They are going to make as much money as they can in the short time they have left. And this isn’t a bad thing. It’s a good thing for the environment. I encourage you to read the latest IPCC report. We need to push these gasoline prices as high as we can to get people out of the number two polluter which is SUVs and light trucks. At $5 a gallon people still are not changing their driving habits. This current world situation looks just like history (the 1970's) repeating itself all over again. There was a war still going on in Vietnam in the early 70's. We had another terrible Democrat president in Jimmy Carter in the mid to late 70's. Saudi Arabia was upset with the USA, so OPEC placed an oil "embargo" on us, causing an oil shortage, which made oil and gasoline prices skyrocket. Inflation (especially food and housing) was through the roof, and mortgage interest rates were around an astronomical 12%. People were being forced out of their big cars and trucks, and into the new suddenly "popular" economical Japanese compacts. Should I go on? Does any of this sound familiar? Those of you that are too young to remember/know, or don't study history, probably are not aware that this has all happened before. The difference now is that the USA used to be an "isolationist" country, and now we are part of a "world economy." This crap in the world is effecting EVERYONE, and the USA is now seeing prices and inflation that the rest of the world has been dealing with for many decades. Especially gasoline and diesel prices. I am not in any way saying that any of this is at all good. I am just saying that this USA, and world economic situation, has happened before, and it will happen again. Only this time we have an even more inept president than Jimmy Carter, in Joe Biden, in Charge. The problem with Biden and all of his corrupt Democrat cronies is that that they are all (immorally and borderline illegally) very heavily invested in the "green" agenda (stocks) and its accompanying technology. Even senile Potato Joe himself admited that this is all just a "transition" to a greener world. Yes, we need to "transition" to more environmentally sound sources of power and transportation in the future. However, there is not some "magic" switch that can be flipped and we will all be happily "green" tomorrow. This transition is going to take time, money and effort on everyone's part, and not everyone wants (or can afford) to drive the latest "fad" Tesla, or put solar panels on their roof, or a windmill in their backyard. Right now, a big answer to this terrible situation in the USA is to vote all of these corrupt idiots out of office in June and November. Career politicians have become to complacent and narcissistic. They forget that they represent the people and work for them, not the other way around. It is time for term limits and age limits for ALL politicians. Unfortunately, we still have almost 2 more years of Potato Joe, unless congress invokes the 25th amendment. However, that leaves inept Harris and corrupt Pelosi as Biden's successors. No thanks! I am not sure what the overall solution is going to be that will fix this mess America is currently in. However, the first step is for everyone to stop pointing fingers at each other and taking sides. There is corruption on both sides of the the political spectrum. The citizens themselves just need to find some agreeable common ground to take a stand on and meet somewhere in the middle. That is the only logical way that we are going to fix this huge mess that we are in. That is just my two cents on the current economic situation. Agree or not, it is the plain TRUTH. Peace out everyone! 🙂

Speaking from experience on the issue, there is no shortage of oil or fuel, which means the price of fuel is being purposely manipulated to be as high as it is. The price way out distances inflation. This is a major case of greed and political manipulation by the left to force Americans to buy electric cars. I personally see this as a crime against humanity because of the mass burdens it is creating along with the destruction of so many lives that depended on affordable fuel. I also see it as a major threat to national security. Tens of millions will inevitably be laid off from this. If we suffer in the U.S., the suffering in the rest of the free world will be even worse and in some cases, far worse. This is an unforgiveable crime since the transition to electric cars was already taking place. It didn't need to be forced. Levying a 20 cent tax on gasoline when it was 2 dollars a gallon, to create the funds for the infrastructure needed for electric cars, would have been far more acceptable by the majority of Americans over what we are experiencing now. Democrats do not make good leaders because they lack common sense reasoning and never think things out.

The bigger problem is Refining capacity. 11 Refineries have permanently closed since COVID. Another 300K barrel per day Lyondell Basell Refinery in Louisiana is tagged to close at the end of 2023. The Government has created an Environment that guarantees high fuel prices going forward by forcing Oil Companies to not invest in refining Facilities. They will be eliminated faster than Electric can take over causing a permanent shortage and thus higher prices in Motor fuels.
