Cello + Lubadh // Ambient exploration using strings with the Instruo Lubadh

- This week’s patch video features the @instruo Lubadh, onto which I recorded a simple string chord progression using the a strings VST. I have a few of their VST’s and absolutely love them, and they make a great companion to the Lubadh, where I can record interesting loops and put them onto the Lubadh’s USB for exploration and manipulation in eurorack! I also added some pleasing synthetic wave sounds using the venerable Mutable Plaits going through the @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC Mimeophon. I was pretty happy with the results on this patch, with some nice ambient textures, and I especially enjoyed the way Beads and Monsoon interacted with the strings loops! Anyway as always, sit back and enjoy and please, let me now what you thought of the patch! MM.

@@megamodularis I’m close to pulling the trigger on the Lub .. it looks deep, which is of course a good thing. My aim is to combine this with a Bitbox … long term goal lol
@@draconianrhythms Ah nice! yeh it's good to have some ideas about where you want your case/rack to go, which direction etc, do you have anything similar to the Lubadh? like a Morphagene? (i know they're not really 'similar' but there is some crossover between the two I'd say) I'm a big fan of both, though I'm using the Morphagene more at the moment!
@@megamodularis really, that’s interesting, maybe I should look more at the Morph 🤔 the reel to reel concept (on the Lub) does appeal to me; I’ve owned an OP-1, and I’m also from the era of tape haha, so that workflow sounds nice. But the morphagene - Tim from Podular Modcast talks about it often too.. to be honest I’m being drawn to sample-based music currently, and Instruo looks like such a primo brand 🙂
@draconianRhythms Yeh, it's a difficult decision to make between the two, I'm fortunate to have both! and they're both quite deep and capable, with some cross over, but there's definitely enough with each that you can't do with the other too! And that's cool! I've always been drawn to the Op-1 seems like such an amazing & compact instrument 😀
I am consideering building a modular setup and would really like to incorporate Spitfire Audio samples into the mix. Can you explain how you got the string sounds playing here?
Hi there, sure! basically in order to do this you have to have a Disting EX which has a sample instrument as one of its applets, and it has pre-installed a series of Spitfire (and others) sampled instruments that can then be CV controlled and played, As far as i know this is the only way (that doesn't infringe spitfire's use terms) this is the most straightforward way, you could of course use something like a morphagene and record & play a sample from a spitfire instrument onto it and then manipulate it, (I do this a lot too, and is perfectly fine according to spitfires use terms etc) but this is less CV controlled in the straightforward sense, i hope this is helpful, and apologies for the late reply friend!
Hi, I really enjoy your work. As a result I bought a lubadh v2. I can’t figure out how to connect/install/use the usb expander and can’t find good instructions anywhere. Could you help me or point to a good reference?thanks.
Hey, and thankyou! I can explain how to do it- basically the usb wire that comes with the expander goes in place of the USB stick found on the back of the module (obviously do all this whilst everything is powered off) and from memory the other end of that wire connects to the back of the expander panel, and then you plug in the usb stick into the front of the panel, I hope that makes sense?
