- For 20 years, people have been putting grapes in the microwave to watch them explode. But there is some real science behind this internet phenomenon. Find out more in this week's ScienceTake.

Good thing I've never tried microwaving grapes because I didn't know this.
At the first place why would you even microwave the grapes....
@@theintergalacticcounciltar6686 Yeah, I definitely wonder who was thinking, "You know what? I could really go for some piping hot grapes right now. And I haven't got the time to heat them up in the oven or on the stovetop, so I'll just pop them in the microwave."
Goodness gracious, grape balls of fire
*_My chicken pops & explodes sometimes too when I heat it up in the microwave.._*
I bet you followed Mr Bean.
I'm assuming this would explain lots of videos of ppl microwaving random foods and making crazy claims of whats in the food? Like nitrites being a carcinogen? I've heard that one on a video of a woman getting this reaction when microwaving deli ham
This is definitely the most interesting thing I have been seen today!
The grapes act like convex lenses concentrating the MW radiation. Nothing more nothing less
The distance across the grape match the wavelength of a microwave
Thank you.
What went through the mind of the first person to discover this?
Maybe they were trying to thaw out frozen grapes? Hah.
@@g.p.1101 Why thaw frozen grapes? That's the best way to eat them
@@TheCumberCoIlectivepsychopaths aren’t just a Hollywood thing
Just wanted some hot grapes
Perhaps they wanted to heat up a bowl of desert that also had fruit such as grapes inside?
Anyways they probably got quite the shock
Great 👍 well done 👍
That sound in the end lol
Veritasium did the experiment and explained better.
Und wer kommt von Tommy?
Schwanzus Longus haha ja xD
My aunt tried to microwave the whole egg even tho we warned her, lol !
What happened?
Tried that and I opened a black hole
R. Kelly is afraid this will happen to his grapes.
Cut a grape in half and have them in contact for a real show
C'est super mais pourquoi ce n'est pas traduit en Français ? Ou comment faut'il faire ? Merci cordialement Mr MOREAU
Peeled it first diamonds
Wow I must do this!
What happens if i heat it then eat it before it expode
Huh I thought it's just gonna explode. But eh thanks I guess plasma.
But I really wanna see it explode!
Isn't it dangerous to do this at home?!

I wish Oppenheimer is here
now to take this idea to the next level and use this idea for military purposes as to make a plasma cannon hahahahahahahahah!
using grapes as ammo and to use radiation in the cannon launcher
uh oh I think I just opened up Pandora's box sorry
psycho
Dr Doofenshmirtz is that you? No, you are pretending to be me!!! I am the one and only Heinz Doofenshmirtz
It seems very similar to Veritasium video
Came here from the Tumblr post
It's just a waste of grapes...wait, maybe they are still edible after that or even more delicious.
jukucholove the whole grapes will contain the microwave light
Sometimes, we must sacrifice grapes for the development of science
Wouldn't one of those "good" ol' TV dinners do something like that too? Kind of expected from metals, I bet? That grapes can do it is cool. But why not 2 plums, for instance, if good'n juicy?
How about tomato? Quite similar object..
Wait its just plasma right, so it not dangerous right?
Incorrect. Plasma is extremely hot, ranging from 11,000-14,000° F. Just look up a plasma cutter, pretty interesting stuff
@@Matt-lf9nnI’m pretty sure he’s alluding to the possibility of eating it after
Grape powered plasma rifle
Excuse me while I go microwave a grape
Reminds me of the end of the world
how many seconds should I use?
you still wanna do it if so like 25
Why is everyone talking about plasma grapes all of a sudden? Veritasium, the McElroys, now this? Weird ultra-specific zeitgeist.
Talking about getting the grapes hot babey 👌
Is a plasma grape edible?
No.
@@redpineapplee700source?
I got sent here by someone trying to excuse some crap writing about Superman. This explains absolutely nothing.
Now goto Walmart and buy a new microwave your magnetron is fried 😭🤗🤭

They did surgery on a grape
What a sad, sad waste of a delicious grape...

I thought scientists were curing cancer you just ruined a party trick
Sans the Skeleton not all scientists specialize in that area dumb dumb
Who from tik tok?
me not
Fake
Shout me out in your next video I love your videos
Well the idea was to use this research to print extremely tiny circuit boards. The fact that it's a party trick does not mean that science is useless
