On 30th March 2020, Austrian Airlines operated the longest flight they have done. Operating as AUA1457 and by OE-LPD a Boeing 777-200ER nicknamed "Spirit of Austria" and carrying the "My sound of Austria" livery flew 17 hours and 55 minutes direct from Vienna to Sydney to pick up stranded Austrian tourists. This aircraft is due to return to Vienna the next day but with a stopover in Penang, Malaysia. Its alway good to see another European carrier at Sydney Airport as British Airways is the only European carrier with a daily service between Australia and Europe.

Australia used to have Swiss, Alitalia, Lufthansa even Austrian. Buy seems nowadays people have to do stop overs or change planes. I rather go on a direct flight. Thanks to the Airbus A350 Australia's Qantas can now fly all the way to Frankfurt, Rome, Madrid, London and New York non stop. (There's a few other routes but I can't remember. All this in addition to Qantas's usual flight routes). I follow Sam Chui and he explains everything. He even tried Qantas flight from New York to Sydney non stop flight (I think, or was it London? You're gonna have to search it up of you want to watch: Sam Chui Qantas longest flight)

I believe Austrian is only doing 1 repatriation flight to Sydney. LOT Polish Airlines flown in twice to pick up Polish tourists however both have come in at inconvenient times so I haven't been able to get either. But I have my hopes that there will be more repatriation flights into Sydney
