Describing how I go about learning guitar solos on electric violin. Featured in this video is my cover of Eddie Van Halen’s solo in Beat It by Michael Jackson.
You're a great musical talent. It's a sad state of affairs that you have to prove your talent to some folks. I love your work. You're fantastic. Thank you for sharing your gift.
cant really blame ppl these days tho, so much fakeness, even their faces can be a silicon mask, with all these new apps u just cannot tell anymore what u are looking at. so dont judge too harshly.
I can’t believe anyone nitpicks that Eruption solo. IT WAS AMAZING. I cant believe the tone you got. Closer than many guitarists I’ve heard. You keep rockin’. “If you can sing it you can play it” was a rule when I studied and performed jazz in college. I feel many guitarists could learn from you…especially this video.
What an incredible musician. WOW.. I’m in total admiration to your dedication to your craft. This is much easier to emulate on guitar than violin. Mind blowing !!
Thank you for your post. I think you’re a musical genius. You must be. It’s amazing that you are able to quickly understand the mechanics and structure of what you’re hearing. Very impressive.
Awesome video explanation, thanks for going through the time to do this. You are amazingly talented and Eddie would be impressed! Thanks for keeping his music alive!
I’m a self taught guitarist. I’ve also been a sound reinforcement engineer. I have however been out of it for more then 30 years and still, I could tell you were legit playing eruption and you absolutely did it justice. In fact I did comment on your rendition of it. Quite frankly I never thought that it could be done. You proved me oh so wrong. Technology has improved greatly since my day of analog devices.
I could never achieve your skill, your knowledge is amazing, the work you have to do to replicate a peice of music and your understanding of the technology needed to get the sound right. Your absolutely amazing.
I like your attention to how you want to sound like a guitar and actually sonically recreate the solo itself. That's cool! Your solos sound really awesome! 🎸
❤ Wowwwwww, very, very impressive, and very, very amazing talent! Ohhhh, wowwww! I really love hearing and watching you giving instructions of the song!!! Your violin playing, is very, very amazing!!! Hope you have a wonderful day! ❤
So glad I found your channel. Like you, I started playing violin young (5 years old -- yeah, the whole Asian thing), classically trained, blah blah blah, but switched to guitar in high school, and haven't owned a violin since my main violin was stolen in the mid-90's. I fully agree with you about violin players trying to cover guitar solos -- they sound like they're played on a violin. Which is fine, because if one wanted to sound like a guitar, why not just play a guitar? BUT -- there are sounds that are better produced on a violin, and might make the solos even better than the original. Creating sustain effects on a guitar is something takes a lot of effort on a guitar, and it's built-in to the violin! I don't have a Helix, but I already own a Boss GT-100 which is similar -- lots of model simulations already built-in. So I haven't bought an electric violin to get back into the violin world yet, but great to see that people like you are already far along the path to merging the two instruments. Great video!
I play electric guitar, I know I'm a bit off-topic, but I remember how surprised I was when I got the chance to hear a cello played by a professional in my sitting room, right in front of me: the amount of harmonics that were coming out of that instrument! It really sounded like a close relative to a distorted electric guitar...
This is awesome!! Interesting and informative🎉🎉🎉🎉 Fun to watch😊 You are an extremely talented musician🎉🎉🎉🎉 Hope to see you in a live performance someday!!! Keep on Rockin'🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸❤😁
Musicians who watched your Facebook video know that it is you playing by watching your left hand vibrato and also the effects are what bring your electric violin to sound like it did playing the classic Time from Pink Floyd which I loved .
I'll have to keep some of this in mind whenever I get my 6 string back from the luthier. I was trying to play the 1st solo on iron man and it was definitely a case of playing all the right notes but it still just sounded "wrong".
First of all, you dont have to prove no one about your playing. Second, that is a really sick looking violin. Third, fantastic playing as well. 😊 👍 🔥 ❤
That’s pretty sick! I wonder what a little foam would sound like, under the strings behind the bridge and at the headstock? Maybe even a fret wrap? The bow picking sounds rad!
Recently discovered you and since you've blown my mind more than once. After watching Eruption and this video my first thought was Dream Theater/John P/ Train og Thought. Imho a couple of his most scorching solos on As I Am and Stream of Consciousness. Keep rocking \m/
My granddaughter is just learning viola at 11 yrs.old. would love to get her an electric violin. Saw some on Amazon.. Is it worth a try. I've been playing guitar for 57 yrs. Have bought a few instruments with great success. Tia!!! Your wonderful by the way!!!
No Oh Susana, camptown ladies, Orange blossom special, Devil went down to Georgia😂 On the cool ... Just keep doing what you do. Unless you create, people don't know that 3 seconds of work can take three hours. Very creative.
This lady is a great talent, and I, like many on this video platform, am quite impressed with her work on that instrument. And it is the instrument I wish to comment on. There have been hybrid instruments before, but when does one stop being what it originally was? To me, this is a seven string, short scale, fretted guitar that is played with a bow. I have not been able to determine string tuning. It is bowed from chin level, and it seems this is the only trait it has in common with the classic violin. American Heritage dictionary defines a violin thus: violin /vī″ə-lĭn′/ noun 1. A stringed instrument played with a bow, having four strings tuned at intervals of a fifth, an unfretted fingerboard, and a shallower body than the viol and capable of great flexibility in range, tone, and dynamics. 2. A small instrument with four strings, played with a bow; a fiddle. Similar: fiddle 3. A musical four-string instrument, generally played with a bow or by plucking the string. Pitch is set by pressing the strings at the appropriate place with the fingers. Note that all three definitions mention four strings, and the first mentions the tuning. What is the consensus here - guitar or violin?
I don't know what your talking about not tech savvy. But you sound FRKN bad ass. Please keep posting your videos.do you take requests ??? So much music to explore thank you
I was blessed to have a concert violinist in a rock band. And yes it's possible. He had a distortion, pedal, Wha pedal, everything and he was amazing. It was a pleasure playing with that dude... Wait pause that didn't sound right...😅😅😅
Wonder if picking the Strings, muted or not, could give you more attack controle over the notes, tones. Sounds are great though. Expressive playing. Great solo🎉Ty

I'm not sure if many people understand how difficult it is to play an EVH finger tapping guitar solo on a violin, but you did a great job
Your so cool.....i love this....

Among others,
Pink Floyd coming back to life I do on my harmonicas ..
Thank You 🌹

I was blessed to have a concert violinist in a rock band. And yes it's possible. He had a distortion, pedal, Wha pedal, everything and he was amazing. It was a pleasure playing with that dude... Wait pause that didn't sound right...😅😅😅

You Rock 👏👍🤘🎶🎵
Wow! Who knew ! 😮
you are a great violinist I follow you
WHat I want to know is how do you "mimic" the "pinch harmonic" sound on your violin.
did you add frets , or are they stock on that voilin???
Can do like a fuzz effect into a reverse reverb? That would be pretty sweet.
