Thank you for the video. I perfected them after watching your video twice. Definitely the best video on youtube for scallops. Right to the point, thanks.
Scallops are my favourite too and it can be a pain to get them cooked just right! Looks fantastic and lol at the thumbs up still shot. Your wife has good taste.
Thank you!! I like to keep it simple this video was perfect for me. Im cooking dirty rice, Cod fish, Scallops, cabbage kale salad with toasted buttery English muffins.
Thank-you for this video I'm cooking scallops tonight for my Partners special Birthday meal as a main as he requested them because he has never had them before and always wanted to try them, I've had them but never cooked them. This explained it so well I'm a lot less scared and more confident with what i need to do. Wish me luck. :)
Just bought some scallops and definitely going to use this cooking method! P.S. Love your pottery! The yellow prep plate looks like it's gas fired and Woo Yellow glaze...💕
lol when your video first started running I wanted to know why your pan was silver. Then the light glare changed and it turned to black. I was scared at first. But I'm okay now. The video was great too!!!
First of all, very nice job! :) Very delicious appearance. Now then, safety warning: You can _not_ do this with Teflon. Actually, you _should not_ ever bring Teflon coats, or any low to mid grade non-stick pans made with this material, to high temperature smoke points. This is because the anti-stick molecular material can usually destabilize and bond with your food. Teflon toxicity causes polymer fume fever, which can also cause mildly-intense serious influenza-like syndrome. Do not ever bring mid-grade, or lower non-stick (Teflon) to a smoking heat.
I am a beginner cooking. I bought frozen scallops today from the local market and want to try this tomorrow, but I don't have any butter or margarine on hand. Do you think they will turn out okay with just olive oil in a teflon like pan? I do have some garlic paste that I could add if you think I need to. Please let me know what you think. Thanks for such a basic recipe. These are the type that help build my confidence in the kitchen.
Thanks so much for your reply. I am excited to try this. I will let you know how it turns out with just the olive oil. This is the perfect thing to fix when I am too tired and want something nutritious in a hurry.
I just started this video and will restart, but I have a question. I cook on cast iron a lot. Almost exclusively. Mostly beef though. Do you find that cooking seafood in your cast iron imparts a seafood taste to your skillet, or do you use your certain pieces of your cast iron separate for seafood? Thanks!
Al Machado, I use cast iron for pretty much everything I want a good sear on. I never have a problem with the taste. as long as you give it a Good Rub with salt after you heat up the pan a little to open the pours, then the usual wipe down with oil or bacon greese, and wipe clean.
I added this to watch later so if I ever have to cook scallops I can know how and they look so DELICIOUS! Also if u like PIZZA give this comment a like! All hail the goodness of scallops and 🍕!
You forgot to take the side muscle off one of them. I take that back. You forgot to take the side muscle off several of them. Those things are tough and rubbery when left on scallops.
Thank you for the video. I perfected them after watching your video twice. Definitely the best video on youtube for scallops. Right to the point, thanks.
I want to make them, my mouth watered just looking at her eat it. 😂 thank you for sharing.❤
What a delicious recipe for this dish cooked and scallops!
Amen to "perfect the way they are." It's a taste unlike anything else, and it's complete as is. Overcook them, and they become hockey pucks.
Hockey pucks suck.
That's my kind of cooking, they look perfect ! Thanks for sharing Dave & Liz
Thanks Greg!
Scallops are my favourite too and it can be a pain to get them cooked just right! Looks fantastic and lol at the thumbs up still shot. Your wife has good taste.

The salad looks good to
Thank you!
some people say don’t put pepper on it beforehand for some reason. I guess it’s just a personal choice. Same with lemon

I'm sorry, I kind of dozed off there for a moment. Did you say something?
Exactly right
what a great husband, cooking for his wife. the Scallops looked good.
Thank you Gloria...I clean (half the time) as well.
What temperature?

I see no reason why that wouldn't work. Just take the time to "pat-dry" the scallops. That's really important.
Thanks so much for your reply. I am excited to try this. I will let you know how it turns out with just the olive oil. This is the perfect thing to fix when I am too tired and want something nutritious in a hurry.
So for those people who are dairy-free, I tried this with just olive oil and they turned out fine.
Good!

Do you find that cooking seafood in your cast iron imparts a seafood taste to your skillet, or do you use your certain pieces of your cast iron separate for seafood? Thanks!
+Al Machado I've never noticed it, but we don't do seafood int he cast iron frequently at all.
Al Machado,
I use cast iron for pretty much everything I want a good sear on.
I never have a problem with the taste. as long as you give it a Good Rub with salt after you heat up the pan a little to open the pours, then the usual wipe down with oil or bacon greese, and wipe clean.
Once you put them in the pan leave them alone. Do not move them until you turn them over because you want that golden brown "crust" that adds flavor.
I added this to watch later so if I ever have to cook scallops I can know how and they look so DELICIOUS! Also if u like PIZZA give this comment a like! All hail the goodness of scallops and 🍕!
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi. My six-year-old son and I loved your tutorial. He has a question about the name of the jazz piece you as background music. Do you know it? :-)
J Sui generis I'm sorry, I don't know. :-(
You forgot to take the side muscle off one of them. I take that back. You forgot to take the side muscle off several of them. Those things are tough and rubbery when left on scallops.
We thought they were delicious.
