Shhhh, don't tell Victory Records. c; Tomas Kalnoky's version of "Ungrateful" off the 'cancelled' The Hand That Thieves album. Pentimento Music Co. Full album download - www.mediafire.com/?a4adkhbo8cj...
There's something about his songwriting that has always given me chills, especially when his songs are conveyed like this. I LOVE me some Streetlight, but sometimes the message can get a little lost in the chaos that is ska punk. His Toh Kay work is so chill and it really brings out the beauty in these songs.
as much as i find the original streetlight versions amazing, a part of me feels like this album is the definitive version of most of the THTT songs. I suppose partially because when you grow inevitably get tired of punk energy - like the fatigue at the end of a day - the gentle acoustic sound is certainly something timeless.
Inside my mind there is a man, he's always bragging about his plans He said he's never gonna leave (I'm never gonna leave you) Despite my efforts to be free, I'm his and always I will be Day late a dollar short singing, Woah oh, woah is me And I know I have to but I don't know how And I know that he knows I can't do without And he knows that I need it so bad But then I realize it's clear that he knows that In the end, he'll never know what hides inside my... head I don't wanna seem ungrateful I don't wanna seem like I don't need anyone's help To get me through these rainy days To push through the haze so I can Get on my feet and I can, stand up and do what it takes You heard his story now hear mine, I live inside a coward's mind Where every dream that I dream gets shot down all of the time If I don't jump into the fray, he'll mope around and waste the day He's like a ton of concrete tied to me, tied around my waist And he knows he has to but he doesn't know how And he knows that I know he can do without And I know that he needs it so bad But then he'll realize it's clear that I know that In the end, we'll never know what hides inside his..head I don't wanna seem ungrateful I don't wanna seem like I don't need anyone's help To get me through these rainy days To push through the haze so I can Get on my feet and I can, stand up and do what it takes And we know we have to but we don't know how... And we know they know what it's all about And they know that we need it so bad But then we realize it's clear that they know that In the end, they'll never know what hides inside our...head I don't wanna seem ungrateful I don't wanna seem like we don't need anyone's help To get us through these rainy days To push through the haze so we can Get on our feet and we can, stand up and do what it takes Hey, I don't wanna seem ungrateful I don't wanna seem like we don't need anyone's help To get us through these rainy days To push through the haze so we can Get on our feet and we can, stand up and do what it takes
“I don’t wanna seem ungrateful,I don’t wanna seem like I don’t need anyones help” Meanwhile the other song:”I don’t need anyone,I don’t need aaanyoneee 🎶”
Starting getting into Carl Jung. It's not theoretically perfectly similar of course, but this song is like a debate with the shadow / the unconscious psyche.

I agree fully. His musical talent shows more in Toh Kay but streetlight manifesto is great ya know.

what is this song about? in my opinion it sounds like a man's personality and his mind switching perspectives
Insecurities
Is this Sublime or the Steve Miller Band haha
its Tomas Kalnoky (from streetlight manifesto and catch 22) singing his acoustic single, streetlight lullabies
Saben Butts This ain't Lullabies, It's The Hands That Thieve
Aleksije Vujovic this is true
