      @@rethla Any performacne car, if they could really threw out the rulebook, it would not look like anything like a F1 car. Rules dictate form and function, and interesting in that respect was the cowls mentioned in this video. The same cowl technology now banned because it killed Senna because engineers, in their defense, did not know how much on the limit they were working, it worked but taking into account the drop in tire pressure from hot to cold it bottomed out his car, no one coiuld have thought of that. Now they know that and can make use of it without it ever happen again, but it's banned by men who never sat in a racecar themselves. It has become a sport of jurists sifting through the rules to determine how many nano millimeters of carbon extensions they can get away with.
      Motorsport rules should only contain rules to protect the drivers, even though they know full well each time they step into a racecar they are risking their life. However gruesome crashes may be, more racecar drivers died of track then on track. It's a bit harsh of an example perhaps, but look at Schumacher and the horrific crashes he has had throughout his career in race cars on track and a of piste ski venture was his downfall even though he should have died a hundred times before in all the crashes on track.
      Group B rallying was awesome, Toivonnen died because the tech was not on par with the speed, but todays heavilly restricted rally cars are faster then the Group B were but they are still restricted from incidents in the past which are know common sense, regretable learning incidents, in the racing world that whatever you come up with , driver safety is first. And they show that time and again when drivers crash, and that they can do much more to make the sport better and keep the drivers safe and acknowledge safety first, but the wrong people decide what engineers, developpers and drivers can do, and restrict a whole team and sport to really be innovative and move forwards

Why because instead of just a screaming cacophony of sweet engine noises, I can hear the engine the spinning turbo the tyres scrabbling for grip the subtle slide of the tyres over the differing surfaces of track and kerbs and painted lines. All with the unique sound of the modern engines that let me hear the driver working and how his,invariably at present, input affects the cars performance.
      Yes the v10 sounded glorious and the Ferrari’s v12 or v8 just had that edge on the Mercedes engines for sound. But those days are gone and going, we will soon live in an era of almost full electric power trains for cars and trucks. It may appear distant now but the main engine manufacturer plan a decade in advance. They have to it costs too much. And if F1 is not relevant to them it will die a slow spiralling death, if not hastened by the likes of sky f1.

Much respect for these guys to push the boundaries !!! Honesty I think F1 needs to get rid of all the rules . There’s is something beautiful when a man or a lady challenges possibility . I have always been a Adrenalin junky and I like stepping out of my comfort zone and seeing what I’m made of... even if it is risking my life! I think DANGER is what I was so in love with in racing. My gramps my pops and me have all driven race cars , but now days it’s too watered down. You have these young drivers that have no fear because the cars are so safe they think they are invincible . I was born in the 70s and cried for a week when my hero senna died, I cried when dale died and for many of my fathers and grandfathers friends died racing. I remember being stupefied by the Group B Cars. Racing to me was so mystical because of the danger involved ! Now I’m not saying we should not make the cars as safe as we know how. All I’m saying is you don’t go watching bull riding worrying about if some one is going to get hurt! NO MORE PC in racing

    I'll bet that at 4:00, there were many Petrolheads having strange stirrings 'downstairs'.
    But there needs to be ONE racing series with no restrictions. One where engineers can just go insane and produce the best car they can possibly create.
    There's probably a method of reconfiguring the aerodynamics of the car on track to deal with wake. Presumably, if you know how the air is exiting the car in front, you could deploy additional aerodynamics to sort of 'recycle' it into something beneficial?
    I think you'd find combustion engines getting smaller and electric (or other ERS/clean) engines becoming lighter, more powerful and able to go longer distances at full tilt, which would obviously translate over to road vehicles.

      More people would benefit from just spending 10 seconds doing it themselves but people are more willing to just complain than actually do something to find out the number they are so desperate to know.

    • @andries4561
      @andries4561 Před 6 lety +14

      Christopher Everson Well, all the people that want to know it is a lot of seconds together🙄 While for the uploader it's 10 seconds only once. The uploader benefits when he does that because people like the fact that it is in both metric and imperial. If people have to do it themselves it's not beneficial for the uploader.

    I'm starting to feel that the whole "open wheel" design might not be the best after all. Look at that thing, lapping faster than last year's F1 cars on the very same year that they underwent loads of changes and became the fastest they have ever been. And then you just think about the close racing that's possible with these cars, very much because there's a large area with bodywork that adds down-force without having too much of an issue with dirty air.
    Makes one wonder, really.
