...”It has kind of a bitter taste” I’ll take your word for it.
@Huma17 pH and litmus paper right?
-the more you know-
@Huma17 you can chemically test for all flavors if I remember correctly
Dont forget it's the insect's urine.
Looks like spittlebug urine. Tastes like it too. Thank goodness I did not step in it!
Did these guys taste bug urine? 1:13
Now that you asked...good question!
Honey is bee vomit
There are chemical tests to see if something is bitter or sweet. U don't need to put it in your mouth
In the name of Science!!!
pH level greater than 7 can determine that.
The bubbles are pee...
Ian Lack
Not pee, but vomit, actually
RandomClarinet613 O_o does that really make it better....

Pee is stored in the foreskin.
Wow wtf, when I was working in the garden and saw this I always thought someone spit in the grass lmao!
W same!
Luckily it was just urine

I never knew there were bugs inside the bubbles. I thought these were something that bugs just excreted and left behind... That's interesting and really strange.
Fruffers i thought it was someone’s saliva
@@aangsstaff4174 Haha! You must have been horrified each time you found these then. Someone is just going around drooling on plants.
Well, you're not entirely wrong since the bubbles are made with their pee.
Fruffers I never saw one of those, never even heard of until this video
I see them get left behind a lot only found a bug in it about 20% of the time. Also frog/leaf hoppers are a very large group of bugs and there actually isn't much research done on them, some don't even have names, and its just cause there are so many in most areas.
So whenever I played with this when I was little I was playing with pee? That’s nice.
At least it isn't poisonous.
Same... Explains my bukkake pee fetish to a certain extent...
@@Weelki dude wtf
Yeah, and when you knew you were playing with pee also... that makes about ten hours a day for you back then.
@@Weelki what
It's not really gross. Their pee is probably just made out of the liquid found inside the plant that they don't need and throw out. So drinking their pee would probably be just like eating the plant.
Exactly what im thinkin
Now let’s test that theory
I'll trust you on that one...
Yeah I think you’re right…but still,you go first lol
By that logic drinking my pee would be like drinking cola.

Why not name it "Bubble Buggy"?
Sounds cheesy.
That's a oddly cute name
It's a reference to SpongeBob guys
Bubble Buggy, you’re the one!
You make (DRINKING SAP FROM A PLANT) so much fun!
Because he burned our crops, poisoned our water supply and released a plague on to our houses
Your telling me when I used to touch this stuff to look at the cute little bugs I was actually touching bug urine...I love my childhood

yes, our life is brief on a relative term. i know its awkward, but do you mind sharing any worthwhile advise for a young chap? because you do sound wise 😊
Oh. I've seen it in both states apparently. I hate how they fling themselves at me in the garden. Not cool bro.
@@marxgalacticambition7023 the adults aren't coated in pee though. And they are the ones that hop

Mom: who poured bubble bath soap in the toilet?!
I love finding these guys in early spring/summer, they're so cute! Oh and just so you know, the bubbles are kind of slimy, and yes you can push them back and see them huddling in there.
I had no idea spittle bugs and leaf hoppers were connected but that makes me so happy because I love both so much! That's amazing!

Beautiful! Living in bubbles must be nice. ❤ How incredible is the world.
It'd actually be more like living in a cocoon of your own urine. Not that awesome 🤣
Jlinus Their urine is made out of the plant's liquids which are not gross, unlike human pee.
@@BltchErica human urine is 95% water though
I grew up in one house until just two years ago where I moved to the city away from home. Growing up and even into adulthood, I loved finding these spitballs in my field in summer. I just called them spitbugs and when me or my dog ran through the fields, I often had like five of these spit balls on my legs, so I found the bugs in them, and took some time to observe. I dont think they're as far north as I am now, so its now a nostalgic thing, but i love they did a bit on a very nostalgic bug I grew up around.
Brings a new view to the "live inside a bubble" expression
I remember finding these things with my friends when I was little we used to call it "Cuckoo spit" for some reason XD
Thanks for the likes!
My family called it that too too, I think this must be a reasonably common nickname for froghopper spittle. Like calling pond algae "grinny green-teeth"
Same here buddy. Slang/wild/lazy name is in fact ‘cuckoo spit’
Maybe it depends where you're from...I'm in the UK and growing up, we always referred to it as "frog spit".
@@deathofrats3649 I’m in the UK too and I’ve always heard it being referred to as ‘cuckoo spit’. I guess it has different regional nicknames.
The first time I saw one of these as a child I thought it was a hybrid between a bug and a lizard
"boy does it hop"
Plz make this the next big meme
2:20 that flip is so graceful though, much more graceful than my face landing on the soil 😮
*T E C H N I Q U E*
The speed at which the bug hops in this video is misleadingly slowed down. It's almost as if they vanish.
that ending should be a meme😂

Just found these in my yard and had to know more. Thanks to you I've been thoroughly enlightened.
This is one of the coolest bugs I've seen in a while!
I thought They were from grasshoppers.
My life is a lie
Yep.
I liked more it's early game playstyle, more like a control/zoning character
Froghoppers are in the family Cercopidae. The "bubbles" are actually excreted through whats called Malpighian tubules. This is an organ found inside the insect and is mostly used to absorb nutrients after food has passed through the foregut and midgut. However, many insects modify and evolve to use their Malpighian tubules for additional uses such as Cecropidae releasing this bubble stuff and Chrysopidae producing silk.
I've seen countless of these, but never seen the "1 big bubble"
I've pulled them apart several times, knowing it was some sort of bug using the bubbles as defense.
I always assumed they were related to leafhoppers, because they were similar in shape.
How it feels to chew 5 gum 2:19
Those bubbles are strong
Omg, spittlebugs! I used to break apart the bubbles and pick up the nymphs. I still love bugs, but I don't needlessly terrify spittlebugs any more.
This is an example of what people do in reality. Never allowing themselves expose themselves from gust of wind outside from the real world.
new water insect type pokemon i see
Oh I always though my little brother spat on the plant (because shes dumb) but it's a bug...
I mean, there's not much of a difference, my brother is also a pest
gaming duck Adventures ‘my little brother’ *in brackets* ‘shes’
The way they hops is sooo majestic

2:00 what happens if you pop the bubble when it is going through metamorphosis?
The bug disintegrates into nothingness.

I have never seen these whatsoever in my 20 years of life. Thank you for sharing this interesting little bug.
I am not sure if this should be called urine though.
curious if it even contains urea
Call it bubble shield
1:10 how do you know it has a bitter taste
A researcher tasted it.
You can check it chemically, with a pH test
