This man is bringing people together who would have no interest otherwise in the information he shares. The sheer excellence of the information and outstanding effort and passion that is put into every video has created a community that not only trusts, but almost depends on your words. Not only that, but even with such a large following, he still has time to lend an ear and reach out to that community. I'd love to find one
I think his is as harbor freight one but they are sold on Ebay as well.
Harbor Freight have started stocking them. They're super useful. Obviously the usual ebay places and such too.
I've used Herculiner in a couple of projects and it has been super tough and durable. Only downside is it has a very rough surface. Also the ground rubber settles really fast, so you need to stir it a lot and often. I wish they would make a smooth version with finer ground rubber in it. It is the best non skid surface I've ever seen. It's not only rough, it's sticky, and perfect for stair treads like like camper door steps. The first project I used it on was applied it to the top of my boat fenders where I stand a lot and climb in and out of the boat. Couldn't believe how tough it was and how tenacious it sticks. I also lined my old truck fender wells with it. Rocks just bounce right off leaving no marks. I used Raptor on the interior floors of my truck because I could get it in white color, and it has a much smoother surface. If I remember right, I think it is available in several colors. Sprayed it with a schutz gun. It's not nearly as tough as the Herculiner in my opinion, but it looks so nice. Herculiner is pretty ugly.
Thanks for the feedback.
What you need is herculiner spray. It works great. It will give you that finer rubberized texture that you are looking for. And it will be more even looking.
I love Herculiner! Used it to line my motorcycle ramps so I can get my bike up them in the winter

We definitely appreciate your testing. I cannot believe what an impact primer has to adhesion. Thank you for all the great testing that you perform.
You are welcome!
What I love most about these tests is it doesn't absolutely show what the best one is, bit it shows what each individual products strengths and weaknesses are so you can decide which is best for you. Some have great impact resistance but arent chemical resistant, for example.
Thanks for sharing.
No it was obvious. Herculiner wins all, there's no question here.
Slip resistance would be an interesting additional test.
excellent suggestion. retired carpenter, but still use my truck for working. plastic bed liner now.. i imagine that you could use it as a sled... on a sandpaper covered hill, on a hot summer day no less. i had the rubber mat before. but those are pricey.
Abrasiveness would be another one some of the liners can be pretty abrasive which is not a great attribute if you have to crawl around in the bed.
Thanks for the suggestion.
All bed liners of this type seem to be pretty slippery. You really need a rubber mat on top of the bed liner.
@@garycarpenter2932 You can get any outdoor grade mat for the back and it will work fine. If you don't mind super ugly, looks like the prices start at about $20 on Amazon.
I've also seen guys use carpet remnants until they get too funky... but the price is right!
I have never driven through a puddle of alcohol but I've had a brake line blow. You should include brake fluid in all your chemical resistance tests.
I have at the paper plant
Brake fluid doesn't effect bedliners

Such great product testing in this video. Who else was surprised by how much a primer increases bond strength? Amazing job as always.
In the words of Apu (the Simpsons), the primer helps not always.
Yeah, that was very surprising. Also very surprising was the differences between reactions of some liners to primer.
Primer is always awesome. It does seem like it would help, but even with premium paint that advertises paint and primer in one...it's still gonna help.
Yeah, I have a newfound respect for primer.
I'm in commercial and industrial coating work, im not surprised in the least!

It was informative, and the tests done were tests of actual everyday things that can occur to the bedliners. I look forward to watching more of your videos now that I have subscribed to you. I wish I had found you years ago. For some reason, I think it is smart to watch actual test review videos before buying certain products. Especially if you really like 2 specific makes of a product and they are so close to each other , a really thorough review of these products will really help you determine which is clearly best for you. I wish it was more durable, too.
For sealing things watertight, you can't beat it.
Not so good on floors, or places where things have to be slid across.
But, it does what it is supposed to.
I did find that the white stuff turns yellow pretty quickly, and that's in a closet.
@@danieljones317 I've flex seal on the edges of osb siding on shed doors to seal them up from water. Worked great. Do a extended sun light fade test with the top contenders.
Good idea. He already has them all made up. All he has to do is leave them out. Doesn't even have to put them anywhere special. It's a truck bed liner. Just throw them on top of something and walk away for a year or whatever
I second this idea.
Yes, this seems to be the weakest part of DIY Bedliners. I put some in a silver truck and within 6 months it got chalky, shrunk and you could see the silver showing through. You really need to buy 5 kits of this stuff to match what a professional installer uses. They get chalky and shrink too, but they use so much more material that you don't see the paint show through after years of sun exposure.
This, I've used herculiner before and tho it's tough it fades bad. Id love to see how the top contenders hold up
Ive had herculiner on a vehicle of mine now for about two and a half years and its faded pretty bad at this point. Whats still left is stuck well but its gonna get recoated this year.

I can't remember if it was line-x or Rhino, but the How Rediculous channel coated a watermelon in it and dropped it from a 45m tower and it survived. Well the bed liner did. I don't remember how the watermelon held up inside the liner.
I think that's right. Was going to have a mower deck Line-X'd but found it cost prohibitive.

Yea I would love to see that, maybe a comparission to stock ford/chevy spray in liners too. Maybe a junkyard would make a donation?
My thoughts exactly. I've seen a lot of testing from normally reliable sources with these that are really impressive, but they were all sponsored or received the product for free. It would be great to see testing from a truly unbiased source.
