes you can cut branches to decorate your house for the holidays and add pine cones and other decorations with it.

Yes Joel, you should consider a knee cushion and some gloves to do gardening. My friends had a thick weed like the one you will need a shovel to did up, theirs went almost a meter deep, but it's gone for good. Next trip to the garden center, ad few must haves: 1) garden gloves, 2) loppers or cutters, 3) pruning shears and 4) fertilizer.🌱🌲🌱 I was just looking at the large circle on your lawn, was that ornamental grass you cut over? It's looking good so far! Oh and forgot ...Take care of yourself! 👍😊👍

Salix advice - make sure it’s watered all the time. I just went through thinking I had killed my two very new Salix trees and what I learned is that they like what gardeners call “wet feet” - roots always damp. I pruned mine way back (no foliage! Because it was all dead) and then watered heavily and they both came back very healthily. Some hydrangeas would look great in that garden and also give you privacy. On another note, thank you for this week’s video. Do what makes you happy and you will draw in the right people to your life and YT or IG. Take care of yourself first. Those of us who enjoy your cosy, wholesome content will still be here for it no matter what form it takes - If that is what you decide is best for you. Hi Joel ,The big tree in the front garden needs to be removed before it causes any damage to your garden wall and the foundations to the house as it will grow very fast and big ,Also that weed that is climbing over everything is bindweed and will kill most of the plants in the garden . You will also need to bag it and bin it , Don"t throw over the fence or you will never get rid of it.
It probably already grows over the fence
I really love your weekly vlogs about your life because you always got something to talk about and something new to say even though technically you are " doing the same things you always do." I even love the book recommendations that you have because I went behind you and read them just because you said they were good. I don't feel like you should have to make up a topic every week and then just do that topic or just do that thing for just the vlog. But if you want to shake things up because you feel like you need something to shake up then do that, I like the rest of the people here will be here to cheer you on.

Before you do any planting, or even get rid of something, a small garden needs a design; a landscape plan. Stylistically, whatever you choose, find a designer and get a drawing.

Hey Joel, with regard to your rose in the front garden, most roses need light and sunshine to thrive so possibly being under a tree isn't doing it any favours. What I would probably do is wait until early next year, prune it hard and then move it to a more open spot ...

Your video was a nice little treat after 6 hours of gardening. I really needed to get it all wrapped up as we will be getting temperatures between 90-97 mid week (in Southern Maine).
I love Period Living magazine. I also read Country Living, English Home, English Garden, and Landscape when I get the chance. They can be such an inspiration with gardening and home decor.

It doesn't matter what you post, I watch it regardless. Watching a missed livestream is great for background listening since you are just sitting having a chat. It doesn't require actual watching. I'm glad you broke down and got a book subscription to get special edition books. It grows your library, introduces you to new books and makes your bookshelf pretty too. It also helps you with a video idea talking about the latest book you got or new one you read and enjoyed. I watch a few booktube, bookstagram and booktok people and enjoy their views on their favorite books or what they get in post. It's killer for my wallet if it sparks my inner book dragon's interest though.
You're vlogging is what you feel comfortable doing and seeing if your members like it. I do like seeing your normal day to day routine and hope you don't stop vlogging that totally and you don't stop posting on CZcams. You do a schedule that is right for you and you're members will understand and if they don't they can unsubscribe.

Everyone has an opinion, some thoughtful and some trash, including me. I watch your vlogs because I love the chaotic nature of your life (running here, running there, trips, London, Leeds, kids, Keegan, books, etc.)….what seems repetitive to you is anything but that to me and your followers. Plus, you are a genuinely likable chap! When it comes to CZcams, perhaps you don’t realize that many of us don’t belong to Facebook, Instagram, or other social media sites. Our only connection to you is CZcams. Now, having offered this, if CZcams is causing you life problems then it isn’t worth it so GET RID OF IT. You only have one life, one career, one nuclear family, and the joy of meaningful friendships. Get those important things right and don’t be overly concerned about the rest of us who are on the periphery. I don’t know if this makes sense and certainly I speak only for myself….. if you are happy then I find joy in just knowing that…whether you are on CZcams or not. All the best.

Recently Bad Actors and Bad Actors 2 came up in my suggestions. The dates seem to be about a decade ago. My big question... How do you not age? I swear I thought "This is something new" like it was filmed in the last few weeks.
You have a lot on your plate and the good thing about CZcams/Instagram/Social Media in general is you make it what you want. And it's always a really good thing to put your mental health first.
You are always so smart, so funny and such a great communicator (include Keegan in these statements as well) we will always appreciate your content.

Don't worry about anything! Regarding that thick clump of grass you had trouble mowing. .... get a weed whacker to help knock it down. It will also help with weeds along the outer wall as well as along the walk. ❤❤
Only do something if you enjoy it! If you scale back that’s ok. If it makes you happier that’s ok too! People who think it’s about them,no to be mean, but they aren’t that important😂. As a viewer, there are times I will watch all your videos as soon as they come out and other times It may be a little bit. I always watch but I do it when it’s good for me just as you should. I love seeing you on Instagram! They are short and funny. You tube I have to carve out the time cause they are longer but I love getting to know you🫶

Your story about the fairy lights was great. How funny would it be if you told her that as you went into the store, in that voice TOO, after having been all deep voice strong man vibes. 😂 Your laugh is contagious! And whomever whines about an hour long live with you, well, let's just say, they don't get it. We're here for it as often as you can without over extending yourself. ❤
I picked up some "fairy lights " for a small outdoor "smoking porch " of my 101 year old home in Portland Oregon from a Costco several years back. They are solar powered via a remote on a timer for 6 hours. I love them because they were cheap and good looking and I had no electric source out there...but they face my driveway and also offer a modicum of security. Sorry you have been bothered by weird viewers. Not surprising however because people just don't know how to behave. Anyway I enjoy your posts whenever you are in the mood. Cheers!

You were a busy boy. I guess with all your running around and traveling the front garden has suffered. You got right in there and tackled it. It'll take some time and effort to get it looking nice again. All a work in progress. It's nice you're able to reward yourself with a nice soak in the hot tub. I know your hay fever has probably kicked in. BTW, the drawer handles are call drawer pulls. Take care and stay well.

We are in the middle of Winter and our top temperature for today is projected to be 14C. Can't wait to get back to Summer. Roses do better in full sun Joel. It can't compete with the tree for nutrition. They are easy to relocate during their dormant period. When you prune roses you should do it in Winter or late Autumn when they begin their dormant period. If you want a non-toxic weed killer for pathways you can make your own from vinegar, salt and a little dishwashing liquid. There is a recipe online. All the best with the garden mate.
I’m not sure, but it looks as though there was some ornamental grass at the front of the garden just to the left of the walkway that you mowed down. If so, not to worry, it will grow back beautifully if you don’t remove the roots. 8:00
