8 days after getting out of the army after a 4-year stint I smoked weed for the very first time - this was on TV that night, and this is what I watched - nothing has been the same ever since
David Letterman was the best person to talk and deal with children. He just seemed real natural and funny with the kids. Putting them at ease in a funny way. I’ve secretly been in love with David Letterman for more than 50 years. He doesn’t know I’m alive but, I know he’s alive that’s really all that matters. 😂❤
Letterman embracing the hand he was dealt with the out of control little kid was brilliant. He played off it and made the whole segment hilarious. He was a Master.
@@NormAppleton most six year olds don’t have a 60 year old uncle. Maybe a grandparent, but their aunts and uncles and likely 30-40, like their parents.
The kids were cute and even funny. Dave should get an award for making great humor out of really awkward situations, plus the way he treated the kids was tops. But i bet he wished he had a fly swatter for the jumping bean.
ALL of the kids were GREAT!.. They're KIDS!.. And Letterman's way of talking to/dealing with each of them is a beautiful thing to behold.. I cant get enough of this clip!..
He escaped and will grow up having parents that coddle him and think he’s great. They’ll be on Dr Phill pleading for help. Still living with his mom. Dad left years ago. No job, drug addiction. Not good at anything except video games. Wind up going postal killing his parents first then school mates.
I remember the Crispon Glover clip.He did a karate kick and Dave went to commercial. When they came back on Crispen was gone.Dave also had an interesting interview with Cher. She didn't like Dave but in the end she seemed to like him better
Just like with the audience, the first kid had me laughing SO much. I have watched this video now a few times since a few days ago just to laugh hysterically, specially at his joke, but also all his actions combined including his minute laugh right before his punchline, he knowing some mischief was coming. And yes, the little bitty girl was so adorable, and then her going next to the older girl and holding hands was also special.
The girl with the red shirt I think should be the winner. The boy in the green shirt by now is probably hosting a late night show somewhere on this planet.
Dave could make anything funny, and he was brilliant with kids. His Halloween shows were always hilarious. And those kids were adorable. Well, MOST of them.
When television was at its finest, I remember watching Letterman almost every night I watch Letterman and I love this segment when he brings the kids on and they tell jokes or either showing him like and what they invented that’s when kids were kids just so innocent and Funny and fun things were so much better back then now all kids do is watch Kim Kardashian and listen to Drake and they’re on their TikTok and Instagram and wear sweatpants to school and oversize jackets and boots. I don’t know and they’re in some of them are really rude actually Anyways best television ever letterman I got the opportunity to see Letterman live in New York City many many many years ago it was so awesome.
How things were in the nineties in US. Now all these things exist only in comments on social media. This would never fly on our such PC airwaves in 2022. Man I miss Letterman.
The developmental difference between six-yr-old boys and six-yr-old girls is immense. Dave was actually amazing with young Peter. I only wish I had had his brilliant sense of humor and timing when I was teaching! 😂😂😂❤️💥
The kindergarten girl was the best. She rolled with the punches and remembered her lines. She even seemed precious. The "snowballs" kid was the worse. You're either a kid or you're not.
That first little boy that won’t stand still is like the nephew who turns up at your house with his mum and dad and you pretend not to be in! It’s imperative you’ve locked your front door though, cos that little shit will sure try the door fo sho!

How sweet, the little girl is holding hands with the older girl.
right?
I saw that and thought it was just adorable. So nervous and she had an older (maybe new) friend to be there for her!
The kids are all adorable. Well, there's that one kid...
I so missed that lol cute.

Peter's parents: We'll be back Thursday to pick up Peter. Good Luck!
Ha ha!
Alana Jacobs is brilliant in this video. She guides Dave through the joke with a lot of poise. And it is not an easy joke to tell. Very impressive.
Kept right on subject, and was committed to seeing the joke through. Very impressive.
She's the next Bernadette Peters!

Agreed, she's the star of the bit. Fascinated to know what she does now.
Sounds like you're all related to her. How's she doing? She'd be in her mid-30s now.

Yes... that's why we miss Letterman. He is brilliant.
Peter is the kid that you never invite to your house.
Or the kid u didn’t invite but somehow manages to show up anyway. I’ll bet his parents think that there is nothing wrong with him.
wtf is wrong with you ??? 😳
only because every person on this earth is a clone of you
Little Peter is the reason I didn't have kids.
I hope Peter never lost his enthusiasm or confidence but dialed the rest back a notch or two.
I'm exhausted just watching the first kid, lol wow
The joke about the little man is just world class. Ooh my God.
She gave me Norm Macdonald vibes somehow
the little girl's joke was great!!
I'm so stealing it

Perhaps the funniest clip I have ever seen. "Is mom always tired...?"
He knew it. She was. Yet she raised a great kid. Grew up to be a open heart surgeon.
The invisible man one was good. She committed to it lol
And that little girl grew up to be Amy Schumer.
That joke was something her 60 year old uncle told. She did it well though.

might be my favorite clip of all time. "Is mom tired all the time....?" 😂🤦♂️
Dave was great with kids. Glad he had a son.
So true... and kids liked him too. Linkletter had a knack. But Letterman? He always got the best out of ‘em.

“Is Mom tired all the time?”
Perfect match between that kid and Dave
