- When the gates opened on Day One of Barrett-Jackson’s 2023 Palm Beach Auction, thousands of eager car enthusiasts explored the event which is filled with a world-class display of collector vehicles at the South Florida Fairgrounds.
In keeping with Barrett-Jackson tradition, the festivities kicked off Wednesday evening with the Opening Night Party. The auction pavilion was transformed for the festive event, where bidders, consignors, VIPs, sponsors and guests mingled, dined, danced - and celebrated. The Florida-based band Libido kept energy levels high throughout the evening with their dynamic blend of current and classic hits.
On Thursday morning, guests of all ages began enjoying many amazing experiences at the auction site, from interactive displays and demonstrations from more than 100 exhibitors and sponsors to an array of dining options.
Visitors also enjoyed exciting Thrill Rides in @Dodge Challengers and Chargers, as well as @toyotausa Supras, around the Barrett-Jackson Performance Track. @ford and @Chevrolet were also on hand for Hot Laps in Mustangs and Corvettes.
A new attraction at the auction is the Electric Vehicle Driving Experiences, which allow guests to get behind the wheel of a new @LucidMotors vehicle or an EV from Florida Power and Light.
The auction opened on Thursday with the first of three mornings’ worth of authentic and one-of-a-kind automotive collectibles crossing the block during the Automobilia Auction. The morning’s auction began with 100 examples of collectible cool on the block, where three beautiful gas pumps - a 1939 Texaco Oil Neptune Model 855, a 1950s Mobil Oil Wayne 100 and a 1950s-60s Wayne 505 Sunoco Racing Fuel model - proved to be the stars of the show.
An enthusiastic audience continued to fill the pavilion as the Collector Car Auction got underway in the early afternoon. Nearly 200 of the No Reserve collector vehicles on the Palm Beach docket took their turn on the block. The top sellers of the day included a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner (Lot 137), a 1965 Chevrolet Nova SS custom coupe (Lot 109), a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette 327/300 convertible (Lot 112), a 1948 MG TC Roadster (Lot 88), and a 1961 Pontiac Catalina Tri-Power convertible (Lot 105). The sale price of each Lot sold can be viewed by logging in to the online docket.

I have a small collection of Brabus tuned Mercedes- G Wagon Widestar 800, AMG GTR, SL Brabus 750 which I think only has 730 HP and GT63S with Brabus 700 package. I am really hoping to add to that collection with the Palm Beach auction this year!! The GT63s/Brabus 700 is such an all around great car.

Pretty Country in its own right...I used to swim in Belt Creek when Dad was stationed at Malmstrom AFB. It was big enough to be a "city" then, seeing that sign made me smile 😃

Great video, bought mine 2 years ago with 17k on the clock it’s not got 40k!. These cars need to be driven, watch out for the ac compressor. Most expensive thing is the brick discs and pads that cost 3k. Apart from that no issues what so ever, it’s my daily. I think I’ll keep it forever, like you said they won’t make any V8’s like this anymore!

Dang that 78 z28 for 25k was a steal. Like the other day I saw a Maserati with nearly no miles on it sell for just over 15k. Some people score great deals. I gotta go sometime when I’m ready to buy my next car. Seems like fun and maybe I’ll find a score.

Normally,they aren't wrong. A lot of automotive knowledge in the B-J crew. But at 1:39:20,April says second gen c10s were the first with auto trans. I don't know just how rare they were, pretty rare in my experience,but in 1973 my dad bought a sweet 1966 C10 that was positively loaded for the time. It had power steering,power brakes, a 283 backed by a power glide auto trans and Air conditioning. Most pickups had a six banger and and three on the tree and not a single option. It was the first vehicle I ever drove, I loved it and I hated when he sold it too.😢
Some of these ladies know wot fast cars really r. Specially the ones with the mclarens. Those r proper supercars. Their electrics might fail at some point but the engineering in a mclaren is second to none n its all handling n capability

I personally prefer listening to the auctioneers. I know that it might be an unpopular opinion to hold, but some of the auctioneers that sell for barrett Jackson are arguably the best in the business. Shane Ratliff and Billy Peyton are my personal favorites.

@@jonathanp935I gotta say… I hate to call you weird… but being so okay with the auctioneers you know their name is marching that direction lol. I turned on one playback that just had the auctioneer and it agitated every molecule of my being down to the sub-atomic. How that caught on I can’t say for certain but I assume they legitimately were calling out bids rapidly and it devolved into this. But to say it’s unnecessary is an understatement.

Wow. The back bumper on that Pinto was an actual production “design”. Ummmm, how, in the name of god, did a committee of decision makers, who ultimately sign off on the products that you and I see, all agree, or not agree, that the rear bumper on a 1980 Pinto was satisfactory as presented in this video? There isn’t just no style, it’s just a flat piece of…..I guess plastic, to fill in between the body and the rear edge of the bumper, and that distance is simply comical. It almost looks to be so far from the body that there might be a purpose, like a spare tire, a Continental kit, a rear steer hook and ladder trailer, or a hose reel. (Get it? Fire suppression might be needed?). Yeah I know that was supposedly remedied years prior. And on that note, consider that all of the 65-71 Fairlanes/Torinos and Mustangs/Cougars had what was easily the greatest and smartest cost cutting idea of all times-if the gas tank is going to be in the trunk(al) area(!), and said gas tank is going to be situated into a flat-like position, then it can DOUBLE, yes I said double folks, killing the proverbial two birds with one stone on paper but in the-field, killing a family of four, or two teenage virgin lovebirds who have avoided any thoughts of consequences, not from the infant producing coitus, but from the eminent coitus interruptous extraordinaire. Their love was as so many tongues licking the body, aflame with oxygen in short supply, and the heat from their bodies the very least of their concerns. Had they known that Ford had intended to actually SAVE the lovebirds from conceiving a child at too young of an age, in a world aflame with careless design, greedy safety concessions, and the most successful individuals being shining examples of irresponsibility and ruthless morality obliteration. The world owes a debt of gratitude to Ford for that trunk floor that doubles as the gas tank. It saves weight off of the rear axle for maximum drag racing madness, and decreases that stiff and rigid ride by using fewer parts and less fasteners, and since the trunk floor is now much heavier gauge steel, you can put your briquette grill right in the trunk with little to lots of fear of any heat or flames bringing on a memorable evening alight with good food and lightened trunk lids in a sooty shade of black. Innovation. That committee earned every penny they squeezed out of our collective longevity.

I don’t think women are worse at *driving* in any way… but I do think they have far less courtesy for the drivers around them statistically speaking. 7/10 when you see someone tailgating it’s a younger woman. The other 3 are 17-28 year old dudes in cars they think are fast or have horrendously made into a “drift car”, a wild eyed middle aged man who just had a “bad” day…. Which happens to be Every day, and me when I’m continuously leaving late for work and blaming traffic for my tardiness.

Great video. I have a 2022 Metro that has been giving me fuel pump issues. Now my pump is in gas tank. It doesn't always turn on after I turn key. I can't bring it to dealer and I never ket it sit. It starts intermittently and this started in the warm weather. 😢 I am really upset over this because its my only ride and nobody in this tiwn works in them. Not even two years old and I'm still paying the damn thing off
