I know this sounds unlikely, but give this a go. I can tentatively confirm it works. My right bud was considerably quieter than the left. I sucked until I could feel air flowing through the smaller speaker, and sure enough, they had the same volume. Thankfully, I didn’t inhale any wax. 😅

Thank you. Not sure if this option worked or if the heavy cleaning I did fixed. Still little low but muuuch louder. Also if anyone tries to clean them out, try to be very careful. It was working fine a bit. Then I went cleaned it again and now has a busted speaker but it’s not bad at all. Working fine. Thanks. And also that is a great option. Never would have seen the audio visual thing . Or knew what it was. Had iPhone for years and still learning things.

guys, go into settings, then into accessibility, then into audio/visual, then there should be a scale going from “R to “L” corresponding to left and write. play some music with your airpods in and then swipe the circle to where it sounds equal.
you might have slightly quieter volume overall but it’s good to have equal noise !!

If one of your airpods is quiter than the other and everything you have done doesn’t work, do the following (I know it sounds ridiculous but trust me, IT WORKS): suck the airpod from the bigger speaker until you feel air flowing and then wipe the surface gently with a cloth or something. Repeat 2 times if needed and try them out again. I know it sounds funny but just try it, it worked for me :)

If this doesn’t work do what I did. Make sure u clean the quieter one really good. Then you want to put your mouth over where the sound comes from and suck. I know it sounds weird but it actually worked. The ear wax won’t get in your mouth so don’t worry. Keep sucking until the sound is normal again.

My left was lower than right. What seemed to fix problem for me was go to settings then accessibility find audio/visuals and in that turn on headphone accommodations. When i turned that on balanced tone was ticked in that and i think thats what solved problem

None of these tips worked for me BUT I just fixed both my left AirPod (I wear that one solo most of the time) and my teen daughter’s right one (which she wore solo most of the time) with an old, dry toothbrush. I pressed the bristles into the holes and gently moved it all around for a few minutes, getting in all 3 speaker holes. Both are back to normal now 🤗
Lesson learned: Ear wax...we’ve all got it and it comes from precisely where these little suckers are going, no matter how “hygienic” or old you are 😜

Sharing what personally did the trick for me - Took an old toothbrush head and placed it on my electric toothbrush and gently cleaned out the main speaker grill on my right AirPod and now it’s working as good as new! Did this after removing any larger pieces of earwax with a toothpick which didn’t fix the problem initially.
THIS WORKED FOR ME bro ur a life saver they have been like that since I got them but I tried the electric toothbrush thing and they sound normal finally ur a saint

I recently slammed into a pole at full speed on my bike and was sent flying into pavement which hurt like hell. I had some road burn and a lot of bruising and scratching but after I got bandaged up and headed home I noticed my right airpod was much louder than the left one. This video fixed the problem and I’m glad there working again. Probably will get some new ones soon tho because these ones are approaching that age mark when apple products usually start going down hill. Which might be the case. I just used a toothbrush and gently brush the left AirPod (1st gen) and it work. I thought they were getting older and useable but they are working as it should.

If one of the headphones has a weaker sound than the other,
First thing, start cleaning the grille from wax
Then put the place where the sound comes out, which is the grille in your mouth, and start suctioning hard
Repeat it more than once and see if the sound returns to the same as the first or not

So at first when i did the sucking trick where you tried to bring it to the surface it wasnt working then i forgot i had this kit from best buy or you can get it on a amazon it was an airpod cleaning kit and i used a bristle brush that came with it and then it fixed it

Okay y’all I fixed my issue by legitimately sucking on the quiet AirPod. I cleaned it well, sanitized it and then I sucked from the narrow part that goes into the ear. It literally worked.
If you go into your settings and accessibility audio/visual there is a balancing slider and put it more towards the quieter AirPod

WTF BRO IT WORKED!
The way to fix this is to use a toothpick, cotton swabs and some alcohol
1. Use a dry cotton swab to take out most of the earwax inside the main speaker
2. Use a toothpick and GENTLY scrub the grate/front speaker and the other grate or speaker thats near the sensor until you get out most of the earwax
3. Lastly, get a new piece of cotton swab and put a little bit of alcohol and clean the front speaker, if you put too much alcohol, use the other side of the cotton swab to dry it
This was the method i used to fix this issue, hopefully it helps

The best thing to do is go to accessibility and you can adjust the AirPods by making the right AirPod slightly lower so it can even out with the left.. it worked for me.. go to accessibility and audio-visual and scroll down and you’ll see a left and right balance.. that should do the job. If the left AirPod is lower than the right just just imbalance the right AirPod so it can match the same sound.. there’s also a sound you play to test it out. I hope that works

I looked it up. All you have to do (at least the solution for me) is to get a soft bristle toothbrush and brush it gently on the AirPod that is quieter then suck the AirPod (Ik it sounds weird but trust me😂) then gently brush it again and it should work.
