    Just from personal experience, when spraying, especially when inexperienced, have a roller ready just in case you put it on heavy some where and cause a run. Excellent job bud, good luck with the build.

    Well done mate! ...your video was just what we've been looking for... was tossing up whether or not to use the convenience of raptor rattle cans, but the price per can is definetely a show stopper... have since purchased a 4ltr kit ($300 delivered ebay special) and roller system to coat our new off road camper trailer chassis... we watched a UPOL RAPTOR video of them coating a 4x4 chassis using their rollers, and it looks to be the go!, again great video mae, you have new subscribers... cheers from your mates in the Redlands (Mt Cotton) Grant & Kath (PS. I just did the can yesterday because I didn’t want to hook up my spray rig and do it.. I have to say that that can does not go far 😮. It’s best to run the spray gun with the bottle of Raptor. Your cash will go much further 😊 of course as mentioned the material has a low pot life. Have all your pieces ready to spray at once so you get the most out of it. I did the whole roof of my landrover with 2 bottles . That can wouldn’t even get a quarter of that done at best. I thought it was a bit of a rip at 36$ a can. As always prep is 99 percent of the job. The painting is the easy part. ❤

    • @FLIPMYRIDE
      @FLIPMYRIDE  Před rokem

      Hi Vincent. My Hilux is a longbed. Id say your short bed is probably wide so overall it may be similar. If you are in Australia then be prepared to be ripped off. In the U.S the cans retail in the $30s so much more affordable and convenient. I also think the kit does lay a tougher coat than the cans. Maybe because you can lay down more coats without worry about running out of cans. Glad you liked the video.

    I've just stumbled onto your channel looking for Raptor reviews.
    Q. How have you found the can version since you applied it. How hard did it dry. Does it clean easily.
    I'm looking at doing the underside of my 63 beetle.

      @FLIPMYRIDE  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hi Kevin. Thanks for the stumble. Hope you stick around on the channel. I have sold the Hilux so I can not really tell you much. I believe the spray gun kit is a better option and probably hardier because it is more affordable to layer up properly. Are you doing it for rust or as a tough protective layer mainly?

    Damn... I wonder what the weight difference between the full can and an empty can is and then the $/per unit difference between the convenience of a can vs the roll-on vs the spray stuff is. It just seems insane that it takes 8 cans to do a truck bed.

    • @FLIPMYRIDE

    Currently just under $40 US here in the States for a can. I did a full size Bronco using the bottles and the Schultz gun. I got a special gun for a more smoother but still textured finish. I need to redo my tail gate and go the cans. It seemed the most efficient at the time. I have not used them yet. How chunky did the bed turn out? Hard to tell from the video. Maybe compare it to sand paper grit? Hopefully you still respond on this page.

    • @shickenchits8123
      @shickenchits8123 Před měsícem

      How many bottles did it take for your Bronco? I'm coating my CJ5 exterior, and the bottles and gun seem to be a better deal than the cans at $40 plus here in Texas. Thanks.

      @theceltbeserk1 Před měsícem

      @@shickenchits8123
      Definitely go with the Bottles.
      Body took 8 bottles. (88 Full Size Bronco)
      The Top and accessories took 6 Bottles. ( I sprayed heavy for the top)
      I went with the tintable and added UPOLs Basalt Grey for the Bronco Body.
      6 may have worked, but Amazon sent me a light grey tint pack mixed in with my basalt grey and I didn't catch it until I sprayed it.
      I did the top and grill, in Black. Plus the side mirrors and a safari rack and the chrome around the headlight assembly. The sprayers are not meant for fine controlled work. I had a lot of over spray for the smaller items and the rack. Tape and cover everything. Mind your spray distance.
      The standard gun in the kit gives a heavy textured coat.
      I bought an Adjustable gun (UPOL- UP4880) to get a finer texture for the body. It came out real nice. (80 grit sandpaper)
      I used a fairly small Porter Cable air compressor. 150psi/2.5sqfm
      If prepped correctly, and you use the adhesion promoter, this stuff is tough. I did mine in 2018. It still looks great. I have to use a power washer on it a couple times a year and that's it.
      I would get a 6 bottle kit for your Jeep. The kicker is that once mixed you have an hour to spray and then have to wait 20 minutes between coats. You have to clean the gun immediately between bottles. I just dropped the tube into a can of acetone and sprayed it out good. I wasn't comfortable mixing multiple bottles at once. I wanted the consistency to be exact each spray.
      Also do not mess around with any N95. Get yourself a full mask with replaceable filters. Glasses and nitrile gloves. Watch your air hose. The stuff is like glue once sprayed on.
      DM me on X and I can offer some pics of my truck if interested. @Celty1795085

    Looks really nice to me. Much cheaper than getting a fully capable compressor and gun and paint. Still pretty costly but here in the USA 8 cans would run maybe $300 while a compressor, paint, and gun is going to be well over 1k.
    You can also reduce costs a bit by going 1k for the first coat then 2k after or vice versa (not sure which would be stronger honestly).
