Your 'La Blouse' is going to SENSATIONAL!! xx
Thanks lovely x
You have made some lovely garments Becs. Thanks for this vlog, very helpful. Xx
I am glad it was helpful x
Gorgeous makes. Totally know what you mean about Rachel’s blouse. I asked her to gift it to me but she was rude and said NO 😂😂😂. Thanks for joining in the challenge 😊
Pffft, I’ve got it under lock and key 😂
@@StitchedUp 😂😂
Haha 😂 I would have done the same xx
So lovely!!! I think I might need to jump on the Marnie train after avoiding it for so long 😂😂
You definitely should you would look fabulous! Just size down xx
Loving that floral fabric Bec, it’s stunning cannot wait to see that made up, Deb 🪡🧵💕
Thank you x
Great blouse ideas, thanks Becki. I love the look of the Marnie, the oversized fit puts me off a bit but yours look so lovely that I definitely want to try it sized down. Love your blouse plan, can’t wait see how that turns out. Also love the red top you’re wearing, it suits you so much 😍
Thanks honey, the top I was wearing was the Monroe turtle neck in a viscose jersey x
Thank you for showing us all your Marni blouses. I'm not sure what to make yet, but I'm leaning towards the Patina blouse as I loved the look of yours. I absolutely love the floral fabric with the purple in it.
the Patina is beautiful .. I just made one.. there is a tutorial on YT and it is really quite easy to put together
Thank you, I think I also inspired myself to cut out a patina 😂
@@cindy7702 Thank you Cindy. I'll have a look on YT.
You are very talented. All your makes are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you x
i’ve just made La Blouse in a Rachel inspired pink and red viscose and it is truly divine - you’ll love making yours in that gorgeous fabric - can’t wait to see it made up
I didn’t even know this was a challenge and I’ve been wanting to make a viscose Patina Blouse! I like the ideas of the elastic sleeve band and extending the bodice.
I’m glad that I have brought this to your attention 😊 x
Thank you for this video Bec, I now have to make a decision on which one to try 😂
I’m not really a blouse wearer but I do want to try and participate in this challenge 😊
There are other blouses out there like the remy raglan… which is more of a T-shirt if your not a blouse wearer? Might be more suited x
Lovely makes❤
Thank you x
Great ideas and thanks for sharing, I love the look of the FPC Patina Blouse, I think I am going to have to buy that one!
Check out the post from cloth edit, I am pretty sure there is a discount on this pattern this month x
Some fab ideas there Bec, thank you. I’m watching while I make up a Remy Reglan which I’m hoping counts as a blouse 🤞 xx
I would say it does I debated on including my makes that I shared x
Well having seen this I have this morning cut out the Lyra to copy your hack as I loved it. Thanks for the inspiration
Oooo yay, I am so pleased I have inspired you… hopefully your pattern placement is so much better than mine 😂 x
Great plans. Both your fabrics are gorgeous- especially the floral one with the purple. I do make and love blouses but must be the only person in the sewing world not to have a Marni 😂😂😂😂. Look forward to seeing your makes. 😊 Happy Sewing to you too. Lynne
😊 I think this pattern is a marmite pattern to some people x
@@whatbecsews I actually like it but have the Atelier Jupe Emma blouse which is similar- and given the price of patterns getting the Marnie seemed a bit indulgent when I can spend that money on fabric! 😊
Your shirt dress changed into a shirt. It's beautiful.
That blue V neck top is nice.❤❤❤
I haven't either! 😂
What a lovely selection. Think I will try the hack of the lyra x
It’s a lovely hack x
Love your La Blouse idea - the fabric looks perfect. I also think the Patina really suits you. I have both these on my radar now.❤
I managed to influence myself into cutting out another patina as well 😂
That was a great vlog Becki, I love all your blouses, the Lyra hack is gorgeous. Can’t wait to see yours made up. I haven’t made my mind up which blouse to make yet there are so many beautiful patterns. ❤❤
There are soooo many which is great but can be tough to decide x
Love love is blouse! Can't wait to see it!!!😍
Thanks hun x
Lovely makes x
Thanks x
Love your selection of patterns! Very inspiring! Really tempted by the Marnie, maybe I'll try another Patina with long sleeves : I really love your dark green one :) (and I must admit that the weather in Belgium is still a little bit cold) I can't wait to see your Atelier Brunette Blouse : you will be absolutely stunning in this! Thanks for these great ideas!
Thanks 😊 x
Thank you for sharing. Watching this while beginning to make a marnie ...yours are lovely ❤
Thank you 😊 x
Your Marnie blouses are so beautiful that I want to get the pattern now lol the cotton version is SO stunning 😍✨️💖!! The "nipples" incident made me laugh so much 😅 but lovely hack to remember for sure! Gorgeous makes as usual xx
Ahhh thanks lovely. You would look fabulous in a Marnie blouse x
so pleased you mentioned the Marnie blouse. I have just bought this and was a bit unsure about what size to make. I am like you and have small shoulders and upper bust, large bust and then larger hips. I have trouble with shoulder fit too. I go for size 5 - 6 with TATB but may now try the size 4.
I would definitely size down by one at least but for me three sizes has worked well, but try a four there is so much room x
Thank you - so so love your fabric’s I just need to buy them all 😅
Thank you x
Really gorgeous selection and your fabric choices are wonderful as ever ! The Marnie blouse is on my list to make very soon - I have double gauze as I saw Ruan The Yorkshire Sew Girl has also made it in double gauze and loved her version too.
Yes Ruan has a few gorgeous Versions x
@@whatbecsews can I ask if you sized down as the finished measurements are quite generous ? I'm considering whether to go down one or even two sizes as I like loose tops but not too oversized !
Fabulous blouses Bec, great vlog, you may even have persuaded me about the Marnie! Your pink/green/orange hack is beautiful but totally understand about the orange nipples, what a shame. Could you dye it a purple colour so the pattern will blend in and maybe you could wear it then? Your short sleeve Patina is fantastic, a real stunner, well done! Also love your Anthea dream, it’s lovely too💕
Ahhh thank you, I am so pleased your going to give the Marnie a go x
You've highlighted such great patterns. I've been thinking about making the Marnie for a while but I have fuller arms and worry the upper sleeve portion might be too tight?! Perhaps I can alter it and might give that a try.
It is fairly lose fitting and easy to grade, there is a fair bit of room in the upper sleeve, maybe a quick toile first? X
Great vlog as always love your blouses and thanks for the inspiration I might take part ❤❤
I think you should it’s a great challenge and there are blouses to suit all 😊 x
Thanks for sharing your blouse patterns. I found a vintage pattern that is similar to the Patina blouse. I might make that one. I love all your versions of the Marnie, but I still don't think it's for me. I did laugh at the nipple blouse. The fabric is fab, but maybe not for a blouse, a skirt might work. I have a few ideas for blouses that I want to make. I love these challenges because they make me take a good look at my fabrics and patterns and get using them.
I’m glad you enjoyed the vlog, I think for most the Marnie is marmite 😊 you either love it or hate it.
Your right these challenges really make you think, I enjoy the planning stage sometimes more than the making 😂
How about putting pockets (do not pattern match) where the orange nipples are to break up the pattern? That way you can wear the shirt you worked so hard on hacking. I have a large bust. I understand. Beautiful makes ❤
If only I had some scraps of the fabric left to do that x
With the blouse with orange nipples, if you have scraps of the same fabric you could sew two vertical strips over that section making sure the pattern interrupts the pattern so it’s maybe going in the reverse direction to look deliberate. I’m thinking about 2cm wide. Just an idea.
Thank you, I enjoyed that immensely. I have made 2 marnie's, the first, I put everything on, but it is too big, the second just the shoulder ruffles, but I sized down and it is much better. Le blouse is my first entry for the challenge. I liked it the moment I saw it and bought the pattern straight away, but hadn't started it. I almost made it up yesterday, but stopped because I couldn't suss out what they want with the button placket.
The patina blouse pattern is printed, but needs an fba, so I will do that if I have time (April is a super busy month for me). The anthea blouse hasn't appealed so far, but I will rethink about it in a viscose because I have never liked the poofy sleeves. The Lyra is on my definitely not list, however, I like what you did with it.
I can see how the FBA would be take a back seat when you are busy. Definitely try it on a viscose it is a game changer, however if you have a large bust, i know not everyone likes the super high neck.
Have you worked out the placket yet? X
@@whatbecsews no, I haven't looked at the placket yet. I am like you in that I am narrow at neck and shoulders then I have a big bust. Then, unlike you, I get wider and wider as you go down the body. So I have found yokes wonderful because I can pick a smaller size for that and my arms, then pick a better size under my arms. I can quite often skip the need for a zip too - woo hoo. I am going to try the pivot method for the fba. Not tried that method yet.
For your Lyra blouse have you thought about a pocket on one side so it’s not the same and might not look like nipples. It’s a beautiful top.
I love the patina blouse. Going to use the tatb mimi blouse from her book to try get the same look. I do need more blouses. I made the marnie dress in a cotton and it is a tent 😂 one for recycling i think. Have you seen stitch fabrics are in chester on 12th and 13th 😮😊
Thank you, I did see that.. how exciting x
Very helpful, thankyou. Xx
Thanks for this inspirational video. Where did you get the pink with red flowers fabric? It’s gorgeous!
Rainbow fabrics x
Thanks for asking the question, the fabric is demanding I buy it, it’s fabulous.
Bec thanks so much for your blogs ❤️🤩
Could you put patch pockets over the ‘nipples’ or would that be too bulky?
I recently re made my marnie blouse. I still didn’t feel it was worth the effort. 😫 the fit was better, as I went down 2 sizes as you recommended. I still took a lot out of the waist too. Not sure I’d make another for now. I do love a blouse though, so will try another one of your suggestions ❤
The Marnie as much as I love it, isn’t for everyone 😊 xx
Great blouse suggestions Becky. I still haven’t made the Marnie 😮
Suggesting nipple cover pockets 😂😂😂
Lol someone else suggested pockets, need to find a fabric x
Hi, thank you I found this really useful, especially the marni blouse information. I just made my first one as a toile and, like you, I am narrow in shoulders and the sleeves were falling off my shoulders! even though I had sized down in the pattern. Can you explain how I can make the shoulder adjustment please? I'm not very experienced but want to get the fit right. Thank you x
Hi, so to make the adjustment i grad between sizes, so for example if you fall as a size 5 (or you happy with the size you have sized down to everywhere else) I would try sizing the top part of the bodice in a size three but grading out to a size 5 on the sleeve, you will also need to do this on the front and back yoke at the size 3.
I hope this makes sense? My Instagram is whatbecsews if it doesn’t pop me a message and I will try and explain it better. Xx
@@whatbecsews thank you so much Bec I think I understand what to do now and will give it a go. Fingers crossed xx
Love your vlogs! Could you add pockets to the hacked top with the poorly placed pattern?
Thank you, I think the pockets are a great idea x
I agree with you re: work attire vs home attire. Once I've worn it to work it is tainted, ahahaha
😂😂😂 glad I’m not the only one x
Beautiful makes, is there a list of the patterns you used?
All in the description lovely.
I love the orange nipple 😂 shirt on you it looks fabulous, definitely your colours, you could if you still have fabric left put a breast pocket on one side or both sides
Could you add a big pocket over the ”nipples” on the Lyra? A really big statement one.
A few suggestions for this 😊
The blouse looks fabulous. Could you put two pockets on it to cover orange spots The could be fake or real pockets
I wad also going to suggest pockets. I have used a pocket in a similarly awkward case and it worked perfectly.
Oooo that’s an amazing idea x
Lovely makes, it’s a shame about your Lyra blouse maybe it would work wearing it open with a vest underneath 🤞🏼😊
The tilly & buttons baby doll blouse does have a n age group I think 25 is top age. The shirt dress would make a great tunic blouse also.. I wear tunics. I think the pink and green is a nice looking blouse. Make patch pockets and cover the unfortunate nipples. A question: (I am new to watching all of you) Can you use a self made pattern or a highly modified commercial pattern in this competition. Or, you limited by using current patterns.
Hi - a self drafted pattern would have been fine fine for the sew April blouse competition , it could have been any blouse.
The competition runs for April only but will be back next year.
Thanks for watching x
💜
xxX👍👍👍
👏🏻👗
Wear a cropped vest over your "nipple" blouse 🙈 , a little black knitted one would be lovely and you'd still see your beautiful fabric.
What a fabulous idea x
I love your nipple’s on the nipples! You always make me 😆 Great ideas Becky and I hope to get something made! I don’t have the Marnie pattern but have many others. I look forward to seeing your two new blouses xx
I need tops so I think I will make more than I have said x
It's a shame about the "nipples blouse". 😢 Could you wear it under a vest or cardigan?
I have now bought a vest which looks fab over it x
Loved this until you referred to a young person as 'one of his'.
I have had to re watch this to try and understand what you mean, even after watching this I’m not sure what you mean. X
