Producers need to do some audio balancing. Listen to the last 5 seconds of the pod into the outro, and tell me you didn’t almost go deaf when the quiet podcast turns into the world’s loudest outro. Another great show tho

the warriors basically put out a statement that wouldn't take Ant because they couldn't be sure he loved basketball. Which a heavy talking point from that draft that people conveniently forget now that he's a killer. and also Ant was far from a consensus #1 there was a lot of talk about Wiseman an LaMelo and I'm a Wolves fan so I was deep into all of it.

Unfortunately he only ever says the same thing and his audience is basically entirely composed of people who want to hear him say that thing. But yeah there are still movie critics out there.

I just came here to say as a fan of you both, for you to clown on Pat Bevs podcast on today’s show is downright hilarious. His show started a full year AFTER this one and his channel has OVER 100 THOUSAND MORE SUBSCRIBERS THAN YOURS! Criticize him elsewhere but his pod is good.

The difference between sports and other entertainment or even tech is the very essence of sports is foundationally the aura or spectre of competition. Take away the end score and the end result is a bunch of grown adults chasing a ball around on a field or court. Tell me again who was enthralled by the NFL preseason?
With movies or television shows or anything else, two products in the same field can thrive simultaneously, both Apple and Samsung can sell a billion phones a piece, both Barbie and Oppenheimer can have a billion people watch them, but onyl one NBA team or NFL team wins the title at the end of the year.
That's the difference, that's why we critique sports so hard, because the oneupmanship is the underlying reasons for sports' existence, but outside of awards shows (which let's face it, is just a lame excuse for actors to get drunk), nobody is pitting movies against one another.
I just love seeing all these "analysts" be so wrong about the Knicks
I realize you will probably get set straight about this far before my commentary here possibly reaches you, but I don't think you can possibly say that the arts are not actively subject to serious criticism -- that part of your point does not work -- however --- you could point out that the basis of the criticism could be distinguished -- it's not that the arts are not criticized, it's that they are criticized on a different basis -- if you are an artist you want to be discussed in those terms -- maybe your efforts work/attain the heights you are aiming for, maybe not, but there is something esthetic at play -- not just a forgettable outcome to forgettable game -- winning and losing is not the point, the struggle to win simply provides the frame for the performance. That is, they want to be judged based on what they paint on those canvases, not based on some characteristic of the canvasses themselves.
I think they'd hook you up with some kind of tickets Nick.

Hey Nick, long time listener and fan. I’ve always appreciated how real you are and the fact that you’re not afraid to tackle real world topics on your show when it’s necessary. From the BLM movement to gun violence, I’ve always appreciate your ability articulate ideas well and explain the humanity of it all to people who might not want to hear it. I say all that to say I think it’s past time you acknowledge the genocide going on right now at the hands of Israel. As a father who loves his kids, I hope you understand that 15k slaughtered children can’t be ignored, and it’s something everybody should speak up on. Whether it’s here or on FTF, I really believe you should acknowledge the atrocities being perpetuated, not just by our government abroad, but on the campus’s of your home NY, Columbia, Syracuse, etc. a little support would go a long way and we all have a responsibility to speak out against this.
